Killer Instinct All Ultra Combos Reaction 

My favorite part of this watching this game was always the announcer going absolutely insane. 😂

fun fact: the composer of the game's sountrack, Mick Gordon, also worked on both Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal (minus the dlc). In one of the character's theme, Spinal (the skeleton), it used an actual bone as an instrument (alongside some dope swedish vocals).

Killer Instinct's roster are essentially a tribute to every genre of fiction. Jago and Kim Wu are Kung-fu films. Orchid represents spy thrillers. Fulgore, Glacius, Riptor and Cinder are sci-fi. Maya, Tusk and Arganos are fantasy. T.J Combo, Thunder and Eagle are action heroes. Sadira, Mira, Saberwulf Hisako and Kan-Ra are horror. And Spinal, Gargos and Eyedol are references to Ray Harryhausen stop motion epic's.

Some info: The yellow bar under the health is the "instinct gauge" which you can use to temporarly buff yourself. Also Rash (The frog) is from battle toads, Ram (Shanking guy) is from Gears of War, and the Arbiter (the guy who looks like hes from halo) is in fact from Halo.

Fun Fact: There is a difficulty mode called Kyle. "The Kyle difficulty level is the most difficult setting, and is based on one of the development team's AI Designers, who is apparently insanely good at the game." So yeah, the AI DESIGNER for this game was insanely god like. That frog, is from a legendary game called Battletoads. The Taunt he does, actually plays the main theme from his game and the pause music too, so you could also check out his taunt and the ultimates for this game too, if given the chance.

Another fun fact, the skeleton pirate, named Spinal, has his laugh from the original game brought back because it was so iconic and it fits his character perfectly

Cinder's theme has always been my favorite theme in the Killer Instinct series with Spinal being second, I have the soundtrack and listen to it all the time, I don't know if it's just me but fighting games seem to have some of the best music in video games.

The Arbiter is in fact a Halo character, General Raam is from Gears of War, and Rash is from Battletoads. There is also older Killer Instinct games with Ultras and Fatalities. Y'all should react to those too.

Killer instinct also has ultimates to react to. The are really cool.

The yellow bar is known as the Instinct Bar. When a character takes a certain amount of damage, they can active Instinct. It gives them a temporary boost which can be used to make a comeback. Each character's is completely different. Gargos gains infinite stone armor, Jago's fireballs can heal himself, Raam covers the screen in flesh eating bat-like monsters, just to name a few.

