The OST in this movie is so good really made me feel melancholic and resonate with Taki and Mitsuha's feeling of longing for something but not knowing what it is.
Japanese anime staff are good at choosing songs that fit the story. Read the English translation of the songs, and you will appreciate the song selection.
The reason why they forgot entirely is probably because the memory of each other is the most important thing they must leave behind (as explained by grandma). Although everything is erased, only the emotion is safekept by the mood god - tsukuyomi based on Japanese folk lore. That's why they have been finding each other ever since~
One of my favorite movies of all time. ^_^ I regret not watching it at the theater. Every scene was so beautifully rendered and the music was great. These feature films do not cast regular voice actors but actual actors. The scene where she looks at her palm and sees his message hit me hard, and of course I loved the ending. I was afraid, because Japanese movies are not afraid to end in tragedies. Just for your info on some Japanese terms, “musubi” 結び means “tie,” which was a central theme in how these two were tied together by destiny. In Japanese belief, those fated to be together are tied by a red thread. The musubi was also represented by the braided cord that Mitsuha had to tie her hair and passed on to Taki when she went to Tokyo. Thread-like imagery were also shown by the umbilical cord as Taki experienced all of Mitsuha’s life. “Ano yo” あの世, which they translated as “next world,” is referring to the “other world” or “afterlife,” or perhaps even spiritual world. It’s basically, the other world where your soul goes when your physical body dies. The names of the Miyamizu girls are named after “leaves.” “Ha” means leaf 葉. Mitsuha 三葉 means “three leaves,” her younger sister is Yotsuha 四葉, meaning “four leaves,” their mom was Futaba 二葉 meaning “two leaves,” and their grandma is Hitoha 一葉, meaning “one leaf.”
Especially knowing the writer's style and what kind of stories he likes, I was expecting the characters' experience to just be a moment in time that managed to affect each other's lives and that being it. Didn't expect them to find each other.
I'm finding your video a bit after the fact, so I hope you already learned this along the way. The story of Your Name has layers, of course, but one of them is difficult for western audiences to catch onto. There's a decent wikipedia article, actually, if you go searching for the "red thread of fate". The idea is that lovers who are destined to meet each other are bound together by an invisible connection depicted as a red cord.
Most people recommend a silent voice with this movie but Weathering With You is also a great watch. The main characters of this movie make a cameo in it, too
Hi, In the movie, TAKI and MITSUHA reunite around April 2022, and I've been to that "staircase" in actual 2022. Unfortunately, I couldn't meet TAKI and MITSUHA lol, but I could feel the influence of this movie because there were many foreign tourists. thank you for nice reaction.
If I was given a chance to erase a part of my merory, then I would like to erase my memory of watching this film so that I can watch it again for the first time ❤️
I love the movie as well. It is just that i can't watch it over and over again. When i watched this film when it came out, i was looking for someone who can identify what i thought that yes it is very good but why does it feels like it is moving too fast at certain points...no, what i meant is i wished some points are longer instead of a montage. (On the crunchyroll page, said by the director of this film himself) Shinkai says "Two years was not enough," and says the film feels "incomplete" and "unbalanced." He adds, though, that "the plot was fine." (There are some comments that suggest that this might just be talking about the intricacies of the animation, and the reporter hyped it up to fit the narrative that yeah, he thinks that the film is incomplete) Regardless that is also kind of what i think about this film
If they had made body switching compilation around 30 minutes to develop the story and relationships properly, it would have made a significant difference I think.
Nice reaction too bad you slipped way too much 1. Knows taki will save the village, knows the village will be saved, didn't think he would probably only save Mitsuha 2. Already knows he will go back in time 3. Spoke alot but haven't had a guess that didn't happen in the movie, all are suspiciously correct guesses. No misses. At least the post review is legit because it's *a review.*
If you love the soundtrack for this movie, do a search here on RU-vid for "Your Name Orchestra Concert." There are a bunch of clips posted from a live concert by Radwimps, the band who wrote the songs for the OST, accompanied by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. They actually played the entire soundtrack of the movie from start to finish, live and in sync with the movie itself projected on a huge screen behind them. Awesome videos - so much so that I had to import the Japanese Blu-ray of the full concert!
