That's a great pedal for sure, really tightens the sound when playing hard chugs. At least that's what I noticed listening to your demo. And that Cerberus riff will be on my top 10 for a looong time

The nature of the beast with compression. It evens everything out, and that often means bringing lower-volume noise up. As someone who swears by using light compression before an OD for my favorite tone, it's something you have to deal with if it bothers you. However, I think it's reasonable to just buy a noise gate pedal. Quite frankly, a cheap Behringer NG costs 24 dollars and gets the job done if you DON'T have one. I highly recommend it for guitariests who on the fence about getting an NG. From there, you can go up in price if you want. I personally wouldn't. But as they say... buy nice or buy twice.

@Cameron Smith Well, it has a compressor and a overdrive, I've never saw a compressor or an overdrive that comes with a built in NG. Also we need to point out that Ola is using full gain on a compressor, you can't escape noise in this case, if you see other reviews with less gain you notice that it's not the pedal by itself.

Oh sweeeet! On the site it says the pedal EQ cuts the mud frequencies on the signal before it even hits the distortion and there's compression knobs to keep chugs under control! Dude this is sick!

Recto is probably the most loose modern high gain amp out there. Completely unplayable for me without a good mid boost/low cut if tuned lower than D standard.

I liked the Sound without Mud Killer, too. But the pedal sure tightened up the sound to make it more useful in a dense mix. Imagine two of those double- tripple- quadruple rectos plus old style SVT - sound and drums. You need to tighten this up, or the rumble will take over the mix.

About time we got a w newer designed of pedal.. I wasn't a fan of the precision drive.. I liked the mini more.. but still not my favorite.. this is way heck more better..... sooo... will you do a review of the way huge pickle green rhino or pickle or whatever it's called..lol. For those who think the tone has gotten "worse" with the pedal, understand that in a mix context (and that the pedal was at 3 o'clock when it was engaged), whoever said that: may change their mind. Interesting pedal ... you can do "pratical things" with fuzz pedals, working well with Marshall style pedals and amps apparently. This pedal and also has a "underdrive" feature (something that Ola didn't show) and definitely it's good for thrash, classic metal tones (and for this kinda of tones you can check the video of Mud Killer in the Circle of Tone channel).

It's perhaps matter of taste when practicing solo, but in the context of a live / studio mix, the less mud the better.
