Skeletron is not defeated, and thus Dungeon Guardians can and will render you.

Ornate shield is way better in calamity, because the dark it gives you is a shield ram, that gives i-frames when you dash through an enemy.

While Plantera may allow bone lee to spawn in the dungeon, You still need to defeat skeletron to access the dungeon; which is an optional boss

yharon infernum is the worst terraria fight i have ever had the displeasure of attempting

ik this is a bit old but before 1.4.4 when i was crafting zenith in a normal world i killed moonlord 110 times before getting the needed swords

Reminds me of killing undead miners to get 5 steak for unlimited well fed. Iirc one of my friends went around 25-50 undead miners with nothing

37 kills for the 1/6 tactical shotgun drop in a dungeon with no tactical skeleton spawns moment

I think the ones that I gotten had a lower dps than the phantasm did so I just stuck with it. In all honesty, my calamity knowledge isn't the best, so I kind of forgot about weapons like the golden eagle. That probably would have worked, I might go back to the dummy world and try yharon with it and see how it goes.

@@theeternalpotato203 Golden eagle is a really good weapon for providence. I have used it several times. So yeah, its probably better than the phantasm.

@@theeternalpotato203 I've done pre-moonlord yharon before for a different challenge run, where if you are on the 1.4 Tmodloader and go into death mode than yharon kills himself eventually, dealing 2% of his hp after every attack cycle. For me it took around 1.5 hours of attempts and the final fight took a bit over 18 minutes of just dodging.

Update, I found out that yharon still deals self damage on all difficulties, but only in his 2nd phase, so you can do it in normal mode but you'll need to deal 25% of his hp in damage before he starts doing self damage

Finally someone who gets it. I enjoy the exploration part like finding the draedon labs and things like that. For this run they were mostly useless so I wanted to get the mining and plant farming stuff out of the way

@@theeternalpotato203 I'm personally fine with most of the qol stuff you used, eg. infinite ammo and stuff to remove grind, but I think the infinite mana, buff stacking with combo potions, and out of mod accessory are way more than just qol. Anything that affects actual combat feels wrong in a challenge where the limiting factor is the limited gear and lack of damage.

when I played calamity mod I got lazy after killing moon lord, but I didn't feel like installing a bunch of QoL mods so I just used cheat engine to equip myself reasonably and then give myself the spawn item for the next boss

LuiAFK is probably the only one I have issues with, the rest of them are pretty convenient QoL mods

@@jedifiter23 I find fargo's mutant mod to be a bit overboard unless you've also gone overboard on content mods. LuiAFK is great in my opinion... aside from the fact that the whole infinite throwing items thing doesn't really work. I don't use all the features though, so take it with a grain of salt

The sound of the star cannon wasn't the least bit annoying.

Couldn't ravager be replaced with skeleton though? You only needed ravager for the cores iirc, so you could unlock dungeon for essence of chaos and ectoplasm meaning you can craft the 3 cores! This does come with the downside of not having the scoria armor though, but that can also be fixed by killing ml instead of folly if it still works that way Low% to scal sounds fun btw because you need so much stuff you can kill a good few bosses

It is possible that Hydrothermic armor + Daybreak could do better, however, due to Yharon's health, the best strategy would probably just be letting him damage himself... It would still be unbelievably long but it would work.

I’d be curious to have someone confirm my math, but Daedalus in 21 kills is like a 1/2800 chance

RNG is a bitch, I recently farmed me a Rod of Discord, I don't like cheesing things but after some 1500 Chaos elemental kills I gave up and made the farm AFK. Got the drop some time after 2400 kills.

I shit you not I had to kill the Calamitas Clone 20+ times just for her summoner drop. 33% drop chance by the way.

@@leomillett8553 just checked my math, I was off. If the chance of getting Daedalus is .25, the chance of not getting it is .75. Not getting it in 20 kills is 20 simultaneous 75% chances, or .75^20 or a .00317121 chance (1/315ish). This is my best guess on how to find the odds, no idea where I got 2800 lol

For me it’s roughly 2 and a half(I started with the pandemic) but that won’t stop me from being almost at 1000 hours

I will agree with that for the end when I kind of just used whatever. That is why I have spent the past few months doing the run again and doing it better. For stuff like grinding though, I and many other people in the comments agree, those "crutches" to cut out time were fine because I had people watching me and I didn't want to waste their time. No one wants to watch me mine like in vanilla Terraria for hours, and I don't want to do something that kills interest in the run, so that's where things like the Map of the King's Ancestors and other things came in. This needed to run a fine line between entertainment and challenge, so I did some things to increase the entertainment and clearly it's paying off.

