Is society really more important than your own flesh and blood? I remember my mother, uncle, and aunt telling me about a neighbor who lost their youngest daughter to domestic violence. This was before I was born. She was married at the age of 16, with a ridiculous dowry. Within a year, she was found dead in a borewell. Her in-laws claimed she had committed suicide. When her body was retrieved, it was covered in bruises, and her neck was broken. How does someone break their neck by drowning? This girl was the apple of everyone's eye-the kindest person in the entire neighborhood. Yet, no one batted an eye when her in-laws claimed she had committed suicide. It was later revealed that she was pregnant. It baffles me how everyone in the neighborhood accepted this gruesome death and moved on. No one cared that a 17-year-old life was taken away by merciless people who now live a normal life without facing the consequences of their actions.
