Hey Payton, I really do appreciate your vulnerability with anxiety. My 14 year old daughter struggles with it daily and I can relate on that level. It's refreshing hearing it discussed so freely. Good job, keep at it!!

I had a mental breakdown last year. Panic attacks lasting for hours on end and then ending sometime in the evening lasted for 3 months. I fully agree that when you have the moments of normalcy it’s such a big win! I love you keep working it will pay off

I’m enjoying your 10 seconds! I used to struggle with anxiety and had a really rough phase where I wondered if I’d ever feel normal again. Today I am so thankful not to be in that hard place anymore. I find a 5 year journal is helpful for reflecting on how far you’ve come and how you’re progressing and growing. It has 5 sections on each page Jan 1-Dec 31 and each day in each section you just write the year. It’s so fun to get to year 5 and each day see what you wrote the same day each previous year. Hope I explained that well 😂. I have one called One Line a Day. I got it on Amazon.

This is amazing Payton, I love the crime podcast but amongst all your amazing work,it's your open and honest response to you on going mental health that I adore. I have been there some time around my mid twenties I struggled so much, only for the unwavering support from my beautifully kind husband could I reclaim my life and my reality. I'm now a middle aged mom, to busy to listen to the crazy crap my brain wants to load on the daily .. thankfully!! You'll find your way all the way through I don't believe it goes away fully .. obviously because anxiety is essential to keep us alive .. but you come to understand yourself and anxiety alot more. I would love a live conversation or a anxiety based podcast..talking about it helps so much and sharing everyone's scary thoughts helps us over come them I think. Be well.

I love the new name of the show! Wow this case is so tragic. It unfortunately reminds me of the Sean Daugherty case that unfortunately is ruled suicide when evidence points to otherwise. I mean not only is it convenient a anonymous source is there to fuel victim blame but 36 wounds for the 36 thousand case makes me think a) the murderer wanted us to think it’s linked to that or b) someone is mad about it. Either way this seemed personal and could be someone he knew because of where the wounds were and maybe even knew about his pocket knife ahead of time. The one person that stands out to me is the boss and briefly looking into it he was fired not to long after Lunas death. Of course I’m just guessing and would like to know more facts like the case left on his desk. If it could have indicated to the perpetrator possibly. I really hope one day his family gets answers

When I was going thru a deep depression and really low point in my life….. I told myself to appreciate this moment in life bc for however bad it gets or you feel is also how good it can be and feel someday…. I look back at that time now and feel a feeling I cannot put into words …if I were to try thu it’d be a mixture of strength, a loving relationship with myself, humble and thankful. Hope your anxiety gets better and I appreciated ur honest words in ur 10 seconds!!

Payton. If you are open to acupuncture. I suggest getting an aggressive energy treatment from your practitioner .we’re not always able to process our emotions and so they process us. This will help get rid of some of those emotions that you’re not able to process out. I have been struggling with crippling anxiety for the past three months. It’s one of my staples that helps me just take the edge off. If you like it I suggest trying it for a few months. 1. Emotion release therapy- tapping 2. Win hoff breathing’s / cold showers. Some of these things help instantly some I have seen results overtime. Last suggestion is change your lighting to something more soothing like blue or green instead of the pink. I hope that helps. I wish you inner peace.

Your 10 seconds reminded me of myself and my struggle with mental health for the last 20 years. I’ve recently been diagnosed with bipolar disorder so I’m wondering if you’re seeing a psychiatrist. Just a thought because my depression and anxiety was never managed well. But since I’ve received the correct diagnosis and treatment I feel the best I have in 20 years. I didn’t think it was possible to feel normal again.

I have had regular lows interspersed with highs. I thought they were just normal because its all I ever knew. When I was 30 I had what I now know was a mental breakdown. At that point I saw the school psychiatrist. I was crying uncontrollably. They told me I had depression. Then they said I had bipolar. Ive had many people diagnose me of many things but bipolar seems to be what I generally have, even though I also have a lot of anxiety. I have bipolar 2, which is quite hard to diagnose because it is not as obvious as bipolar 1, and, some idiots think it is borderline. It took me ages to finally end up on the right medications and create a stable life for myself. Now, I am quite calm and my bipolar symptoms are minimal. As a person who is not a psychiatrist but has life experience with bipolar because I have it, and, my mother does too, I truly feel that bipolar 2 is about having moods that flip up and down. Yes, my moods could be triggered by real things, but they were definitely extreme. I felt like I was on a roller-coaster that I could not get off of. I believe that this is the demarcation of what bipolar is. If this sounds like you, you might want to talk to a psychiatrist or therapist. I was way off the rails for years but bipolar can absolutely be managed with medication and/or therapy and healthy choices. It took me decades to get better. But it doesn't have to be like that. I just happened to take the slow road.

I feel I'm on the verge of another breakdown which makes my anxiety so much worse. My husband and I were homeless due to covid and I lost my job, now two years later we have an apartment and we have gray jobs, but where we live because we are so "stable," they are saying they won't renew our lease, yet with inflation and rent prices we can't afford just regular rental prices, and can't move to suburbs because transportation would be astronomical to get to and from work. Just gotta stay strong, work hard, and pray!!! Can't win for losing!! Still so grateful to have my life and husband every day!!

I can relate to your 10 seconds, it’s great to bring to light mental health. The victim and family need closure, it is only a matter of time this cold case will be solved by the right detective. Not sure how I feel about the way you concluded this cold case. Perhaps consider using your platform to bring light to cold cases by encouraging your audience to bring forward any information. As you have stated, the murder took place twenty years ago, therefore people’s loyalty changed with time, their is someone who knows something.

My theory is that he was involved with sex workers. This crime could have been committed by a woman. He left his office as he would be right back. I think the lure was sex and that is why was able to command him using his own pocket knife and couldn’t roll the car into the water. Also why he got the money out of the ATM. The government would want to keep this hidden because if he was involved in illegal activities all of the cases he worked could be reopened causing them a lot of trouble.
