Kimi Djabaté is a gifted guitarist, percussionist and balafon player. On Djabaté's recently released album 'Dindin', the versatile musician from Guinea-Bissau continues the tradition of his griot heritage and sings compellingly about the complexities of life in modern Africa. Mixing traditional Afro-Portuguese rhythms with Afrobeat grooves, electric desert blues and references to Afro-Latin swing, Djabaté weaves a unique tapestry of smooth and intricate sounds, with intimate songs dedicated to family and friends. His themes are undeniably universal and are about love, communication and human connection.
Kimi Djabaté is een begenadigd gitarist, percussionist en balafonspeler. Op Djabaté's recent uitgebrachte album ‘Dindin’ zet de veelzijdige muzikant uit Guinee-Bissau de traditie van zijn griot-erfgoed voort en zingt hij meeslepend over de complexiteit van het leven in modern Afrika. Door traditionele Afro-Portugese ritmes te mengen met Afrobeat-grooves, elektrische woestijnblues en verwijzingen naar Afro-Latin swing, weeft Djabaté een uniek tapijt van soepele en ingewikkelde geluiden, met intieme liedjes opgedragen aan familie en vrienden.
