Thank you so much! I managed to follow all of your instructions and it turned out great! I have a different machine that isn’t as fancy as yours nor am I as knowledgeable so I did them one at a time. I figured no need to mess them all up at once!
thats ok. I've had couple issues with fabric too, but that was ok so far cuz the fabric actually needed was less than what is really used. Fortunately, I can always locate a workaround as long as the error isn't too egregious. I found something I had in my stash - its not a ribbon like what came with kit, but it will work. I just thought maybe there was an error in the book, but maybe it was in the kit making instead because I checked the Kimberbell Updates and nothing noted there for this project. I am having fun learning such new things. So happy I am following your tutorials!!! You are amazing!!
I've had my COC for a while now and had it all prepped to sew. I'm getting there, slowly but surely. When I load the file for the present there is not a placement line for the batting. The first stitch is the placement stitch for the ribbon. Is there another file I should have? Is there an update for any of the blocks that might have been incorrect? Also, the book doesn't instruct to use batting. Sorry, I'm confused. I just centered it then cut the batting when the machine was finished sewing the whole present. TIA, Cristin.
Hi Tmurray, if you watch the video and go step by step, you'll see my talk about the batting and the quilting, starting at about 7:20 in this video. The embroidery design does NOT include the quilting. As mentioned in the video, that is a separate design. They are sold separately on the Kimberbell website. The very first tutorial in each project series goes over in more detail about the quilting, where to get it, what we'll use and info on the sponsor for that project. I hope this helps. I did COC 2 years ago, so I don't recall all the details on each block at this point, but all the info is on the tutorial for each block. I'll always say, you need this size batting and then I talk about what quilting design I'll be using and that you can choose whatever quilting design that you want and it will need to be this specific size. All that info is in each tutorial and full details in the very first video of the series. I hope this helps. You'll do great. Just follow along step by step and I show it all in photos after the talking part too with added text on each photo slide.
Great demo....thank you! My fabric finally arrived, and I'm doing the quilt, in the order the blocks appear in the book. Time to do the presents now! Not sure why the mittens weren't together in the book...anyone know why?
Hey Cristin: I cut the ribbons 9" long as per page 15. I don't have enough. I am short one nine inch piece of ribbon. How were you able to get 12 pieces? I don't know if MGQS sent me the incorrect amount or if the book's instructions is incorrect with the sizing? Do you have any idea if it is the book? should I contact Kimberbell and ask about the sizing? I will go out to hobby lobby tomorrow to see if I can locate 1/8" wide ribbon. Other than that, I will be finished with the presents. 04SEP2022
