This is the nearest distillery to where I live and Brendan Carty, who is behind it, is very pro transparency, which is fantastic. It's a tiny distillery with a big cult following. Not had this one yet, but I've got it and I'll review it soon too. It gets many rave reviews. Great to see it's available with you too Mark. Cheers bud.
First of all Happy 🐣 Easter to you all. That sounds like a fine spirit. Noted. Last whisky with a rum finish was the Glen scotia double cask Demerara rum cask finish bottled at 46. Its an addition to the double cask version. Not that familiar with rum cask finished whisky but this video and the purchase of this glen scotia certainly helps to gain ground. And right now as we speak I’m having a Douglas Laing premium single barrel 10 yo Fettercairn only 430 bottles. Nicely priced also 79€. Gonna do some research about Killowen whisky. Never heard of them so Thnks Mark for sharing and cheers, proost, slainthe, zum wohl
Happy Easter belatedly! Wow that Glen Scotia sounds great. I think the house style will suit Demerara rum. Funkiness with extra rummy funkiness! Fettercairn - also a distillery I love. Killowen - I think you’ll like it. Cheers, Konbae!🥃🥃🥃🥃
@@WhiskyWhistle Thnks mark. I love Irish whiskies. Especially the ones who are high on alcohol. Yesterday I came home early. Spend my time buying 3 bottles of Loch Lomond whisky finished in 3 different types of wine casks. You couldn’t buy them separately. You had to buy the wine also. To compare. Wonderfull. I thinks it’s gonna be a lovely weekend. Inviting some friends over. I’m sure now. One is a vittichio bolgheri wine finish from Tuscany. 2nd a yarden Cabernet Sauvignon from the Golan heights finish and the 3rd a Cantine Pellegrino Marsala. Can’t wait till Saturday. Cheers konbea. what language is it? Konbea?
Tried it for the first time tonight. Love the Rum flavour. Definitely changes a whole lot with a drop of water added. Prefer the straight dram, rum, raisin and spicy, yum…..
Normally whiskey this sweet is not a favourite. However, this one continues to delight for me. Darker sugars paired with dried fruits in a light spirit keeps me coming back! Thanks for sharing your thougths, cheers!
Hi I am the owner / founder distiller at Killowen - and cask manager in this case - thanks for the video - please note we do not add colour - absolutely never. many thanks
A slip of the tongue..??? In your opening remark you said "Irish single malt SCOTCH whiskey...🥃" Very eloquent presentation. This is the first I hear of Killowen. I'm OK with anything Cooley does, especially their single grain whiskies (Clonakilty and Teeling) 😄. I love the Cadbury Fruit & Nut reference... How can you resist that..?!?!
Hahaha Lorenz exactly! I usually do a few takes of the opener but this one was a one off. It would look terrible if I edited it!! Amazingly this one is the most different amongst the numerous Cooley sourced whiskeys I’ve tried. This should be $50 ish in your area if available - great value! Cheers my friend🥃🥃🥃🥃