Facts about each character. And they did this in reverse so a couple of fighter have evolved forms or other things so I'll just put them together cause it'll keep it coherent. 0:55 Eagle: brother of Thunder. Once was killed and his mind & spirit used to make Fulgore. I forget how they resurrected or retconned his death. 1:42 Killgore, the prototype model that would eventually become the Fulgore model. But better is all about perspective. 11:30 Hisako - Shin Hisako: Hisako was the daughter of a great samurai and he taught her all she knows in the way of fighting. Unfortunately invaders took her & her family's lives. Her first and scariest form came about when Ultratech, one of the Big Bads of K.I. disturbed the grave of Hisako's family. She became an onryō ( a vengeful spirit, like Ringu ) except she was able to focus on her goal of revenge against Aria the head of Ultratech. Shin-Hisako is when Hisako became a Kami (Guardian Deity) by some unknown means. She's regained her sense of self and her father's katana that contains a guardian spirit to help her fulfill her duty as guardian which might explain her ascension. Now she defends the Earth from the forces of Gargos. 3:10 Eyedol is a classic boss from previous K.I.s who served Gargos, now he has split from his former master to wreak his own path of destruction. 4:50 Rash from the classic game Battle Toads. Mira, She is a former member of the Night Guard and the fraternal twin sister of Maya who sacrificed herself years ago to save Maya during a botched mission slaying vampires, but she has since returned as one of the very things they came to destroy. Now a member of a Russian Coven of vampires, Mira has become the favored lieutenant of an ancient vampire master known as the "True Tsar". She may still be in there somewhere as she freed her sister who was captured by the forces of Gargos, instead of cementing the Tsar's & Gargos's alliance by killing her. Or it could be she just wanted to do it on her terms. 6:20 Gargos the Astral Titan and OG Final Boss of previous K.I. games. Used to just be a derpy looking gargoyle now he's the Demon God who's come to ruin your day and controller. Lol 7:03 Kim Wu is a OG character from the Classic K.I. games. Being the chosen of the holy dragon spirit Yeouiju, it's not by chance that Kim Wu exhibits all the traits attributed to the sign of the dragon in the Chinese zodiac. She is gifted, intelligent, bossy, loud, garish and unfaithful, but successful and popular; and is held in veneration by her admirers and elder family members. 7:45 Tusk is another OG K.I. character. A 6'11 legendary barbarian and warrior champion who was called Tunth-ska in the ancient world, Tusk's a hefty fighter characterized by his preternatural strength and mastery of two-handed greatswords. In Killer Instinct (2013) he is an immortal guardian known as the "Watchman of the Gods", who was created 10,000 years ago by angelic beings to serve as Earth's sentinel against the demon lord Gargos. 8:36 Omen, Herald of Gargos and all around bad dude. the dark spirit that had possessed the warrior Jago, turning him into Shadow Jago. He is a loyal servant of the astral deity Gargos, and has been given the special duty of preparing the world for the return of his master. 9:12 Arbiter is indeed a Halo Character. He's well known to those who follow Halo, going from villain to Anti-Hero to Hero from Halo to Halo 3 and beyond. 9:58 ARIA, an abbreviation standing for "Advanced Robotics Intelligence Architecture", is a new character introduced in the Season Two of Killer Instinct (2013). Also has a Death Battle 🙏🥺🥺🙏 20:38 Jago, is a mysterious warrior monk from a remote region of Tibet and the main protagonist of the Killer Instinct series, having been playable in every installment. Guided by the mysterious Tiger Spirit to seek his destiny, he has been led to the Killer Instinct tournament to destroy the evil within. He is the younger half-brother of Orchid. Great way to start Friday. The musical finishers of this game are one of my favorite things in it. What makes it even better is that when a character does their ultra combo, it has a specific rhythm to it, but the melody/musical style will match that of whatever song is playing for that particular fight. So since each of the 29 characters has their own theme, there are 29 different variations for the jingle of each ultra combo.

Mick Gordon KILLED IT WITH THAT SCORE. I remember his name in the Doom credits so he's been around and it's cool seeing Arbiter from Halo games here but I really enjoyed y'all reactions to this.

The toad, Rash, is from a series I adored as a kid, Battletoads. I've only managed to beat the NES game and close to beating Battletoads Double Dragon, but these games are extraordinarily difficult. Fun fact; the theme you hear during his Ultra Combo is *actually* the original pause music from the NES game, famous for how catchy it is!

Sweet! Riptor is my main she's super fun to play. BTW the ultra's music changes depending on the stage/stage music you choose, they sync to the stages music so there's so many combinations. My favorite is Riptor's Ultra on Orchid's stage it sounds so cool.

I love Maya's ultra combo. The fact that she throws her daggers at you, and chill for a minute letting themslice you up and she shaking her head in disappointment, is by far a sassy finish lol. And seeing Hisako all up in your face on a huge TV is even more of a NOPE moment lol

This game has so much passion in it love the music and the stages told a story for the characters too still play it to this day. Loved how they made the ultra's to a beat as well was a cool little touch, the soundtrack still probably one of my favorites from a fighting game with how diverse it is with some callbacks to the older songs along with the dynamic stages. Also man Shadow Jago's ultra combo is pretty sick still to this day.

Killer Instinct was known in arcades for its awesome soundtrack, which probably sold as much as the game itself. This version rolled with it and just scrolling up and down through the main menu chimes out the KI theme song.

Killer instinct is one of my favorite fighting games, you guys would probably like it since it’s a fast based fighting game kinda like mortal kombat a little bit

This game is SERIOUSLY slept on. Many casual players, extremely intimidated by the combo system, have never bothered trying the game out, which is a shame. Also to note, each ultra is a character theme song. Each character has their own trailer, so you could def check those out.

