No matter what you think about this movie it is probably not how you imagine. The first time I saw it I thought it was going to be this goofy romp with people in Clown makeup. I wasn't prepared for the incredible amount of detail that was put into it. The Klowns look amazing and all the little things, like the big top being a spaceship, just add to the film's cleverness. While many of the things are intentionally funny, the way they played the movie straight makes it stand out from others that have tried to do something similar. If you've never seen it, you must track this one down.

I think you misunderstand, I love the movie. I riff on the films, much like comedians roast their peers. Then after I go through the film I talk about its merits and behind the scenes stuff. As for this one, I am very excited the Chiodo Bros are currently working on the reboot/sequel. They made an amazing film that has effects that were way beyond what you would expect. Not a film snob at all, these movies are my wheelhouse.

Nothing like the horror comedies from the 80's. Some of them were so amazing that actually made you feel so good. Fright night, Brain Damage...among others.Clever movies.

Pennywise is creepy as hell. While IT lost a lot of steam for the second half, Tim Curry made Pennywise borderline iconic.

I remember looking at the VHS cover of this movie as a kid every time I rode my bike to the local milk bar (which had a small video rental in it). Even then I thought the movie looked bad, yet so good at the same time. I'm really going to have to watch it eventually.

Just found your page, love it. I ordered a copy of it off of Amazon before I went to a Christopher Titus stand up. After the show, I had him sign it. He laughed, "oh God." His wife asked about it. Apparently he had kept that from her, he had to explain it. He said it haunts him to this day. This was last year, loved having him sign it. Love this movie too!

I saw this movie around 1990 when I was 8 or 9 and it's been one of my favorite older "horror" movies. I used to rent it a lot when I would stay at my grandparents house. Can't wait for part 2 or whatever it is they're making.

One of my favorite horror comedies :) With the onslaught of clown horror movies that exist, this one is kinda overshadowed at times. It's just so funny, so creative and so likable. You did the movie justice with this review. Thank you =)

I wouldn't say it's the best movie ever, as that would go to Silver Bullet, but it's certainly one of the strangest B movies I've ever seen. But that's just my opinion. Now, have you ever heard of Comment Delay? It's when someone writes a comment on RU-vid, ( I'm writing this in 2015), and it then takes three to four years to register...damnedest thing.

This movie impresses the hell out of me! I had to see it twice to catch how much of an accomplishment it is because I was too busy being entertained the first time. Terrorvision is another movie that suprised me with how good it is, and subversive, lol!

i grew up on this awesome movie, as my family didnt see a problem with watching stuff like Conan the Barbarian or Timecop as long as it was the edited for tv versions like those shown on FOX, highly underrated B-Movie with a catchy and unforgettable theme song.

I remember renting this from Blockbuster when I was a kid, easily one of my favorite horror-comedies. A movie made in the 80's that's a faithful homage to 50's B-movies.

coderedmac Oh, I already did. Albeit way after Killer Klowns, but then again Forbidden Planet is pretty influential in terms of special effects. The Day the Earth Stood Still had effects, too, but Forbidden Planet still looks impressive in its own special way.

Damn I love this movie. If they ever approve a sequel. It would be cool to have B-movie cameos all over the place. Specifically Bruce Campbell's "Ash Williams" entering the Killer Klowns universe.

Great video as usual! One thing I do have to point out is that there weren't hundreds killed when the spinning top/tent exploded. They were all cocooned and dead already, so they just destroyed the cotton candy shells.

I think he was trying to toughen up his image to try and distance himself from the old days. Thankfully he has embraced it over the years and isn't as ashamed as he used to be. I don't think he has anything to be ashamed of. He kicks ass.

the idea of driving down a street and having a clown beside you driving nothing and the look of the second location of the clowns' ship makes me think they were inspired by Carnival of Souls

I'm a big fan and I really hope they do the sequel right. If you are into freaky clown related stuff, check out the Killer Clowns Deadlands Hell on Earth supplement. It is a post apocalyptic story that has major influence from the movie. Good luck with the comic!

This movie was shot in my hometown of watsonville! Most of the city scenes, the Plaza scene with the puppets, burger place and police station were all in watsonville, and the rest like the amusement park were shot in Santa Cruz

Such a good movie, the score, the soundtrack done by the dickies, the campiness and the amazing set design all make this movie such a fun watch. The practical effects and matte paintings just bring a charm that was only in movies from this time.

I'm watching this for like the 100th time right now, have been audiobooking "It" to refresh for the new movie, and between them, Captain Spaulding, weird real clowns scaring people in parks, and the ultimate AHS's Twisty where my friend literally took one long look and got up and left the room with a "Nope. No, no, no. No.", seriously were clowns ever not scary???

Many times when you see a classic A lister show up somewhere, its either a favor or simply something they always wanted to do. Rutger Hauer always wanted to play a vampire, hence why he took the role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

@dornravlin according to the director he said it was supposed to be kind of humorous ending until they remembered that the pies can kill people. I guess we'll find out in the sequel if they lived or died.

Remember seeing this when I was a young kid. Been at least 20 years since I have seen it again. I recall loving it as a kid. Also had a bit of a crush on the clown girls near the end.

I like this movie a lot. Say what you want about the Terrenzi Bros. but they were my favorite characters. The thing about the farmer and his dog was so sad though. He was a sweet old guy.

I got Killer Klowns on DVD last Halloween. It's a hell of a lot of fun and probably my favorite horror comedy B movie after Dead Heat. I agree that it's a very creative movie. Taking the concept of the Blob and combining it with the cheesy humor/punk rock aesthetic of "Return of the Living Dead" and adding monstrous clowns works really well. (I also agree that the Killer Klowns blow Pennywise out of the water)

They didn't bother me all that much, they were the cornball comic relief. The old guy and his dog was sad. I know I would do the same thing, hopefully with better results.
