The level of maturity of thia confession is just wow. It was calm, but heartfelt. You can really feel the care of an unselfish love coming from Han Jipyeong. 😓

I feel like Han Ji Pyeong's character and story is the most interesting to me. An orphan that grew up into a smart and wealthy businessman discovering his emotions that he closed off. When he was younger, his focus was on surviving, not falling in love and that's why years later when he realizes how much Dal mi cherished his letters and remembered him, he finally understood. He had always liked Dal mi but didn't realize it when he was younger and that's why he went to great length to not hurt her feelings later on. Also his character having all the traits of being straightforward, rational, calm, kind, supportive, silly and humorous makes it exciting to watch. It's refreshing to see a character that isn't one dimensional but can express so many personalities (seon-ho's acting is top notch). Ji pyeong truly deserves a good ending, he sacrifices himself too much for other's happiness, it's about time he finds his own.

dosan and dal mi aside, we can’t deny the fact that jipyeong and granny won a lot of hearts on this show. their story is even much more interesting than the lead love story. i just dont understand why the show started with jipyeong leading a strong foundation of the story then putting him aside as a third wheel. it doesn’t make any sense. Jipyeong must really be the man. otherwise, i would say this story is just a weird one.

he really...set the table for her, poured her water, mixed her noodles FIRST, all while confessing his feelings for her and he did it /twice/ - he admits to her that he likes her for the first time, realises that he was looking at the noodles while doing so, so he put down the chopsticks, sat a little bit straighter, looked her in the eye and confessed to her AGAIN. straightforward, no expectations, pure honesty...because the truth was all she's asking for during those times. a whole gentleman. let me cry.

these type of confessions are so perfect. they make my heart flutter because of how realistic it is. lots of kdramas like to portray confessions as something that should be very cheesy, like with flowers, gifts etc. we all know in real life there is no perfect way to confess to someone. but sometimes, saying the sentence "i like you" casually over a meal in an environment where both parties are comfortable with, is just enough for it to be sincere and make your heart flutter

whoever created this character and cast Seon Ho in this role, was dead wrong. There has to be another level of SML syndrome bc Ji Pyeong surpass this. Confessing his feelings (though in a business like manner), not putting any blame on DoSan, explaining why they did it while so naturally setting her utensils, pouring her drink, mixing her noodles is just *chef kiss* I LOVE AND ADORE HIM SO MUCH. I know DoSan will be going through a transformation where he comes back more confident, successful and wealthy so will be on a more even playing field with Ji Pyeong, but to me JP is it. But for Dal Mi, I just want her to be happy. I'm not too (ok trying not to be) hung up on her most likely ending up with DoSan, the passionate kiss on the roof confirmed to me he was end game lol.

It's so unfair that Dosan friends don't let him talk or even see Dalmi and Dosan really accept Alex offer just because he "don't want plan b" meaning he doesn't want Jipyeong close to Dalmi, meanwhile Jipyeong let everything happen naturally and even talk good about Dosan to Dalmi, he confessed to her and immediately tell Dosan and say that he's going to fight for Dalmi's love, he doesn't interfere between Dalmi and Dosan, he's the best really.

It takes a real man not to balme on others. I really love his character. The way he explained really mature and sophisticated. Considering he was an orphan who grew up all alone. Unlike DoSan character who tried to play the pity part just to get the girl to forgive him.

This scene was just perfect. He was completely relaxed and resolved. He was sure he had to tell her how he felt, but at the same time he was cautious and mindful of her discomfort. Without being overbearing or demanding, he was honest. He did it over noodles because to him his love for her was not some grand gesture or some trophy, it was just a matter of fact. stole this from another yt video of this scene

Its common sometimes in Kdramas that second leads are adorable but the main lead will still outshine the second lead (thats in my case atleast) But this drama is an exception. If you dont have any idea about the plot nor the actors you could really say Han Jipyeong is the main lead. This is the first time that I cried over a second male lead. The fact that he owns the story, the plot's all connected to him even the revenge story, he is not just a typical supporting actor who is just there to add rivalry nor to add spices but he is the one leading the story. The person whose only goal is to protect and make the leads happy even he sacrifices his own happiness. His character is so significant and he is always there for them yet he is lonely. It broke my heart that noone even asked him if he is alright after Dalmi found out about the letters. The second lead is really strong that he gives me too much tears and heartaches. But eventhough I know he will not be the end game I am still rooting for him, giving hopes to myself that maybe a miracle could happen. Or if not I just wish he will get his happy ending. Han Jipyeong deserves it like everyone else. I will never forget his character. And Kim Seonho is perfect Han Jipyeong we could ever have!

I feel the chemistry is way better with mr Han than with Do San,,he is not a strong character and very immature. I believe the director got these two mixed up, which makes the mystery a little boring

Jipyeong keeps tryna clear the air for Do San every time he speaks. Even before himself. He agreed to go get the letter and give it to Do San while he was still crying in the car. He’s completely selfless in every way. He moves for her sake without needing anything in return. The fact that he said he likes her at all is SUCH A BIG STEP. I’m so proud of him. Jipyeong cannot express how he feels, he calls his love for Dal Mi’s grandmother a debt, the fact that he’s acknowledging he likes her, the fact that he’s finally admitting to his feelings, the fact that he said why can’t it be me? (I’ll cry again) He’s come so far. He’s having such an incredible arc. It feels like a main character. Jipyeong is the male lead to me.

