the mans a genius. i have trained many times with sensie Kato along with many other great sensies from lots of associations but none can dissect a simple block in so many different ways. Brilliant
It is one thing to be a great Karate technician. It is another to be a competent teacher, one that is able to explain and convey the fine details to students. Kato sensei is one of the few Shotokan masters that is both. If I could restart my Karate career (31 years) all over again, I would make Kato sensei my primary teacher.
Моё почтение сэнсэю КАТО. Сэнсэев КАТО и ТАНАКА много, а он такой один. На каждом семинаре что то новое показывает. Другие только ои цки и немножко другое ...... =)
i started trainingin wado ryu under sensei suzuki in 1962, in 1965 i changed to shotokan under kanazawa and enoeda sensei, im now 62yrs old in all my karate life i have trained with many top japanese and european instructors and to this day i have not met any that compere to this sensei in how he teaches this great art..
I've trained under Sensei Kato and while he certainly has his admirers, my take on some of his ideas is that it just over complicates karate. I prefer karate to be simple and effective. Having said that, some of his training ideas are fun to experiment with.
