This song/ video are fine.It’s always fascinated me the way they made the backdrop of some transparent material feel like a walk through an actual forest.
As I recall, Kim was not a fan of this song and this murky video reveals her discomfort with such a blatant dance track. I personally feel like this song was so far ahead of its time and would've been a huge hit for her in the latter part of the decade. One of my favorite songs ever!
Kim is dancing in the dark- I am dancing on the streets- for piece, freedom, no dictatorment, no brutality from police to peaceful demonstrands! No drag away from old people! No hitting in back or stomage! No treatment like criminals for not wearing masks! Dancing in a maskfashism dark!
Her album of 1983 had THE best sound of ANYTHING EVER & Most Criminally Underrated Album Ever. and Sparks' wonderful album of the same year-"In Outer Space" was treated just as badly. People!

i forgot how this song is good and this was one of first singles i bought. recently have opportunity to find first three albums and i was blown by dancing in the dark. this sounds like something from jackson's outstanding off the wall, namely don't stop till you get enough. however it's strange to look this video for such uplifting song.
The woman is absurd. Here she is-utterly beautiful and generally unassuming, but still assuming that her excellent material is so beneath every other artist's when even in the excellent 80s, she still ruled the lot. This criminally ignored smart, sensual and lovely song is also accompanied to a stylishly & cool video that is actually much better than several that followed down the line: the ridiculous storyboarding for a dynamic cool song like 'The Touch' springs to mind! Then there's the weird synchronised swimming in 'Schoolgirl', though 'The Touch' is the worst yet. This 'DITD' song & video has been criminally absent from all collections of hers forever cos how her and the world treated the song at large, an inanity hard to match with anyone else. But this vid is up there, and better than an obvious 'You Came' clip, not that vid have to be high-brow and amazing to work. It's the song that matters, yet here both work equally well. High 'time' everyone else (including her) woke up to it.

People just chose to be pointless idiots, you know how fickle and dump the 80s audiences and DJs and press are. Add to this RAK don't know what they're doing, they're bloody idiots with no idea of how it works. As soon as she releases an album, NO MORE SINGLES EVER CAME FROM IT!! Who DOES this, the singles supposed to carry on for the rest of the year. And curse Springsteen then if he didn't help, typical Americans, but I blame slagdonna appearing too, of course. And you're wrong, his one is NOT better than hers, and God knows why it's iconic, it certainly ain't in my house, few US acts ever are! Better-known? You're not helping, how can anything be well known if it's not allowed chart-room where it deserves, label push and anyway, US artists are always given much help, and back then, women weren't supported once they'd made it. 'Kids' is the one that shouldn't be iconic, most middling 80s thing she ever did! Even 'Boys' is way better. But what you don't know is that the writers of this song actually gave it to a man also to release AT THE SAME TIME & DATE, and RAK let it happen! Then do RAK carry on pushing singles off one of the greatest albums ever following this, no of course not! Idiots!

Her whole career speaks of unending sabotage, with barely anything released of any album, and all releases halting once album comes out. "Close" is the only one that avoided this treatment, a mystery remaining even today, and even THEN they still didn't pick the right one to end the album, and didn't go for a 6th; with other people, to say nothing of slagdonna, they get half an album off EVERY album, and slagdonna and Janet Jackson get about 8 or 10 off an album?! How is THIS fair, especially when they're so crap anyway?! I've been defending Kim long before any others bother listening, and it's nice to be acknowledged for it, as usually too many of these so-called fans love madogga anyway, which lends no support to what I say. But like you say, we don't need to worry. Kim has class, always has, as do her songs, all of them original, catchy, exciting, compelling, all made without the need for an angle to desperately get them sold, unlike that old whore from hell. But slagdonna is NOT high pitched. She's a squealing, bleating, barking twat that spends an entire plagiarised overlong tune in a desperate (of course) search for a key she'll never find cos she can't effing sing and never could! And her songs are shit and they're never 'hers' anyway. If it wasn't such a plague-bringing, sex-mad, attention-seeking, gold-digging desperado old slag, who'd be even interested, but you know, people always love an old whore that pretends it's otherwise. @@kyachdistent1301 A very precise assessment there mate. Commercialism has gradually overshadowed real talent in our world. Close was the only album not to be axed by the label overloards as the label MCA was dealing with bouts of poor policy implementation, low appeal amidst the fans and other problems. Maybe they thought Close was their chance to mould a better image in the public and with Kim Wilde who was well loved at that time they could hit their jackpot. Madonna is and will be the living image of the ugly side of commercialism. Her sex appeal was probably the only thing which propelled her above our beloved Kim. And possibly Madonna was more suitable to the American mainstream while Kim was seen as mere foreigner who made a break over the other side of the Atlantic. However those who still have a sense of appreciation towards true art would never stop loving Kim. She graced the music industry with a delicate balance between raw talent and the adequate use of her looks ( and not a full on naked course mastered by Madonna). Hope you have a nice day ahead. Very rare to find people with sound principles, character and a sense of exploring the finer things in life instead of bowing down to the whims of the mainstream opinion.
I like the video for expanding the song - which unofrotunately lacked flow - to actually visualizing meeting someone in the shadows, never mind the skin. I'm sure Madonna has watched this video too.
