Great reaction! Thanks for going back and doing the full trilogy. Ren came up with the idea of Jenny's tale after he read an article about a prostitute being killed by a teenager. That is the only true part of the story. He made up Screech's Tale and not too long after that and then a few years later created Violet's Tale. If you remember, in Jenny's Tale he says Screech is 14 years old. He never says how old Jenny is. Since they were twins, we know Jenny was also 14. She was walking the streets in high heels, so we can assume Jenny was also prostituting herself. It's definitely a dark story, but one that needs to be brought into the light. It happens in real life all the time. If you go on Ren's Renmakesstuff channel there are some back story videos about Screech.

Ren read a news article yrs ago about a male youth who robbed, stabbed and killed a female prostitute in London. The cop on the scene said "it's such a shame". That gave Ren an idea and he composed the rest. Jenny's Tale was recorded early 2019, Screeches Tale was recorded late 2019 and Violet's Tale was done in 2022.

Its always a gut punch. The unending cycle of violence and abuse.

Really good of you to record this version I couldn't cope with this one for a few weeks when I was first looking at Ren's work. Its still tough, but I believe a few people in this circumstances got out after watching this. The truth is helpful sometimes. You got the horrific twist at the end well listened. I absolutely love watching reactions to Rens music. I've watched hundreds by now, and it never gets old. Thank you for reacting to him! Keep going! Edit: During Violets story when you said "This is too real. I have a daughter." I wanted to hug you. It's a vicious world out there, and even living my teen years in Brooklyn, NYC and gaining a lot of street smarts, I was still victimized several times. Carrying keys between knuckles, no ponytails, no headphones or ear buds in, EVER because you need to be aware of your surroundings at all times, etc. I went to an all girl Catholic school my senior year, and insanely, I was harassed more then, than I am when I visit as an adult. It's disgusting.

Born together, died together without ever knowing each other. Generational violence most people ignore.

Jennys tale was prompted by a newspaper story and people saying its such a shame then a few months later came Screeches tale then it was nearly 2 years later he released Violets tale tying it all together. Masterpiece.

It was cool you caught the rewind. I loved the he closed the loop with the fast forward too. Masterful story teller. Once speculation is that his girl was busy because Patrick was with her. Another is that when Stevie called her such a liar was because she was pregnant and not from him, but likely from her father's several abuse. All kinds of dark.

I think Screech’s girl was busy entertaining Patrick. Screech needed somewhere to hide and both people in his life were “busy”. So, he takes his frustration out on his girlfriend (which is what his bio father would have done).

Ren is talented alright. That was a one-take. A lot of his songs are one-takes for authenticity. He also does most of his own beats and pre and post production. His catalogue is huge and diverse: RAP, rock, soul, storytelling folk, retakes and covers. His lyrical skills are unmatched by any contemporary artists. He had an excellent band called The Big Push that did mostly covers with some originals. I recommend their version of War Pigs and I Shot the Sheriff as well as a couple of originals: Icarus and Swan Song. For solo work: The Hunger, Genesis, The Tale of Jenny and Screech (all three parts) and maybe The Money Game (all three parts). Additionally, he collaborated with Chinchilla on two gorgeous tracks Chalk Outlines and How to Be Me. That’s barely scratching the surface. Welcome to the Ren Rabbithole. Enjoy the ride. Just to clarify, Ren is not mentally ill. He went through almost ten years of misdiagnosis from bipolar disorder to M.E. only to find out that he had Lymes disease. At its worst point, his sickness made him so ill he couldn’t get out of bed for almost a year. He was very weak and severely underweight because he couldn’t keep a lot of food down. In past two years, he has received stem transplants to help repair some of the damage done by having untreated Lyme disease for so long. He is now doing much better though he still deals with Chronic Pain and Autoimmunity that severely limits his diet. He went through Hell and chose to learn from the experience and kindly pass on his wisdom to others. He is an Artist in the best sense of the word. #freesickboi

Appreciate your reaction to this song. This is a VERY SAD tale; But, what I LOVE the MOST about "The Tale of Jenny and Screech" is that in the end it points out that Jenny and Screech were siblings. This gave me insight into Ren's compassion for humanity and the recognition of how wrong violence is. It should not be this way. We are all brothers and sisters. We are divine spiritual beings in mortal bodies. We should treat each other as such. Jenny and Screech grew up in the foster system so that they didn't know they were siblings. But, if we're taught like we should be taught that we are ALL BROTHER and SISTERS! That is the way we should ALL treat each other! This is what I like about this song. Hopefully, one day we will all know this. "Every so often there comes an artist that says things on a certain level that just resonates." Like Oliver Anthony? (I admit that Ren is OA x100 in a good way. OA did six months of suffering compared to at least six years of hellacious suffering for Ren. They both are prophets, in my opinion. Ren can weave a tale that drags you in, a true tragedy, but sadly far too common. I agree that Ren paints to vivid a picture for some of the story as a father it's hard to watch. But at the same time Ren pulls you in and you can't look away. If you want some more fun Ren check out "Uninvited", much lighter.

If you ever see this and are interested in listening to classical guitar pieces like what Ren is doing I suggest looking up Andres Segovia. The man is an amazing guitarist.
