As they say, it's only original once. Go as long as you can without replacing until it's necessary. It's looking amazing, Ralph!! Great work!!

Ralph I am so glad you kept the original art on the console panel and front. It looked so good after being cleaned. The new side panel art goes with the original and looks great. The sixe molding was a nice touch. Don't apologize for the length as I enjoyed every minute of it. Also, looking foward to the dark soft mod. Keep doing what you're doing

I could watch you restore this for hours, where's the Patreon extended cut?! haha. I'm considering picking up a California Speed in my area thats got a dead monitor. I'd like to start dabbling in working on the real thing. Maybe pick up a few I'm not that in love with, fix them up and sell it for the next project. The experience will come in handy for when I buy a KI or one of the other cabs I want to keep. I do agree, keep the original art when possible! You can always keep the re-prints for backups.

Looks great Ralph. Enjoy watching all the your videos, keep it up. I made a new control panel for my Robotron, so I know the fun of filling and making it perfect. The full cabinet restoration on my Robotron will be next. The down side I like the small nicks and scratches, kind of give it character.

This looks like it's going to be one hell of a project, but it's gonna be so awesome when it's done. And I'm glad you're trying to hold onto some of the original art. I completely agree with many of the other comments on here, I think it's important to try and keep as much of it original as you can. Having that little extra bit of history with the cab makes it just that much more cool.

Awesome video! More like this, PLEASE. I really like the long form video. Keep as much of the cabinet original as possible. Besides, the control panel overlay and front look great! Those Midway cabs were really imposing. So big and mean. Never sell this one!

Yes keep the original artwork and the control panel looks great like new and you did a good job in cutting around the button holes to get those stickers off. It's looking good and I wish I had that cabinet and at the time when it was release it was to expensive for me to buy so I had to pass up on it and I think Aladdin's Castle wanted $3k for it. I enjoyed your video and as always that was good knowledge for the people who never took a control panel off of a real arcade so watching you brought good memories of my time doing that so thanks buddy Ralph. :)

I love doing what I don't know what I'm doing... Figuring it out or making it up as you go. I give myself a little bit of creative edge though by having a good IPA, and a bowl of good weed. It's easier then for me not to force a situation and let things flow naturally.

Do NOT replace that original CP artwork. All the others are fair game. I’d replace all the carriage bolts with stainless steel. Project’s lookin great so far. 🦊👊🏼

That looks amazing! It’s so cool what you did with the bondo. When I saw your face book post asking what to do about that side of the control panel I was going to suggest taking it off, trace it on to another piece of wood, and cut a new one. I’m glad that I wasn’t sure what you were trying to do, and that you went with the bondo. So fun to watch, man!

This cab is looking awesome! Great work dude. It would be one of my favorites to own. Not just because the game but because the artwork. Pretty awesome that the cab has Nintendo on it. While I would love to own the real thing, Im going to have to settle for the Arcade1up version.

Just in case you are not aware, you can remove the metal panel(the piece that has the K.I. artwork on it) from the wood panel, so that you can replace those joystick dust shields

I've never worked on edges before but I would have stapled Bristol board to the edges instead of cardboard. You could bend it perfectly around curves

The T molding on the left side corner needs to be notched out a little more to allow for a smoother/rounder corner. It’s bulged out a little.

As multiple other have said, keep original as much as you can. If you have some pieces of spare/extra T molding, I would have used that at the corners/edges that needed bondo so you go fill it as close as possible to what it needs to be. Are you gonna do a plexy/film protective layer over the control panel artwork?

Hey Ralph... Rookie RU-vidr question here. When you are outside doing the control panel. How is your audio so good. Do you have a killer mic pointed at you? Do you have mic on your body? or do you just fix it in post?

Ralph will this work with a CPS-2B board that has a dead battery? I have several of my favorites but they haven't been plugged in and 15 to 20 years and I'm sure the batteries are all dead and in the past once they died you couldn't replace them.

Ralph you can buy Zacarria Platinum Bundle for $75 which gives all all the current tables and 50% any new tables created. Do you think Atgames is charging too much ($200 base price) for the four pinball packs WITHOUT the deluxe tables?
