i just realized senjogahara's birthday is on July 7th. Tanabata Day. The Japanese festival of the stars. How fitting. Edit: Happy birthday hitagi :) thought i would come back here in 2021 2023: I still love this song never gets old man 2024: back again! New monogatari season soon...
People are like "This describes ep 12 so well" And I'm like "...no?" This song, this full version, is about a girl who couldn't confess her love before it was too late. It's not Senjougahara's story. It's Hanekawa's. The lyrics were put differently in the ending of Bake so that it fits Senjou's story better, but when you listen to the actual full song, it's different. Two ways of seeing this song depending on the version. Two stories in parallel. The two versions of this song, put together, don't describe ep 12. They describe Senjougahara's and Hanekawa's full stories in regards to their relationship with Araragi. And I love that.
Also this songs tells the story of senjougahara's feelings or thoughts towards her memories of visiting to see the stars with the stars with her family and how she never told or will be able to tell her mother her feelings.
I recently learned how to distinguish planets from stars and learned where specific stars are The first 3 stars I searched for where Daneb , Altair & Vega, the summer triangle Now I am reminded of this masterpiece of a show every time I look at the night sky
Senjougahara and Araragi are my favourite fictional couple ever to exist. Their relationship is so mature beyond their years and it isn't surprising that they stayed together in college. Senjougahara's dating style is very unusual, and just like Araragi says, it would push 99% of men away. And yet, just like he said, he turned out to be that 1 in 100 men, who was different. Their love is just so good, I genuinely hope I can have love like that.
After what they both went through, and how Arararagi helped everyone. He really did deserve the kind of love he got. They just get along so well. I just enjoyed it so much. Especially, the episode this song is played in. I have listened to this so many times.
"Araragi, I love you. Will you go out with me with marriage in mind? ":( After seeing Kizumonogatari and the confession on Second Season this song hurts :(
Bruh, I got manly tears on my face now, you can't just ask to go out to someone knowing you will be rejected so you can finally acept yourself. That scene was hit hard. :(
I think this is one of the saddest lovesongs ever written. Can't we all relate to it? The "I love you" that was never spoken, the chance missed and the path not taken mixed in with nostalgia for a time in our youth, long lost but never quite forgotten? It's that one moment in time that would have made a difference, but we only watched it pass in front of our eyes as we lacked the courage to take a chance and now we wander through our lives wondering... what could have been.
There was this guy that i once loved so dearly. He really likes the monogatari series and he had always told me to watch it but sadly that time, i didn't had the opportunity to do so. There was once a time that we went out to watch a fireworks show together and while waiting for the program, he randomly pointed out stars in the sky that night. I still remember it to this day and i didn't know how much that gesture meant to him. Fast forward to some months later, he already left me and then i decided to watch the series to remember him and that's when shit happened. I came across the episode in which senjougahara was pointing stars at the sky to araragi (it seemed awfully familiar to me). Before i knew it, i started balling my eyes out as the exchanges of dialogue came upon them. Damn so by the time that he did that, he was actually telling me how much he loved me. I didn't realize only till then and each time i listen to this song, i can't help but be reminded of him and his gentle smile. Anyway, thank you for the wonderful translation 💖🌸
1:58 if you didn't think this song could be any more romantic; in East Asian mythos Altair and Vega are a couple with Altair being a cowherd with their two children (the two smaller stars next to Altair) on earth and Vega a goddess on the other side of the Milky Way in Heaven; Altair is forever "chasing" Vega and every year the two lovers get to meet once when birds form a bridge across the Milky Way which is described as a river in these myths. Also I just thought the "triangle" with Deneb is hilarious to describe Hanekawa's story even though this is probably not intended.