The character trailers for the whole cast is fantastic. They're theatrical, they're well-paced and well done, they're definitely worth a watch! A fellow RU-vidr was actually hired to edit the trailers for some of them, he was a big fan of KI as a kid and it's a nice story to know going into watching the trailers. A sort of "dreams can come true" kind of story :)

Bit of trivia for you: Cinder's theme was done in part by James "Little V" Mills, he's a music teacher and heavy metal guitarist up here in Canada. He also has a RU-vid channel where he does metal covers of songs, it's well worth checking out: ru-vid.com

The "frog" was a Battle Toad from the Battle Toad series of games. I was worried you guys wouldn't notice that Arbiter is from Halo. I suppose you guys haven't met him yet in your Halo playthrough. Kan-ra's Ultra Combo was my favorite, but Hisako (the second creepy one) seems like the type of character I would main if I ever played this.

General Ramm is from Gears of War, Rash is from the infamous Battletoads. Glad you caught on that when the characters were doing their ultras it was syncing with their theme. Shadow Jago, and Jago are in fact the same person just that one is evil I'll let you figure out who. Killer Instinct is a Microsoft exclusive game and a free to play. The thing is you have to buy the characters that you want to play as. Hoping that one day we get either some Mortal Kombat characters in Killer Instinct or some Killer Instinct characters in Mortal Kombat, since they've been around since 94' 95'.

The guy you said who sounds like a retro game, he's one of the toads from Battle Toads, which was pretty much a similar set up like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, as for the guy you thought was from Halo, you're correct, he's the Arbiter from Halo 2, 3, and this is his design from Halo 5 Guardians.

KI is very loved by its community. There are entire docummentaries about it on youtube. One of them about its sound design.

I like how every characters do their combos and the music hits while doing it. We need more Killer Instinct games. Plus I love the first Killer Instinct 1994 theme song, it gets you pumped up. My favorite combo here was Shadow Jago, Jago, Orchid, and Rash.

Killer Instinct had some cameos from other franchises. Rash is from Battletoads, General RAAM is the main villain from Gears Of War 1 and Arbiter is one of the main characters from Halo 3

Fun fact: thunder and eagle are brothers from the nez perce tribe. And they actually went to the tribe and got real nez perce art clothing and also weapons. They also got real feedback from the tribe and worked with them to make them more accurate. The best part?? They showed the game demo to nez perce kids and they could see one of their own in a video game that's not stereotyped. Awesome video guys hope for more!

Another really fun game. Fun fact, I bought my first Xbox One solely for Sabrewulf when this game was first revealed for SGC 2013. The game only launched with Jago and Sabrewulf and everybody else was released as DLC. But the instant I saw Sabre, I was immediately sold. A whole new $400-500 console for one fighting game character... To this day, this remains my favorite fighting game. And I honestly suck at fighting games like MK and SF. But KI was super easy to get in to.

Tj combo and thunder are my mains and literally inspired my gamertag Chief Combo. In the 90s thunder was chief and he was a beast as he still is now. I'm alright with rash and cinder but tj and thunder ooh boi. Shoot they I even got my gamertag tattooed on my arm because I love gaming so much and KI made me believe in fighting games can be as good as this game.

The yellow bar is instinct. I't kind of a comeback mechanic. You can kind of use it 2x a match and it does a bunch of stuff depending on the character. Like Jago, his fireballs will heal him, TJ Combo gets more speed and if he has it when he loses, he comes back with 10% health. Mostly it fills character's weaknesses for a time. The purple bar at the bottom is your basic meter you spend to do special moves and it feeds into the combo system. One cool thing about the music is it actually changes depending on player actions. Like for example if nobody does anything it's actually ramp down and became more melodic. Even with the Ultras you have to input all those moves so you can control the melody somewhat. I really can't name anyone that put that much effort into the music for a fighting game.

My buddy used to play this at like a super high level. He was gonna go to some tournament, but then didn't... probably cause he couldn't drive 😂 General Raam is the main bad guy from Gears of War 1. There's a DLC for Gears 3 where you play as Raam is so dope.

If you like the sounds of the music with each hit, then you’ll love the uninterrupted music of each character. Absolutely Killer!

Fulgores devastation bean sound is strangely satisfying and destructive

This game speaks in all caps. Also fun fact. If you use the classic costume on fulgore and do his ultimate, if you look closely you can make out the Rare symbol which were the original creators of killer instinct before microsoft bought the rights.

Omg I love Killer instinct and Rash is from Battletoads a famous hard game back on the NES. His outro is cause they haven't had a new game until sometime last year I believe. Old school beat em up games.

