Man this was tough to watch, first off love your corsairs, colors are excellent (chef’s kiss🤌🏻). Second, I honestly wish they had either more wounds like 10 or a few more models(like 2), That would really help them, and be a little more competitive. And finally, you played well for a first time running them, definitely took a lot of notes on your mistakes, which is great, and I’m sure will help you improve tons on your next battle. The Corsairs are super cool looking and fun to play. I would strongly recommend losing bird boy and just going with another long range warrior. Helps a lot when you need that long shot, can really come in clutch In sticky situations🤘🏻.
Appreciate the kind words in light of the massacre! Definitely learned a whole bunch. Felt a bit like they were missing something and I think you are right with adding in a little more long range fire power, it's easy to get caught up in the specialists sometimes.
Late to the game here, been slammed with work, but it was an absolute treat to see you back to battle reports again. Great team choices, really enjoyed them and kudos to you for sticking through the game and carrying on to make a batrep out of it. If you'll forgive the pun, now the corsairs have been blooded, I'd love to see you use them again and see how they get on, especially against an elite team plus after this game, I reckon the dice Gods owe you! A pleasure as always mate.
it's definitely different to see a battle report from the receiving end of a one-sided beat down. He got a little bit ahead and then just steamrolled. There were a few things you could have done differently but I think a couple options to consider would involve how you used the fate dealer. it's counter-intuitive but the cloak equipment makes the fate dealer we'll suited to sitting behind a barricade on an objective that would otherwise be exposed to enemy vantage points since it makes him immune to vantage. anyone else you sit there would get shot but the fate dealer is safe. Alternately, you can use the wayseeker to pop him up on a vantage with the transposition power. Then, next activation he can take his shot and drop down or if you can get him somewhere he has cover (which may have only been the oil rig; I think all your other vantages we're exposed), he can just stay put.
I like that! There were definitely some team synergies I knew I wasn’t getting right. And fighting so hard for a vantage point I probably didn’t need once I spent those equipment points is definitely something I should have caught! Thanks for the tips!
That was brutal! Corsairs seem to be in a weird middle ground where they don't have the bodies to out activate, but also aren't as killy as the elite teams like legionaries and intercessors. I'm curious if you actually do the opposite of what we're used to and leave out a specialist or two and bring a couple of shuriken rifle warriors with some "fire and fade" to help clear some chaff.
Seems like there might be some play in that. Maybe I am too used to playing teams that are either horde or elite and that middle ground made me have no idea how to make them work. More experiments need to be done!
Nice battle rep, clear and crisp as always. It is hard to pilot a new team, and getting more experience with it may be what you need. As for this particular game, I think that main problem was trading.. and it wasn't even trading, it was giving Blooded free kills. Enemy did punish your positioning quite harsh, and that snowballed into very uneven situation on a board. Still, good game and definitely lots of things to learn from for future matchups.
I know I'm late to the game, but for any newbie Corsair players trying to get some tips: 1) soon as he said "they have lots of bodies" says to me to bring a plasma grenade and the shredder for some blasts. 2) an interview I saw suggests trying to use your T1 to set up for a devastating T2. Like you were saying, there's limited range on the team. 3) The Felarch already had a 5++, but was picked every turn to also get a 3++. Maybe the better play would've been to 3++ the Fate Dealer since it was known that he wouldn't be able to shoot that turn. And also make the Fate Dealer the last operative moved up, for less models being able to move up and target.