I remember reading a Japanese folktale story back in 2010 and it sounds very familiar to this. There was a Japanese man that fell in love with a goddess however she lived in the skies and he lived on earth. So as a commitment to him loving her. I think he either climbed the tallest mountain or grew a tree or some plant that reached the heavens where he met with the goddess he loved. And she was joyful and happy that a simple mortal man did this for her so she fell in love. However her father did not approve of their relationship since he was a simple mortal person. So he separated them through a river. Only once I year I think it was he allowed the two to meet one another before they will have to wait another year. And soon they became two distinct stars in the skies and the river that separated them was the milky way So I looked it up and found the story to be called Tanabata I believe or how i found the story on the internet. And it is based on the stars Altair and Vega

As much as I love Hanekawa, Senjougahara is best girl, she faced her problems head on and solved it and her growth with araragi throughout the entire Monogatari franchise is so wholesome and heartwarming
This shit hits hard when you learn the English translation Jut think this song is sung by hanekawa to show her feelings fro Araragi Oh god it's fucking depressing now
It's so heartbreaking. Because it is about a girl who did not confess to her love untill it was too late. For Hanekawa. She did not confess untill neko shiro but by then it was too late. It ties in with hanekawa's opening. But these are similar stories to the series. But Hanekawa kept those feelings for araragi. But Hanekawa chose not to though and hid her feelings and problems clouding her judgement.
you just described my thoughts about this song, especially the ending of it, i can't help but think about the ending arc of PunPun and Aiko, it's amazing!
Just hearing "What should i do?" "Being beside you is nice" "but reality is Harsh" The first thing that comes to mind is PunPun and Aiko after _that_ has happened, and the rest of the song makes even more reference: "i didn't say, I couldn't say, I won't have another chance; that summer day, those sparkling stars, even now i remember, that laughing face, and that angry face, i really loved them, strange isn't? [...] The secret I only knew" "that night long ago, in a distant memory, you pointed and with an Innocent voice sai" dude. I just can't contain myself! The beginning of the song is PunPun realizing that he won't get another chance, and that it's just over! Forever! And then he starts to remember the good moments he spent, now missing them (Although his thoughts were focused on something else at the time) And when he says "the secret that only I knew" he might refer to Aiko's existence, who just went off, since he was the only one who still cared (remembered) her. Now, this ending is just chilling! He could be referring to any of those moments that happened! Both at school when they saw the Milky Way, the time when Aiko was going to be killed But she convinced PunPun not to continue and so they lay down to look at the starry sky; or at the very end of PunPun, where he lies down in the factory, but this time without Aiko! For all eternity alone. It hits different now
Another very powerful and lyric-meaning song by Supercell... I also really liked their Heart Realize for Noragami ending :) And that also without saying that Araragi and Yato share another thing ;)
It's 2020, and I will always come back to here to listen to this song. I'll always chuckle at the thought of this song being Araragi's love letter to Senjougahara. Love how Bake's starry night scene is very cheesy yet very warm and touching.
1:44 this literally describes what happened in Episode 12. I love the little details that the Anime shows. It is also shown exactly at that moment in which Hitagi shows him the stars and confesses her love to Koyomi
I've been trying to remember this song for at least 2 years now!!!!!!!!! I was able to remember it when the Summer Triangle was mentioned in an episode of The Day I Became a God. ahhhhhh I feel so satisfied right now.
Do ypu ever feel like a song is written specifically for you? well that's how i feel about this song. The lyrics and the music portray the way i felt so accurately is almost scary
I was somehow got very hooked to this song even though I didn't watch the anime. The I learned that this song was sang by Yanagi Nagi now I know the reason why
1:43 "There's Deneb, Altair, Vega.. You pointed out the Summer Triangle". These lyrics got me into taking a photo of our universe although I am using a phone, every time I hear the lyrics motivates me to keep going to be one of the astrophotographers. I LOVE MONOGATARI SERIES
funny thing how i met supercell listening to vocaloid so many years ago and now i find her again in bakemonogatari, funny thing how things end up in my life again
first time watching the series, the song didnt really stick to me but now that im rewatching it, the opinion has changed majorly and this song hits hard
The night sky yesterday had barely any stars, but as we both strolled through the dead of night; her walking in the middle of the road and me pushing her to the side walk over and over in case a car came, for me atleast, that night sky felt like it was raining stars.
Commented this because I love this song the most out of all the EDs in this series and that I haven't seen this in ages as well because I watched everything a few years back and didn't know there was another season/movie :(. Going to rewatch everything (in broadcasting order again tho) and finish one of my favourite animes ✨