Also keep in mind that Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon used this folklore of a vengeful spirit, combined it with tales of the ninja and added Ghost Rider. What does that equal: SCORPION.

back in 1994 the fight was on, between class mates who had Mortal Kombat, and those who had Killer Instinct. it was the school-grade Ford vs Chevrolet of video games.

I remember playing this game in Arcade Room in town in 90'. I saw a guy did a 94 hits combo with Orchid on a Arcade Game of Killer Instinct 2. You should watch the ultra of the older games Killer Instinct 1 & 2 also. I love the voice off who tell "tittle" of Combo. Awesome combo / killer combo / monster combo and the famous Ultraaaa Ultraaaa Ultraaa !!!!

I play tested this game when they made the move to PC. It's easily my favorite fighting game alongside Tekken.

KI is badass. Just a bunch of cool ass 90s ass characters duking it out.

Man, I've seen a few of these "All supers" reaction from you two, and it made me realize how confusing they must be to people unfamiliar with the games. This one was better than most, but it did the characters in reverse, starting with the bosses and alternate forms, ending on the main characters. Plus the dude in the video kept missing the combo enders! For suggestions, I would say the trailers, I wouldn't recommend the finishers, they're kind of tacked on. Maybe the classic finishers, since they include "humiliations" which force the opponent to do a boogie dance.

The Green toad who you described as a Ninja Turtle but without the shell is one of the 3 BattleToads and his name is Rash. Battletoads was a classic beat em up game that started on the NES(which is why his sound effects sound 8-bit.) The Battletoads' abilities are shape-shifting their hands, feets, and heads like giant fist, giant boot with or without spikes, ram horn or football helmet, power drill, hammer, wrecking ball, circular saw, even a forklift bulldozer.

Killer Instict had a few crossover characters. Rash was from an old game called Battletoads on the NES. The guy with the laser sword, was Arbiter from, what you guessed, Halo. And General Raam, the prison shank guy, was from Gears of War.

That one character you notice is indeed from Halo called Arbiter. Both Halo and KI are properties of Microsoft so I assume they thought it'be cool to bring Arbiter into KI. In the KI tournaments, Arbiter was one of the strongest characters which was later nerfed.

Shoutouts to Mike the Announcer. The game wouldn't have felt as hype without him.

Fun factoid: when i was a kid playing skyrim, i created a lizard guy (argonian) and named him khan’rah, very damn close to the mummies name, khanra. I always joked that they stole my character.😂

Killer instinct have dynamic music based on situation. It can be agressive in battle and calm in neutral. Ultra sound is generating and instrument is depended on stage, so each character have many variation of it. All thank to god of music - Mick Gordon. He also made music fot new Doom. Combo system is very unique. It hard to describe. Some sort of custom combo

There is technically 3 versions of jago, you got the regular one you have shadow jago that's been taken over by an evil spirit, that spirit being omen which is why they have similar moves

Characters in KI is based on some hollywood movies and comics.

I think it can be easy to dismiss Killer Instinct as a Mortal Kombat clone/wannabe, but it has enough of its own style and cool character designs to stand on its own. Love how the music matches the attacks. Pretty sure the background gets more hectic the deeper into an Ultra Attack you are as well. Most of the characters are original, but there are some cameos. General Raam is from Gears of War, another franchise you definitely should get into. Rash is from the old game (think it had a more recent entry as well) Battletoads, which is totally NOT Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.😁 The Arbiter is indeed an Elite from Halo. He makes his first appearance in 2, which is why you guys don't know him yet! This was awesome. More Killer Instinct, please! I love Killer Instinct, it's my favorite fighting game and one of my favorite games in general! Also, Killer Instinct has an incredible soundtrack made by none other than Mick Gordon, the same person that made the Doom soundtrack (at least for season 1 and 2). Please react to all the character trailers! I especially like Riptor's, as it's an in-universe ad. It would also be really fun if both of you tried it yourself, Killer Instinct is one of the more beginner friendly fighting games and you can probably get the Definitive Edition really cheap. Killer Instinct features multiple Xbox guest characters: Rash from Battletoads, Arbiter from Halo and General Raam from Gears of War. Eagle and Thunder, the two native americans, are brothers. The developers worked together with the Nez Perce tribe to make them as authentic as possible.