The thing is that nowadays the "vanilla" calamity experience is to have mods like alchemistNPC in the run, so using buffs that are mod specific to alchemistNPC is generally just fine ,unless you're going for an acceptable no-hit. But that's just my opinion, an also in my opinion infinite ammo is cheap to use, since when choosing a weapon you should be required to consider it's ammo cost as well.

@@storm_fling1062 than don't use the weapon, or just use a mod, that actively ignores the balance weapons like star cannon have, since it's very powerful for a post evil 1 weapon, the rarity of the ammo makes it balanced as a weapon

@b0ne_r3aper78 no it doesn't its just an annoyance to search for stars. Just because the ammo for something is annoying to get doesn't make it balanced and it should be fair game if you can require a large amount of them like luiafk does

I got the coin gun while doing pirates in eternity mode as a summoner

It does, but you need to get materials for it from the dungeon, which for the low%, I would never enter there. This is why I was left with the ornate shield for a dash. As for why I didn't use it for yharon when I did allow the dungeon to make the cocktail glove, I just forgot about it.

After watching the video I now understand why he started in 1.3.5

And I just did a test on kill yharon with the coin gun and platinum coins (in god mode to eliminate my bad playing) the fight took 13 and a half minutes exactly so a sub 15 minute fight is totaly realistic and way better than my original 18+ minute kill in death mode by avoiding all attacks and getting yharon to kill himself. and apparently yharon starts dealing 2% damage to himself right after the 1st phase at 75% hp, s oyou can have 2 sets of accessories for damage on the 1st phase and than switch to a more defensive build and probably shave off a minute or 2. I did the kill with the set of equipment I liset in my main comment except I use hadal mantle as wings. And for a realistic way to get all the platinum coins is to make a mob farm in the cavern layer and make it in to an astral biome, and make the side spawn platforms in to astral stone, if you use the farm with a zerg and battle potions during a blood moon on death mode you can get up to 100 platinum coins in 12 minutes, and based on some damage calculations your going to need between 4000 to 6000 coins to kill yharon based on how accurate you are, so it's realistic but not fast to get all that money. So it's realistically possible to kill yharon pre-moonlord by only killing WoF, Lunatic cultist, Ravager and Dragonfolly.

And you can leave the calamity hard mode progression on if you want, you can now fish for the hardmode ore from there respective crates.

Reaver shark can no longer mine hellstone in 1.4 Plantera is optional as Eidolists spawn at any stage of hardmode You can use the star cannon rather than dragoon drizzlefish as meteor bars spawn within gold chests near to the underworld

@@mentallyborn2638 reaver shark can mine hellstone in 1.4 in calamity, and I'm aware of plantera being optional but I wanted to explain how I'd do the bosses in the video. And dragoon drizzlefish is faster to get than star cannon and it doesn't even use any ammo, so to me it seems like the better option

Also I think this run makes the idea of pre moon lord scal possible?

I don‘t think it‘s possible to summon scal pre moon lord, I‘m pretty sure you need post moon lord stuff to craft the necessary items

@@MrFrog-kq4rw Yeah now after looking up the crafting recipe for the summon it might be much less possible, didn't think about needing a cosmic anvil

The plantera pre-hardmode thing was already patched out sadly

@@peebutt5280 you only need to add calamitas clone, moonlord and DoG to this to make it possible to do low% to Scal, since you don't need ulibloom from providance to get auric ore, because you can get it by fishing for titanium crates

EoC really is the biggest threat to a run like that. He's partially the reason I did the true low % run

Depends on what you're after. For blocks like the alchemy table and bewitching table, yes since those are part of the worldgen. I learned that after this run. As for enemies like bone Lee's, no since no enemies will spawn until skeletron is defeated.
