A very clever choice on the part of the show designers. These women are so powerful and influential that their mere footsteps reverberate in a crowd and demand attention. It tells you right away everything you need to know about their place in this world.
+Danielle Treadwell late reply but no, because the heels r lifted at the back, if u walk heel first, u put a lot of pressure on ur heel and thus on the unsteady part of ur shoe, so u can literally just topple backwards. u normally put weight on ur toes when walking in heels to counterbalance the backward force the heel give. its hard to understand but just take a pair of heels (ur family's if u dont have urself) and try balancing
I love that they reuse the same shot whenever Satsuki clicks her heel everytime. Its like it was so perfect the 1st time the animators felt obligated to use every chance they had.
satsuki's heel clicks is two eighth notes with the heel first. Almost like she showing dominance over everyone by out doing everyone. Eighth notes are speedy and quick to preform And act. Ragyo, is two sixteenth notes with a very subtle toe first as if saying she is like royalty, is delicate, and important. And almost claiming she is the queen. Sixteenth notes melt into each other. Like ragyo and the life fibers. Meanwhile instead of a clicks ryuko has a full quarter note stomps whole foot down all at once showing rebellion and anger in a march like fashion. Almost controlled chaos. Quarter notes make up most of music. And the entire anime is about her and senketsu. while her stomps aren't emphasized like the clicks you can hear it.
The one where she almost falls backwards but is saved by her heel. Beautiful scene, kinda bummed it didn't make it in the video considering it's the most memorable one.
4:26 „You have no one to blame but yourself for wasting precious time on monologing at me,(...)“ FINALLY, she’s breaking that cliche, Satsuki is awesome!
Soulecho Mew I am aware. I'm not justifying her actions, just admiring the character design. The creators did a great job at making a character who's outwardly appealing but awful. You love her, you hate her, and it's so satisfying watching her go down.
Kill la Kill is one of my favorite animes- great soundtrack, great voice actors, and great character design. The plot is ridiculous, and the lore is over the top, but that’s really what gives a fan service anime it’s soul anyway.
There was one memorable part they left out. In satsuki's first fight with royko. Royko finally pushed her back forcing her to heel click backward. I always thought that one was important.
I've personally used heel clicks in my writing as a way of fear My two most intimidating characters both have their entrances into a scene punctuated by the deafening clack of their heals against the silent room. Its really fun to write that.
While women are urged to wear heels for beauty standards, they are not pushed to use these or those heels in particular within their range of consumption. So, despite its rienced coercive origin, there is a component within the use of heels that falls legitimately within the scope of personal choice, or (just like the reader before the author) of taste before fashion as an empowerment of the individual and the recapture of some freedom. However, heels, among other historically renowned examples of women's footwear, have the indisputable feature of preventing them from walking too far or too fast: to weaken a degree of mobility and power that they'd perfectly have if not using them. Thus, beyond their cosmetic function and their problems within that scope, heels are a clear example of the possibility of means of control being effectively disguised as means of expression and thus, in general, of the fully functional but essentially fraudulent status that even the most common signs can reach... All this except in Kill La Kill, of course.
Missed one in Episode 3 where they fought and Satsuki dodged Ryoku's Decapitation Mode strike. Otherwise, good compilation, seems the heel clicks mark all the climaxes.
i always liked the sound of heel clicking. It feels like it gives you this "professional-woman" vibe whenever you hear those clicks as you walk. That and these compilation is satisfying in every way possible
There was 4 Things this woman did that drove me insane. Heel click, Her Stance (with the sword in front both hands on the tip opened legs and just saying her speech), Her sitting in the chair like a BOSS and when she drank Tea. Ugh such a Regal Queen.
Alright, I haven't watched kill la kill in while but what's this show about again? Clothing is a metaphor for constricting societal conformity right? The enemies are literal pieces of clothing, which empower the villains to mold society into their vision, until the people are nothing but the clothes they wear, the threads weaving society itself. Ok, I think I talked myself through it, the metaphor is multi facetted because clothing is also a form of self expression, hence heroes also have their clothing thing. At least I think I got it. I could be just be in an entirely wrong ballpark.
Actually I don't approve of you impersonating the Goddess. Granted imitation is the highest form of flattery. You are not worthy to parallel glorious Satsuki-sama. And I certainly don't appreciate people sexualising the Goddess, even though it's kinda done in KLK anyway but Satsuki-sama is pure and divine. Call me what you will! My faith is strong. Hail Satsuki-sama!
Ragyo is the villain Steven Universe deserved TBH. White was good and scary and spooky and shit but her conflict was resolved in like 5 seconds despite being their BIGGEST THREAT. To me she should have been the one BIG villain that Steven just COULDN'T FIX. They kind of did that with Jasper but in the end she basically came around too. White not having a redemption arc would've made the series much better than it already is (which is saying a lot.) I wish White was more like Ragyo
...anybody else just get the mental image of a Heel Click happening, then the heel snapping off, with the usual fallout of such things happening after? I can't get it out of my head
Each carries the meaning of superiority over the person standing in front of them, or conviction in their words. Note the heel click for the moment when Satsuki was technically naked.
Much like how heels were created for royals and power (usually men) back then. The creator definitely knows his stuff. Heels literally symbolize power and commands attention (as you see in this show). That's partially why women and even some men (myself included) today dawn them. The creator did good.👠
Wow... To me, Satsuki's heel clicks feel clear; whilst Ragyo's sound like trampling on stuff. I really respect Satsuki. She was made in the face of her mother and yet she became her own person independent of her. That is true strength.
While watching this, I wondered if the use of the heel click was a reference to Orwells 1984, where towards the end, O'Brian says "If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face - forever." The three quotes Satauki repeats are also very similar to the three quotes on the ministry of Truth in 1984, "War is peace, Freedom is slavery, Ignorance is strength.
Missed the one during the first fight between satsuki and ryuko where she bends backward dodging ryuko catches herself with the heel click and then comes back up. That one is my fave
I'm surprised they don't break their ankles walking on their heels like that. But anime, so it's fine. In real life, make sure you walk on your toes in heels, so you don't break your ankles, though.
Honestly the setting of this anime always turns me off. The academy doesn't even seem like it's a thing everything is so bland when compared to the characters it hurts
I love how you made a compilation out of this. But you're still missing one heel click. The one during Ryuko and Satsuki's battle in episode 3. It may have been slow, but it still counts.
But it's actually true. Without freedom, people don't fear not having it. And only under a ruler that makes people fearful do people seek freedom. People don't seek liberty unless they are subjugated, and if they have liberty they'll be extra averse to being subjugated. Contradiction=truth is self explanatory considering the previous 2.
