@lollipop84858 the style of kicks following complex riff patterns. Not to mention heavier verses and cleaner, more open choruses. Without Ray and Dino we wouldn't have that.
Is there anytjing you can't play?! Your brilliance in brutality factor is off the chart; and you almost make me cry, after every video I watch (that's a good thing!). Keep punishing those drums in the best way!
Raymond was one of my biggest motivations to play drums back in the day. I just love him. Great video as always, these shorts are gold bro, keep the excellent work your content is great.
Finalmente um material do Fear Factory. Seria legal ver você tocando a intro de "Powershifter" que foi gravada pelo Gene Hoglan na época em que ele passou pela banda. Sucesso!
Herrera is never brough into the conversation when people talk about metal drummers, the guy was pulling off superhuman programmed sounding beats before modern x/core was even a thing.
I dig it dude, no dumbass stick tricks, playing sloppy with one hand while drinking a coffee because 99 percent of people won't notice anyway. Just good playing with tons of power.
Raymond had this unpolished raw groove to his playing which massively increase value that is added to the song in general. Joey Jordison, Flo Mounier, Lars Ulrich to name a few. Not overproduced, not quantized, played by ear probably, or maybe to a click, but used rather as a guide not an atomic clock ;) Best kind of way to play this stuff IMO
Was jamming this in highschool way back when. This dude covers a lot of songs i like but most overlook. Seriously, try Meshuggah - The Mouth Licking What Youve Bled (alive dvd) version. About mid way, i bet you cant.
Herrera with FF was awesome but had a little weakness: the patterns were so fast that he had to play with triggers to capture the sound, because he could not hit (specially on the bassdrums) with enough energy. And when FF resurfaced with Hoglan, the rest of the band was astonished by the fact Gene played all patterns with no triggers.
So it’s apparent to me that I’ve got to be named Mauricio, or el Estepario, or something exotic to play drums like this. “Joel” will never get me to this level.
@@toddgaster5905 I smell what you’re steppin in but Greyson and Buddy are both still pretty interesting names… maybe I don’t need a better name and should’ve just been practicing to get better all of these years instead of just playing for fun
