It's amazing that people just watch a whole animation and think nothing of it and don't consider how many hours and even days of work were put into just animating and refining 5 seconds!
I have quite a few animation ideas in my head that I already know would take YEARS to animate- not just because I’m taking time to build up the skills for it prior, but because of the effort that I would have to pour into every. Single. Segment. Creating animation for a song just over three minutes can easily take me over three years if I’m being perfectionistic.
I would be extremely disappointed if CN or any other station decided to "remake" a Ghibli film into a low-budget show with the same Gen Z humor as Teen Titans Go or some shit. Dont get me wrong, this little animation is adorable, but I'd honestly be kind of offended if they turned the entire Ghibli style on its head to make a cartoon that completely disregarded the Ghibli vibes.
I couldn’t pinpoint why the eyes looked so familiar but then I got it, it reminded me of the Nickelodeon show “My Life as a Teenage Robot” but nonetheless this is really cute and great!
@@nintenaya137 one problem. commenter above me specifically mentions the eyes as part of this being a common art style choice, whereas almost every single example of ‘calarts style’ has generic round, circle eyes with dot pupils that look absolutely nothing like this animation (semicircles with big pupils and old fashioned wedge-styled highlights), which is why i asked about it. the style of this video in general employs more of a use of angles whereas your average stereotypical calarts character is rounded and circlish to a fault. i struggle to see where the common theme is at all between this style and the calarts style besides them both being cartoony, and if anything, i’m inclined to think you get shocked by it more just because there’s a clip of an anime beside it, making the cartoony side look more cartoony than it should be compared to if you just saw it on its own. near everyone in this comment section is worryingly biased in their perception of the art for this reason
tbh it looks nothing like calarts style? i know what theyre talking about & this style is very different and unique to itself- it is a bit of a peeve for me when people chalk just about any cartoony style up to "calarts" (which ofc isnt a bad style either!). i was thinking about how cute & original it is too!
This just shows how much effort it takes to do one, very short, animation. You gotta appreciate how much patience and effort it takes for animators to do this. A small scene like this can take hours depending on your skills.
You would cry more seeing the whole thing copyrighted because it's basically copying and profiting off of it and the artists fighting over legal matters lol
This is BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Kiki's Delivery Service is my favorite movie of all time!! I love how you reinterpreted the shot. Your style is so cute! (I'm teaching myself to animate in Blender! Maybe when I get good enough I can try doing this! It's a fantastic idea!)
I remember watching this movie a few months ago, It was so wholesome, I absolutely loved it. Her little black cat is so adorable (and so is your art!!!)
such a simple animation yet so much effort went into it. From animator to animator, i understand how much time it takes, even for a few second clip. Your quite the trooper for putting so much time into this. Your amazing and underrated!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make this process video! Always love watching you create things and this animation is so cute in your style and a great homage to the original! ♥♥
thank you this! this inspires me to try animating more. i love your art style, and did you compose the soundtrack as well? that's amazing! btw the portfolio website isn't working when i checked it :(
