The Canadian man, 31, is serving 5 years jail time in Singapore for robbery and bringing large amount of undeclared cash out of Singapore. He fled to Thailand and served jail time there. Singapore and Thailand do not have an extradition treaty. He was deported upon release. He flew to Britain en route to Canada. He was detained by British authorities because UK and Singapore have extradition treaty. The UK government would allow the extradition if Singapore undertake not to cane him. Singapore agreed in order not to let him get away. Although the Singapore court sentenced him to 5 years jail and 6 strokes of the cane, the President cancelled the caning part fulfilling our assurance to UK government.
I think this case was really fishy. Firstly, the robber should not even have a chance to fly out of S'pore. If the bank made police report, S'pore Police should be able to track him and got him by all means. Secondly, the bank teller should have ample time to inform his manager and get nearby police to come and stop this robbery case. Imagine the robber was alone without weapon. I think Standard Chartered bank working process is really something we need to look into. It really made no sense for the robber to even get away.
Lucky not in malaysia My relative said newspaper The robbery sneak in the house And rob the family But the family got one man want to fight back The robber take out a knife Then they fight The man fights back and accidentally stab the robber Then the robber die Then the police caught the man because of self defence The robber trying to kill u but you cant fight back what shit logic is that Lucky last time singapore leave malaysia if not now singapore also kanasai
Just a curious question what happens when u stop a robber but the robber got hurt in the process like broken arms/bruises will u be charged for attempted murder/assault?
Its the Klan in Malaysia there was one incident where in Malaysia a robber tried to rob a house from a family but the Father of the family fought back and accidentally stabbed the robber with the robber’s knife and he went to jail
Since no weapon was was used and no threats was implied, this GIVE ME $$$ note is merely a simple request for money. The teller give him the money willingly. Therefore it cannot be considered a robbery. No crime committed. haha
The teller was only following standard protocol. If the teller were to shout BURGLAR and if the person had weapons and someone in the bank got hurt, the lawsuit would cause more than 30k.
Dont be such a dimwit. I am picking up on what KimHuat said in this vid. This is a comedy channel. Everything is shit to be laugh at and de-stress. May be you should just go read the newspaper.. more suitable for you.
Thanks for the reply, good internal control, $30k could only last some people one year, at most a few years. $30k may not worth the effort the rob the bank, and now his caught.
See , run to Thailand also kenna caught. I suggest just hide in your own house la. In Chinese , there is a saying "The most dangerous place is the safest place ".

Just to let him feels how it is like when someone throw such comment at him. You can say fuck or whatever vulgar words you may chose to throw at me but do not mention someone's mother. Whether it is a false flag or not i don't care because i gain nothing. Anyway i have withdrawn half of my savings to buy gold bars and gold coins and store them in bullion vault a couple of years ago. After-all banks pays near zero interest rates. Now i am worry leaving my money with banks because a decent looking bespectacled man who came to Singapore for the first time knows which bank to "rob" pick a bank far away from the airport with only a piece of paper and got away with $30k. Next few days i am withdrawing all my money buy gold and store in gold vault. Like this i can sleep soundly. I thought the "robber" must be an ugly fierce big size man that frighten the bank teller to quietly hand the money to him without her colleagues, the armed security guard or the bank manager knowing it. Looks like the teller was frighten but calmly counted the $30k. It is quite amazing. Just like my neighbour have said, "just a piece of paper can get away with $30k, if use gun the entire bank vault will be wipe clean."
If you're wealthy then yes, it's smart to diversify your wealth by buying gold. However, the value of gold is extremely volatile because majority of the value is extrinsic, in what others will pay for it. Price of gold will depreciate often and you might end up losing your wealth if you buy too much. It's not the smartest move to withdraw all your money from your bank because of a mishap like this
Bill Jackson It is not about how wealthy I am. It is about how easy a bank can be robbed in Singapore. It is about all the statement regarding the robbery that we were told don't made sense at all. You imaging walking into a bank with a piece paper written on it "bank robbery, I am armed hand me $30k" and the teller was frighten (she immediately press the silent alarm warning), in the mean time she calmly gathering and counting the $30k ($30k not $3k) not to alert her colleagues for fear of her life, the moment the silent alarm is on, the manager knows which counter teller press the alarm and immediately call 999. A NPC post is just around the corner and there are policemen in police cars patrolling Holland Village areas. How long does it take for the first police patrol car to respond to a bank robbery or long does it take for the policemen at the NPC to reach the bank. Ok, the police came late but the moment the "robber" is about to walk out of the bank, surely the teller would have raise the alarm vocally and alert the armed security guard. Don't forget all this while the "robber" is not holding any gun. Looks like the bank robber sure knows how to pick the right bank. A bank far away from the airport. First time visitors are not familiar with Singapore. Where to stay , yes, but which bank to rob, what bus and mrt line to the airport from Holland Village. If he take a cab very fast catch because cab companies will immediately notified their drivers on the lookout for the suspect. It takes about 30 mins to reach airport by cab and at least another 2 hours to board the plane. The 2 and a half to three hours period would have given the police ample time to trace the robber. I thought the "robber" is a ugly fierce big size man that would frighten the teller out of living daylight but he is a decent looking small size bespectacled man. Now we know he is a Canadian and not an Australian. Yes, how did they know he is an Australian in the first place. Now the drama getting more excited. He was caught in a country Singapore have no repatriation agreement. Thailand will most probably sent him back to his country Canada. In the meantime the world's media will have a field day reporting about this "mother of all bank robbery."
