I am becoming a peat head. I even ordered a bottle of Laphroaig 10 today. I am flexible so I will be reviewing that soon. And maybe there will be a better outcome. Remember to subscribe Helps the channel grow and RU-vid to recognise my hard work. Cheers

There is a 16 yo available Gert! We bought 2 bottles but haven’t cracked one open yet. We are drinking more moderately just a couple of times a week. We can justify some of the prices that way. Samples aren’t available here. Go easy!

For me atleast the Kilchoman is worth the money. All that I have tried has been really good. Soon they have stock so they can release 10y+ whisky and its gonna be amazing. Cheers.

They have already released a 16 year old - unfortunately, the launch price was £200/~€237 although I know somewhere that has it for 'only' £185/~€220!

The price is worth it to me and we disagree on the value for NAS scotch. I have had some fantastic NAS whisky. This is just a reality that we will be dealing with now. I paid $225 Canadian before taxes and I'm fine with that. I recommend buying less and being more choosy if you want to save money. I don't have the option of buying samples. Moderation! I will buy this Kilchomen again. I had a dram of Laphroaig 10 the other night and love it and will be interested in what you think. I like the medicinal smoke! Interesting thoughts Gert! Prices won't be going down. This is an expensive hobby. I am cutting back for better health! Cheers!

@@WhiskyLoversSociety I absolutely understand the enthusiasm and I love your enthusiasm Gert! I know the price hits hard. We do well but still this kind of price is a hit on the credit card. I can happily say I rarely get a dud. The latest was the Mortloch 12. For me it was garbage but thankfully a friend loves it! I am so excited for you that you can buy samples! I am all about Islay and heavy peat and of course Talisker!! We recently grabbed a couple of these Kilchomens for the bar and it was a $$ hit. I also love the idea of a family owned distillery. I'm not sure if it's how we imagine but hopefully - everyone getting together!! Cheers friend!! I also wish the prices were lower! 🙂

Oh no my original message seemed to disappear. I am fine with NAS scotch. Some of the best have been NAS whiskies and I am fine with paying a lot for them if they are worth it. I love this Kilchomen but Madeira is extra sweet and it can at times be a tiny bit too sweet. Overall Joel and I feel fine with $285 Canadian for this expression. We sip it in moderation. I love medicinal and tar and adore Laphroaig 10 but I was surprised to see you ordered a Laphroaig 10. It's pretty medicinal. Prices aren't going down. If we want to be part of this hobby I think we have to accept it's going to cost a lot. Too many people pay the going prices and I don't see that changing. It's great that you can get samples. We can't do that! Moderation! I understand your enthusiasm! I'm not a snob about NAS scotch. You miss out if you avoid some of them! Cheers Gert!! 🙂

@@WhiskyLoversSociety The beautiful thing is that palettes change!! Even if you don't like the Laphroaig 10 I think it's awesome that you are going back and giving it a second chance! That's a great attitude. At least Laphroaig 10 has remained relatively good for price. It's $85 before taxes in Vancouver and yup that comes to $100.00 Canadian but these days that's a bargain sadly! I can happily say some of my loves have been younger scotch whiskies! Can't wait for your awesome review Gert! Love your channel!! 🙂

Nice video & relevant questions about pricing, Gert...Frankly I did hesitate a lot about this one as I'm usually a sucker for Madeira finishes or full maturation (btw, I just recently jumped on The Deveron 10 yo Madeira finish but havent opened it yet...) & part of the hesitation was about the price...as I'm also targeting the current version of Kilchoman "Sanaig" (I've the old one with a different recipe & would love to do the comparison) which is cheaper...There are also a new "Sauternes" batch & the new core range "Cask Strength", so its an "embarassing embarrassment of riches", my friend ! Cheers !

I did some digging. I found some Kilchoman bottles. 100% Islay 13th edition, 3 Machir Bay bottles, Small Batch, Cognac cask, Armagnac double finish, Batch Strength , Sanaig, Madeira cask, Fino Sherry cask and a PX Sherry cask, it might look like I'm a Kilchoman fanboy 😅@@WhiskyLoversSociety

I don’t mind if the whisky is a NAS as long as it’s good. I have tasted “bad” high age whisky and fantastic NAS. And when it comes to Ardnamurchan, they may not print the age on the bottle, but you will find all the info you need if you scan the QR code. Even the age in each cask used. And I guess 10 years in a good cask can make a better whisky than 25 years in a worn out or bad cask. I do appreciate an age statement but it doesn’t help with a high age if the content taste like 🚽😅

@@fotografi4fun too be honest I am not a fan of the qr code thing. It is nice but why not put it on the label. Plus it is a great tool for them to harvest my Ip for targeted marketing. Agree with you on the NAS. I have some great ones. Most of the Kilchoman is about 5+ years. Sanaig is 9 years and some 10 year old casks. This video will drop soon. Cheers

@@WhiskyLoversSociety I agree they should put the age on the bottle. Ardbeg was not afraid to put 5 years on Wee Beastie 👏🏻. But I’m afraid anything less than 10 will sell less maybe? And I guess that’s why most distilleries are doing the NAS thing. I’m more interested in added chemicals (caramel color) and filtering actually… or the lack of… and 46% + than the age to be honest 😊
