Kid Ramos takes over for Kirk about halfway through the video. You can tell he learned a lot playing alongside Hollywood fats all those years with the James Harman band. Great licks!
Freaking great sound. Kim kills it with the harp. I like the way that as soon as Kim finishes the song, he wants Kid Ramos to join him. Thanks for posting.
Kim and Jimmy Vaughan brought the blues back to Texas with the fabulous thunderbirds in the 70's. Saw Jimmie's brother Stevie Ray play 2 nites at Reed's Red Derby just because he was his brother. Saw t birds at la semana back in the day.
Amen to that, Craig! People should check out Harmans livealbum from 85 "Strictly Live".. Listen to Fat and then put on one of Kids album or FTB album...
YOU. SEE I am from Houston well most of the great blues musician great BLACK. BLUES MAN recorded in the 1950 Duke peacock label own. DONE. ROBY. great blues singers such as Mr. BOBBY. BLUE. BLAND. Junior Parker. OV White and many others Bobby blue bland told me personally that. KIM. WILSON. IS. THE. BEST. BLUES singer that he ever heard and when he's dead and gone he would be the only one left to carry on the blues tradition and now that Bobby blue bland has passed all and mr. BB King it's all up to kill wilson so whenever you hear that Kim Wilson and the Fabulous Thunderbirds or in your town do yourself a favor go see the very best that ever was and ever will be there never will be another blues man with the diction of Kim Wilson the net King Cole style and the Bobby blue bland signature grammar there never be another blues singer that lays down the serious type of blues Tim Wilson does he is the very best a true American blues legend🎤🎶📀
what's nice is that music don't care what you look like it's all about if you can play or not... and everyone can play if they work at it. maybe there's a lesson there for the rest of the world.
No doubt about it Kim Wilson is Always On FIRE!!! From the first time we met in 1977 in my hometown Atlanta, GA T-Birds first Atlanta appearance, they had come the "Double Doors" in Charlotte N.C. leaving their only mic stand there!!! Well Bob Margolin played me a cassette of Kim a year before and it was great!!! So I was there to meet him when they loaded in at Rosa's Cantina to hear of their dilemma, telling Kim not to worry calling Clark Music where I brought my harps. Bob the manager was more that happy to help! Well saving the day cementing my friendship with Kim for all these decades though we've only seen each other a few times, but whenever we do it's always a great reunion!!! Oh I got to rock with the T-Birds when they came back that next year same place! Kim Wilson is the Baddest Kat on da Planet, he was that first night we met in 1977 and he's raised Blues Harmonica Playing and Bluesmanship through the freaking Stratosphere!!! I Love It and Proud to be His Friend!!! Hearing of his illness and getting the proper treatment He promises to return in 2019 Stronger and Better Than Ever!!! We'll All Be Waiting Kim!!! God's Mighty Blessings of Healing My "BluesHarpBrother"!!! Dr. Dixon Bh.D "The Blues Physician"

This is what you’d expect from harp-centric “ensemble” blues. Listen and you’ll hear everyone is blowing all the time. Any guitar who knows the genre is happy with the role of backing a harp all night. Unlike a generic blues, the guitar and piano creates the envelope, the harmonic shape for harp and vocals.
All good, but on the 2nd super quick one, I wish the drummer had dug into that snare with 2 hands & laid down the hard "train" shuffle. The drums were too tame for that feel. Just sayin.. It ain't a big knock, just an observation from an old drummer.. Good stuff all around!
