It’s so insane to me, I saw her decades ago on a German TV show called SternTV in a segment where she was talking about her experience as a transgender teenager. And she was already dead set on becoming an artist. I never knew she made it until I became obsessed with the virtual music group K/DA and saw her name as an artist on one of their tracks. Her name sounded so familiar when I remembered that TV segment. She really did make a lasting impression on me and I’m so happy for her she got to make her dreams come true. Not to mention I got to fall into a rabbit hole catching up to all of her music. Love it!
Absolutely! She's just been working so hard for so many years and to finally receive her accolades must be a dream come true. She's truly a musical genius. Hopefully her next record brings her out to the mainstream even more!

She deserves all the attention she’s finally getting plus so much more. Clarity is one of my favorite albums of all time. Tbh Unholy isn’t even close to her best song. I’m so happy for her!!!

I only discovered Kim Petras existing just last summer here on youtube because I watched the video for Future Starts Now. I love that song. I have never heard of her until that video! So here is it Febuary 2024, and I've been discovering more of her older songs(on youtube only because I can't afford a Spotify account) and I'm in awe of her! The irony of me likeing her music, is I hate pop music! But her songs connect with me! I get it now. It's truly amazing that her parents supported her in transitioning after she reached legal age! She is truly inspiring. In my early 20's(I'm 47) I realized that I wanted to be a woman, but I didn't know the word transgender! I was trying to navigate finishing up junior college, and trying to find a job. It was hard enough trying find a job I was qualifed for much less try to look "femme" and be accepted by my fellow Gen Xers. as I had no money for women's clothes and wigs(as I couldn't grow my hair out) and make up, much less estrogen treatments and facial and vaginal surgeries! Alas ,it was not be. I thought about suicide frequently, but I realized that if went through with it, my parents and brother would have ben devistated. I didn't know Kim thought about suicide too! She being a Gen Yer, I just assumed she was going to be accepted in the pop industry as a trans woman! Holy shit, there was a lot going with her that I didn't know. Wonderful video though!

i dont listen to her genre of music, i was only kinda peripherallly aware of her cause i try to keep up with lgbtq+ news as a gender questioning pansexual myself, so i knew she was trans, but much more shocking to me: shes german??? and from kölle/bonn??? so close to where im from??? girl what?? now THAT i didnt know :D we need more visibility for lgbtq people in germany, i will be sure to bring up this fact with people at my next opportunity hehe

Kim has been working hard for so long it’s so nice to her succeeding especially as a trans woman & I like how she doesn’t make her gender identity her entire personality.
I just love her, she is beautiful and fabulous. I'm sorry her journey was so hard but it made her who she is now. She has a bright future ahead of her.

I mean, its not like her bones are any bigger. I think that people just look more androgenous when they gain weight. Guys look less traditionally manly when they are more fat. It converges. Also, different make up and maybe some surgery, like every pop star gets. Idk why they all get lip fillers tbh, but you do you.
Actually she doesn't need to take hormone blockers because she doesn't produce enough testosterone anymore, because she had sex reassignment surgery. She still needs to take estrogen forever though, if not, she would have serious health problems. That's just how hormone replacement therapy works on a transgender person.
Debatable. What part of the human body dictates behavior? Isn't it the brain? As far as I'm concerned the brain is still part of our biology and trans brains do work like women's , so even if she was born a male her brain never was.