I still don't get it why the writer of this drama created a strong character for the male second lead (Han Ji Pyeong) which makes me rooting for him so much more than the main one (the male main lead character is just boring). Moreover, Kim Seon Ho was casted for this role which makes it even stronger with his charismatic and charming looks. I hope the ending won't be disappointing. Han Ji Pyeong deserves a happy ending love story.

The only one to blame here is the writer,, I mean considering her previous works, I did not believe this was gonna be this messy. I mean, why the heck did she create HJP character thoughtfully and introduced him first, giving him so much screentime, instead of focusing in her 1st lead who is clearly now 2nd in the audiences eyes. If I was SDM, I would never choose a guy like NDS, the way he is now. Ofc there's that (boring) time skip for that, but Mr. Han is the better one, we all know it. Nothing is gonna change even If the writer tries to throw him under the bus to make NDS shine. IMO.

In the coming episodes the writer is going to desperately try and clean up Do-San's act to make him look like he's the one, what she doesn't realise is that HJP has made his way into the viewers hearts already. The whole storyline was running on his shoulders. Idk how is he the second Male lead? I mean only because Do-San is going to end up getting the girl, he's going to be the male lead? That's not the credibility. The show is running because of this one character. As for this scene, the maturity he displays. He's so courteous and sophisticated. He didn't try to pull Do-San down, infact took responsibility for his actions and explained it without giving excuses. Ladies, isn't that what all of us want from a man? We know our partners are going to make mistakes, but responsibility for that mistake, rarely men take it. Oh man, he's just such a fine man. He didn't even pressure her into an answer or made her feel uncomfortable in any way. He wasn't cheesy and over the top, instead very matter of factly stated his honest feelings for her. My heart, it just breaks. One look at the way he looks at her, and you know HJP is whipped for SDM. All of their scenes are stealing the show and then the writers are like "Guys but NDS is the lead!" This is so disappointing as a viewer, you can't simply brush off a well written character like HJP in the coming episodes just because you realise things have gotten out of hand. They're going to do that. That doesn't change the facts though. Oh my God I can go on and on about this. Kim Seon Ho can act y'all. Other than being dangerously attractive, he is such a good actor. The range of expressions and feelings he has portrayed in his limited screen time has made him the start of this show. No hate on NDS tho. But the writers need to stop tormenting the viewers. #TeamHJP

Why has Dalmi not confronted her grandmother? By the end everyone is being selfish except for Mr Hans. He has given all to make sure grandma and dalmi are happy and secure. He also helps dosan with the STATUS of being a brother which was forced upon him by complexed insecure DOSAN. What are the writers thinking ? Just bec he is second lead he cannot be the hero of the drama ? Everyone is a hero however small or big role they are playing. And this stereotype mind must change!!!!

I don't know what the writer's storyline is but I can see Dal Mi is more curious about Mr.Han bcz she asked questions only from him not Do San. Here, Mr. Han was talking about Do San but she asked about him.. although they share small time of screen together, but this small moments can't be ignored and is more impactful.

After watching and finishing the series, I honestly don’t remember any of Do Sans scene with or with out dal mi. Han ji definitely was the heart and soul of this series

Unfortunately I seeing no progress with characters rather now they making a twist to ruin Mr. Han's character. From the start they indicated the revenge plot was related with Sand Box and the director now all over the sudden you are showing its related to Mr. Han ? Really ? am I missing something here ? This is my first time I am more into second lead, the second lead makes more sense to me than main male lead. I left watching at ep13. Was so angry with the producer of this show. HJP was definitely a better choice. Their love story was way better. More mature. The other was soooo sooo childish and awkwardly irritating... not the actors fault but the direction of the scriptwriter was terrible. Storyline was good just that the love story was so wrong. Sorry had to rant. My first rant... really for any shows or movies..

I think it was totally unfair that they didnt end up together I mean Seon-ho was Suzy's first real love he had to give up so much just to make her happy, he gave his money, his time, his effort, and Nam Joo-hyuk basically took credit for all Seon-ho did for Suzy which I find so unfair. All the trouble Seon-ho had to go through just to make Suzy happy and watch her get stolen by a guy HE asked to make her happy is just crazy and in the end Suzy didnt even think about acknowledging all of it.😕

okay can we also talk about how selfless jipyeong is, even when he got caught, he defended and clears dosan when he denied that it was not for the money dosan did it for, it was because of dalmi. now here, he also explains that dosan choose to do all of those things for dalmi, rather than talk about himself first. jipyeong is being the bigger person. despite dosan is his rivalry, despite dosan belittled him and his letters previously, and him knowing he probably wont have the chance of getting dalmi, he still talks highly of dosan so dalmi don't get more upset. he always give dalmi everything without expecting anything in return. now I will excuse myself to cry in the corner.

Please Kdrama writers, pick a less charismatic and likeable character as second lead for your next dramas. You've got it wrong for Start Up.

Dalmi has a very high standard for man not only because the letter, but her father made it very high too. When she meets man with that quality, she just knows. Even from the very beginning. How she looks at mr. Han is very different.

This is way more, way, way way more heart fluttering than dosan-dalmi kissing scene. I don't know if I'm the only one but I can't wait for the kissing scene to end while watching. But this moment right here is just pure chemistry, at least for me. My dalmi-jipyeong ship may not be the endgame but I will treasure every moments of these beautiful characters especially our Jipyeongiii..
