Thank you Misha for the lap, it's an experience I'll never forget! Note: The subwoofer did survive, it was held down by 2 straps but made it way loose after my previous lap. Now I know for next time to remove absolutely everything!
I also own B6 Variant with 2.0 TDI and DSG DQ250 from the last production year, trying to keep it in good condition because it's very beautiful vagon, especially its back side. And I'm very happy to see how you drive my very favorite Passat version!
I love the R36, such an underrated and practical car. We never got these in the US but I've always wanted a VR6 4Motion Passat wagon, the closest spec we got.
Bloody hell misha you have outdone yourself this time! As an proud owner of an r36 sedan myself i am very happy to see you put it to the test! Your response and reaction to it is very reminiscent of my everyday drive, bloody good show!👍🏻 Thankyou for the vid from Australia!!
The goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 6 is actually really good tire for lite track days. I had laps with my friend Audi a6 c7 bitdi with these tyres and we where blown away that they performed better than his previous continental sportcontact 6. Not a fast tyre but safe, super friendly, and does not fade fast even on big heavy audi wagon. I think goodyear has nailed the f1 assymmetric 6, f1 supersport and supersport R.
Tips for all the people with subwoofers in the back of their cars: Stick some velcro on the bottem side of the casing. It sticks perfectly on the carpeting in your trunk. Won't move at all!
Please do not do this. It *will* come flying at you in a case of an accident. Always bolt your box down to a solid surface, or at least use ratchet straps to hold it tight in it's place. A sub box that isn't securely attached to the car is a box that doesn't play anyway. All the power will go into moving the box around, instead of moving air and sending sound waves through the box into the frame of the car
I made that mistake once....didn't screw down the sub and ended up dinting the panels in the boot after a spirited drive with loud tunes until the sub cut out....ah memories
Amazing car! And very forgotten about. I was really disappointed when they didnt cross over the R36 to the B7/B8 Passats. Never understood why! Everyone loves a good powerful estate.
In Australia we got a B7 Highline V6 4Motion, which was almost the same but no badging - same engine and power, taller 6th gear, DCC as standard. Real nice car and slightly more modern than a B6.
@@phillxorit’s available in Switzerland and Germany too. Sadly a standard Passat but with the big engine, so the handling is probably worse than a B6 R36, but it’s still a nice car. They made the Skoda Superb with this engine too.
@@kooskoos1814 yes, we had the Skoda 3.6 too, but it's a different engine here in the Skoda, CDV not BWS, and 191kW not 220kW. I had a B7 Passat 3.6 wagon , and the handling was good, but it was not as lowered as an R36. It was definitely more comfort focused. I never took the DCC out of sport 😂
Everything is better on the Yaris, especially the power-to-weight ratio. A more track-focused hot hatch compared to a VR6 wagon, I think its gonna be pretty easy to know which one will be faster with two very trained drivers lol.
Oh noooo @mgcharoudin.. I just sold my 2006 Passat 1.9TDI estate 😢 Im not really sad, I stepped into a supercharged S4, but I'd have loved to bring my Passat up from France for you to tackle the ring with - oh well, opportunity missed. Can't wait to see your 1.9TDI video though 😉
While I'm not jealous of euro fuel prices, I'm extremely jealous of all the wagons you guys have. In the states, everyone and their mom has a snoozefest crossover or SUV.
6:36 "Temperature is OK",he said! Lol From now on he will always say that because of what may happen, that we all know how his videos end, or rather, the cars he drives.
It is important for Misha to make sure he doesn't kill anymore cars like he did with that old Volvo 240 (altho it wasn't really his fault, the engine isn't meant to do this in the first place) so I can see why he will say it more often. He still cares that people will have a way of getting back home in their own cars. Even for content, he knows it simply isn't right and it doesn't worth blowing somebody else's car engine for the views. I fully respect Misha for acknowledging everything.
i had one...its a Realy nice car to drive in the snow ... but it likes to eat some oil also. but its not a Highway car lets just set that straith ...its nothing like the RS6 or 5Toering...then you will be disapointed ... and if you dont chip the gearbox...in D it drops gears like crazy and in S it also a bit strange in corners...so ja Manual is the way to go if your in a Hurry The most fun its on small twisty roads in Austria and the low sound... because the car mic in this video doesnt pic the sound up like you would hear it in the cabin ...
but for a car of that age...it has fast shifting ...the RS6 V10 from same year is way way slower in its shifting....(and yes i had all the cars im talking about )
@@bullisman728 All I know is the bigger the displacement in diesel engines, then they make more torque, my dads volvo v90 d4 has a 2.0 diesel making 190hp but 400 nm of torque soo, I just follow that logic😅
This car is a total track weapon imagine removing 400lbs from it and slap on a procharger 😂 and there is the other thing that passat can do u can Saudi arab jerk the steering wheel all u want and have all the time in the world to react to oversteer misha was to gentle with it😂
You might want to start checking cars for loose things. A freaking subwoofer?? Who goes racing with a subwoofer? Imagine u got in an accident and all of a sudden a 40 pound metal magnet flew and hit something. Just stupid stuff
Idiot for having not taken the subwoofer out.. if there would be a crash it would be several hundreds kilo that is beeing thrown forward!! Otherwise awsome car that sounds epic and great lap!
So many cars failing to do a lap in style and then a 2000s VW wagon rocks the ring. Back when they didn't give a s**t and put big engines in pretty much all cars... next: W12 Phaeton, please!
Love your videos man, if you could put the engine temps camera in all of them it would be perfect for us car nerds, love to see machine pushed to their limits and see how the car manage to stay cool or not!
Traffic was minimal, great for throwing wagon around, shame for that yellow flag though. I absolutely love these, unfortunately we never got them here, but did get to drive it once back home in Croatia. Come to think of it, these are available for imports this year now.
IMHO this has no audisteer because, despite being a haldex audi S3 VR6 inside a Passat, the weight proportion of the engine vs car the and the weight distribution of the wagon chassis results in a much better balance than VAG hot hatches/coupes/cabrios with VR6s.
VAG A5 platform cars from this era all handle great. I had an Octavia wagon, on good tyres and new springs/shocks and poly bushings it was one of the nicest sharpest steering cars for the road I've ever experienced. It too was 1.9 TDI. 🤣
I own a CC that has the same 3.6L VR6 as the R36 (the US didn't get the BWS code 3.6L before the americans come out of the woodworks to tell me it's not the same). other than wheels with wider tyres and a mild tune on the DQ250 it's stock. it's interesting to see more-or-less how my car would perform. I'm doing some research into the supercharger kits that exist for the R36-type vehicles and hoping to get a kit one day (boost the power to about 450hp). I've just got to save somewhere along the lines of AU$20k.
