NO DOUBT! No egos. It's all love out there with those guys. Any other band that has replaced vocalists, they are quick to talk shit about the previous guy i.e. Van Halen, Black Sabbath etc. But Howard and Jesse have developed a legitimate friendship and that is one of the best things that can happen in music. my hat is off to KSE!

I think, (but I dont know), it was pretty much mutual. Howard has struggled with type 2 diabetes for a long time but the Adam D and the fam all like to drink and tour like crazy. Those lifestyles aren't necessarily exclusive but I can imagine wanting to distance yourself from it.
No Jesse pushing himself too hard then leaving, Howard taking over and transforming the band, Jesse getting healthy in time for Howard to need a break, and then Jesse coming back is the best thing to ever happen for Killswitch Engage.
playing devils advocate and i hope im wrong...are KSE a pretty ruthless band, dumping their singers as soon as a problem arises? Their hereos Def Lepard waited for their drummer to recover from an amputated fuckin arm.
Idea: Killswitch rehire Howard, and the band operates with both vocalists getting equal representation. It would be tough to pull off on albums efficiently, but the tours would be incredible. Howard does leads and Jesse does backup on the Howard era stuff, and vice versa with Jesse’s era. Even just one tour like that would be a huuuuge draw.
Howard left the band due to his own disinterest in the band! I prefer Howard over Jesse big time but lets be real here, he wouldnt want to join the band anyway.
Would be a dream come true if Jesse and Howard created a KSE album together sharing the vocals. Both amazing vocalists and they compliment each other very well.
They're writing one together right now for the next album, and Jesse has also made a guest appearance on End of Heartache, specifically the track "Take This Oath."
You know that feeling you have when you watch this? It's the same feeling when you see mom and dad get back together. It's a feeling of wholesome unity. At the end of the day, it's what gives you closure.
I wish they could both just be in the band! I fucking love Howard and Jesse and just hearing them both in a song is spectacular. Can’t wait for the new album to come out and hear Howard on it😁🤘🏽
I was there and in that part I started to cry , 2:39 , , the album The end of heartache was what brought me to Killswitch Engage and see howard back to sing my favorite song and jesse helping on the backing vocals, is priceless
The band is sick all have talent, but Howard brought another higher element to the table. Pains me when I hear people try to mimic his vocals. Their lead vocalist is good, but there is only one Howard Jones. Glad Howard is doing well and still making music. Kudos to Killswitch for keeping it 100 by bringing Howard on stage. Anyone else have this on loop?
I've always been a fan of Killswitch Engage with Jesse Leach more, but this song is truly Howard Jones all the way, it was made for his voice and seeing them both perform it together shows they wont bullshit when credit is due. Major respect to them all for doing this.
One of the best comments I've read in this thread. I tend to lean towards Jesse too (although I do love and respect both), but yes, this is truely a Howard tune. It was Indeed awesome of the band to let him up there to tear this shit up.
Damn if Jones wasn’t doing Light the Torch then I highly recommend he returns to Killswitch and they continue as a 6 piece... he seems healthy enough to be back
I’d rather have them be Brother Bands. Makes the situation better. And the surprise of having Howard come live a couple times a year would drive sales up for both bands.
I remember in 2000, I was playing in a band in Massachusetts with this dude, and he says “you gotta hear this band Killswitch Engage”. He gave me a burner of AOJB and I was hooked. I bought “The End of Heartache” the first day it came out, and I was skeptical of their new vocalist. It turns out, that album literally brought me to tears many times, that’s how good it is. I was bummed when Howie left the band, but was happy that they got their OG guy Jessie back, as he’s the guy that got me into the band in the first place. Anyhow, I’m lucky enough to live near most of these men and have shared moments with them, and they are truly one of the greatest metal bands of the last 20 years and sincerely good dudes. And if you haven’t heard Times of Grace, check the album out. It was made during the limbo period after Howard left, and features Jessie and Adam D on vocals and Adam on all the instruments, pretty much just like AOJB.
that's cool, my brother was in a band in the Boston Merrimack Valley area around the time opening many times for only living witness and Sam Black Church but they broke up and I lost touch with the scene and these guys came after. Glad I found out about them though.
Everytime I search (Howard Jones Metal) and I see the picture preview of this video, I click it to play, only then to gracefully see at the beginning of the video Mr. End Of Heartache himself, Howard Jones start walking out onto the stage as the guitar starts to play. The feelings and emotions that start playing through my heart and mind when he starts singing. Man!
Towards the middle/end, Adam runs off stage right before he jumps in to his solo and goes to the venue's bar to get a shot. He does his solo at the bar. It's sick as hell. There's videos of it. When he's gone off stage, he's playing wireless while simultaneously taking a shot!
the way how these two dudes act with each other sound and vibe together? I don't care who leads, they both sound Sick to me and present a significant time for KillSwitch. Also nobody ever mentions how the bass player is always doing some cool stuff on stage haha
Yes Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. I'm never ashamed to say that. Howard Jones, godbless him for his songs. The End Of Heartache album is the #1 KSE album for me that he did that to makes him LEGEND! The Daylight Dies and second self titled album he did before he left were also very awesome. But The End Of Heartache albums hits closest to home because those were the golden days of my youth growing up with metal back in the early 2000's when metal and rock ruled the radio.
The weirdest part is that Howard Jones was the original singer for Killswitch Engage before he formed light the torch, so if you were to listen to this song that's his voice
Jesse Leach was the original lead but Howard played a major role in what made them famous. If not for Howard Killswitch may have never been what it is. Same goes for Jesse. They both gave us something amazing.
@@C.Brooks329 also if your wondering where Howard was before then he was in blood has been shed which is where Justin Foley came from also to replace Tom Gomes. Honestly I prefer Tom on drums. Just more technical then Justin in my mind from there second album. But just my opinion.
I am born, raised and live in the Caribbean , I grew up loving soca and reggae music. Somehow I stumbled on this band maybe a decade ago, and they are my favourite band in this era of music hands down.
Killswitch Engage and Bullet For My Valentine is two best unforgetable metalcore bands, their music its a real metalcore, real singing, real extreme vocals, real lyrics real music. And not only hadbanging riffs, and lirics about stupid girlfriend.
This should speak volumes on both men and what adults they are! Jesse shows what a secure, mature man he is for asking Howard to perform this classic with him.
1:33 is just flat out so damn heavy. Everytime I hear that section when the double bass kicks in with open hi hats and the matching guitar I get goosebumps. It's literally too good.
so awesome! I'm so lucky to have met both howard and jesse at different times. Met howard when he was in killswitch back in 2004 and met jesse in 2014 and both great dudes. Have both era's signed by them too so this is special to see them together on stage again!
