Mother’s Day is a chance to honor the women who gave us life, who love us, who leave us long voicemails and send us nonsensical texts. Jimmy loves these texts, so we went around the office and had people on our staff read some real texts from their moms.

All of my mom's texts start with my name. I reply "yes" and THEN she texts whatever it was she was gonna tell me. I've told her many times she can go right to the point, but she doesn't understand. It's like she is making sure it's really me she is about to text.

When my mother, Eileen, succumbed to dementia, I found this piece of an envelope where she had drafted a message, possibly for my birthday. "i came in here at 36.....it so you dont mean. The whole "Why do you have a phone when you never answer/call me..." text is painfully spot on 😂. I even lived with my mom while waiting for my apartment by the college, saw her pretty close to every day, and still with that phrase....but it's most prevalent form is normally on a voicemail (which all voicemails include her stating that it's my Mom, and the day and time before her statement). I do love her though 😂😂
