A local guy has one of these Vibro Champs for sale, so I was looking for clips to help me decide whether I actually need yet another amp. Verdict? I do. 😎😂 That said, I came to see the amp, but was absolutely captivated by your playing. What an amazing sound and wonderful chord progressions. Well done. Now, I just have to talk myself out of also shopping for a Jazzmaster... 😏
Exactly the pairing i was looking for. Love my 40th JM, desert sand, currently running with a 68 deluxe reverb. Really like the sound of this 5w. Thanks
@@AmbientEndeavors I got a great deal on a late 70's silver face champ. 2 inputs, treble bass and volume...all I need for a little home recording amp! Patiently waiting for its arrival on Friday 😬
Man that sounds great! Fender made the perfect little amp here for me. A lot of people don’t like the 10 inch speaker that comes with it but I think it’s absolutely perfect for this amp. Great playing too man!
Thanks man! Yeah, it’s a really fun amp. Curiosity gets the best of me, and I’ll have a speaker “shootout” video sometime soon trying a few, but I agree it sounds really nice as-is!
Nice video, I really want this amp but it’s hard when everyone demos the gear I like with blues or classic rock, and I’m a jazzmaster/tele Midwest emo - indie - alt - ambient kinda guy
Hey glad it hit more in line with the genres you play! I'm right there with you , so it's more fun and natural to just lean into those sounds :D Thanks for watching!
how is the bass response as you hear it sitting next to the amp? In other videos I heard some very distorted bass response coming out of the Champ at low volume already.
Cool! How are you liking yours? Mine arrived with pretty moderate action, very playable. I'll probably have my tech dial it in, lower it a bit and have .10s or .11s on it eventually, and there is a touch of intonation up the neck that needs to be dialed, but overall very playable out of the box.
beautiful stuff! ive been trying to buy one of these for a while now . have tried 3 brand new ones out of the box in a shop in london and they all have the same problem (on one of them was more apparent) there is a rattling sound on certain notes - volume was around 7 - i am looking to get one to record in the studio , mostly clean tones so i guess that would get in the way ... any suggestions ? is this normal ? i cant see any similar noise in this recording... weird!
Mine had the same problem. Turns out it was the power tube. You can confirm that by gently pressing a rubber pencil eraser against the tube and the noise will instantly stop. I replaced the power tube with an Electro Harmonix branded tube and that solved it.
Those were some beautiful progressions you played! What kind of chords / music theory related techniques do you use? I've been trying to play like this recently. :)
Please do. I’m a new subscriber would love to see it! I love ambient music, but not sure of the chords to use. Would love to see some of your cord patterns.
Sometimes I make videos with gear that companies send me. Not really trying to impress, more to inform , sometimes to inspire folks to pick up their own guitar and play a bit more. You mentioned price, it's a valid point. In my experience the price to wattage equivalence argument doesn't hold much weight. You can do a lot with a 5 watt amp and I think they nailed it with this one; the verb and trem sound awesome, a 10" speaker opens up a little amp nicely, and it's undoubtedly super portable and convenient for home or small club use. Of course everyone gets to decide how much they want to spend on an amp based on needs, context, budget, etc. You could find a used one closer to $700 (and still 1-300 less than a vintage VC) or you could look elsewhere. Doesn't bother me either way. Hope you find what you're looking for!