Yeah I agree it feels like a lot of work you need to do. And changing an enemy is strong but justifying it with all that risk means opportunity cost is ooooft!
I have played Corsairs a lot since they came out and these are exactly the things we have been discussing with my group. Especially giving him the rifle would make him something more than just a weak combo piece. With that statline and those odds the ability is something I would like to use for free rather than pay 1 AP for. All that being said, I still put this guy on table in every game since the model is so awesome and thematic!:) (ps. Out of 30+ games I have succeeded in this ability only three times... That’s how bad this dice roll can be..)
@@kvltovlvx1534 he does look so cool. It's a shame he is so bad. I have never had his ability work in a game. When I play with my friend, I usually just have the model stand in for a basic warrior with a rifle.
Quick bit on the Corsair soul weaver, she actually has the 'psyker' keyword meaning she can perform psychic actions (lightning bolt, freezy grip, etc) up to twice with the d6 chance to fail on the second action. And it should be noted that they don't have the limitation on spell use like some other teams, each psyker can only perform each spell once in its turn but you can use the same spell a second time with the other psyker. But if I'm wrong do tell me
Just finished the report, very unfortunate dice this game for sure, the gunner and sniper being misplaced definitely didn't help. I'm really interested in seeing corsairs on itd, aeldari agility +light fingers sounds like a great wombo combo for turn 1 rushes. Side note I wonder if you can use the Guard action with agility? It reads "no shoot or fight actions during its activation" so I assume that means overwatch and guard are doable. Imo I like the look of itd better than "regular?" Kill team, hopefully I can get the box soon.
She does have the keyword but I think, from what I can see on datasheets- the keyword just lets her do her two unique psychic actions whereas the way tinder has MANIFEST PSYCHIC POWER which lets him choose from the list with lightning strike. I might be wrong too that’s an interesting point!
@@steppenworf121 i don't have my nachmund book physically in front of me but this is pasted off wahapedia "The first time a friendly CORSAIR VOIDSCARRED PSYKER operative performs the Manifest Psychic Power action in each of its activations, select one psychic power from the list below to be resolved." With the psyker keyword underlined and showing both the way seeker and soul weaver as operatives with that keyword, though you are right that the seeker has the "Manifest Psychic Power" while the weaver doesn't so you're probably right now that I re-re-read it. Saw a "big" (for kill team) batrep channel cast spells with the weaver which made me reread the section on Psychic powers. I guess where I got twisted was, for instance, the warpcoven wahapedia page says under Psychic powers that only sorcerers can cast them. Though in their data card they also have the Manifest power action so maybe I just need to double check my reading compression lol. At least I haven't used the weaver as a psyker in any of my games, so my only crime is being illiterate on the internet. Welp, im going to start a petition to get the corsairs buffed to make the weaver cast spells. As demonstrated by this battle report, they are so underpowered they got beaten by blooded lol
Glad to have found your content, your prodution is really high quality for a smaller channel. Probs to you. Regarding the game: Maybe consider firtify on one of the vantage points for safety reasons. The Corsaires are fast, don't put too much emphasis on dashing pre turn one. Your overwatch play was not up to par, you can wait for your opponent to activate further models and then decide to still kill the bait, if he doesn't present another more valuable target!
Love your battle reps! Blooded seem to be so underrated I love playing them its just a shame their equipment is a bit... crap! if your sniper wasnt taken out in that first turning point I think this might have been a different outcome! :)

Always nice to get a new bat rep! That was a bit of a rough go for the space pirates; I’ve got a friend that’s putting together a Corsairs team, and I’m afraid that underwhelming stats are sapping his enthusiasm. Hopefully you snatch victory the next time you run them! Or just play more Wyrmblade, the Kelermorph always goes down smooth.
Great batrep! I always really appreciate seeing how players weigh their decisions. Really feels like Corsairs are a team where everyone has one job and if you lose units you lose functionality v quickly. Two questions: does anyone else feel they should just be allowed the heavy gunner as well? Also, this is more subjective but was this also an above average board in terms of terrain density and do we feel like that helped the blooded too?

After we finished the game my opponent and I definitely discussed we may have gotten a bit carried away with a thematic board vs a optimal board 😅 A Heavy Gunner operative would be nice, like a lot of the Aeldari teams (except the Harlequins) they seem to be not quiet tough enough to be tough enough to be a CC team and not numerous enough to be a horde team.
I’m playing against Guard teams a lot and jeeze, they’re tough. Really haven’t come up with a good way to counter their numbers advantage. Especially if the opponent is careful, like the guy you played. Your only hope is to try to set up some decent overwatch opportunities but, good luck, if your team is light on long range shooting. Playing my Death Guard against any flavor of Guard, I just have to be a jerk and take all bolters just to have some hope.
Seems to be the short coming, they have few ways for each of your operatives to take multiple enemies with them. No real blast weapons, no flamers, few grenade options and against that many operatives no real advantage in CC. I will have to keep learning with them! Thanks for watching
I hear a lot of hate for the blooded but I love em! Not sure the sniper should of got a blooded token for killing an operative across the board. Don’t think it would of made a difference, I had a good time watching this 👍
That part is fine. The limitation on getting a blooded token is for having a friendly blooded die within 6" of another Blooded ops. The token for killing an enemy had no limitation on range.
Its really nice to see if you do mistake with corsairs, you have a problem to win a game. Its really hard team to play and you need to play it 100% right without mistakes. Anyway great battlerep 🔥
