She IS the best, with the best songs and the best all round voice. Of all the truly talented serious ones (slagdonnas, minogues and banaramas of this world don't apply and never could), she always soared far above the critically exalted ones. Pretenders were never album people and synthesisier challenged, Sade was never pop/rock so couldn't cover many bases, Alison Moyet's voice and bark wasn't truly suited to pop either and some songs she got wrong like the messy 'love resurrection' and the pointless 'love letters'. Annie Lennox did even worse. Some of the worst songs ever done in the 80s were from her often wretched pairing with Dave Stewart, and she over-enunciated far too much, and seemed to think every humdrum song they did-complete with its unimaginative, childish one line choruses on ever repeat-was always suited to the amateur dramatics society. She often ruined an okay sounding song by pushing it way too far as it ended. Embarrassing. Kim Wilde always got everything right musically, and certainly in the 80s, were the weakest point was only ever that bloody 'Kids' song everyone raves about, when everything else thrashed it out the park pretty much. And yes, thank God she's FINALLY seen fit to return and give us back what she should have been doing and making available for years!
@@kyachdistent1301 AGREE with almost everything you say here. However you know that I think KIA is a GREAT song. OK I know that you can't stand it but I think you should have it played to you on a loop 24/7 until you ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.
@@darrenplumpton8900 That comment's TOO ridiculous for any answer- 'Words Fell Down'! (see what I did there? And on? Listen, I feel that fucking thing's been on repeat ever since everyone acted like it's her best AND only song-'The Touch' it gives "is not incredible" and in my 'House Of Salome', I only ever 'Turn It On' when everything else she has ever done has played a 'Million Miles Away' more 'Time's that it. Not hard either. Thing is, constant refrain only chalks up its shortcomings-something else no OTHER Wilde song seems to have-even the slightly middle-agey out-of-character 90s stuff. It's the rest of the stupid world that needs to play all her OTHER songs/ALL albums/B-sides/singles etc. on a loop and understand how stupid THEY are not to love these songs. Thing is, I play all her stuff tonnes cos I 'Love' it-big difference is, I didn't need to FORCE myself to, it was instant and 'Addicted To You' (Kim) from the start. 'KIA' is not typical of her in that it is weakish-made all the more weaker by everyone's (including her own) weirdo obsession with it to the extent of the miles better multitiudes she made NON-STOP after it and to this day. Just saying. Even those 3 locked away songs FINALLY released on the deluxe albums 2 and 3 start of this year beat the hell out of it without trying. Like I knew they would. 'KIA' is notbad, it's hers. But it's not wonderful, it's just above average. A place virtually no other song she's ever done even goes anywhere near.
