Thank you for posting this Gabe. When I first started watching, I thought it was the lava flows from last summer. It's amazing to me that vegetation of some sort has not already taken root en masse on the 30 or so year old lava flows. It's still so barren. It's so wonderful to see so many folk working together at something so important to the environment, giving Mother Nature a helping hand instead of trying to impede and destroy her efforts. Would have loved to have been there, even to plant just one coconut tree!

One thing that always struck me watching videos about the recent eruption was how small plants, particularly ferns, were so pervasive on the older flows. As a Californian, I've seen how quickly vegetation can reclaim burned areas with even minimal human help; seeing this assisted reclamation is educational and heartening. Thanks for posting this, and long may the Islands be green!

Great terraforming and you guys are not even space aliens ! Do you think the dead trees near the fissure system in Leilani Estates area would make good mulch for such projects ? They make the area look spooky and are a fire hazard. It would be nice if the land owners in that area would allow groups like yours to take them down and mulch them for such projects. Planting new life on the abundant lava areas is awesome ! Keep up the good work. What a great example of positive volunteerism for the rest of us !!!

I don't know why these people annoy me so much. I think its because they're just so fucking jolly, and have all this spare time to do what nature is already pretty good at and everyone who watches is all "Amazing... you people truly are an inspiration!! I can't believe there are such kind, caring, beautiful souls on this planet.. absolutely phenomenal work you guys are doing..." when like they are just super wealthy with their fancy cameras living in paradise planting coconut trees for RU-vid.
