Kimokal debuts their music video to 'Lonely Child' on the 21st of February 2016 after their critically acclaimed album launch at the Institut Francais Indonesia. The music video was directed by artist and filmmaker Kinez Riza.
The video was shot over a twelve hour trek across Papandayan volcano with the entire band and crew traversing across one of Indonesia's impressionable landscapes.
'I thought the landscape at Papandayan fit into the overall theme of the song, there is a prevalent sense of beauty and joy in isolation,' says Kinez.
The shoot did not go without its drawbacks, first and foremost was carrying Kimo's keyboard up an unstable terrain. The group was assisted by porters from the Papandayan National Park, starting from the base crater to the edelweiss field covering an expanse of 80 hectares at the top of the volcanic range.
'At one point the entire party felt too exhausted to keep going,' says Kimo, 'but Kinez told us to not look forwards or backwards, look down at your feet and watch your steps, this was great advice that got us through the day.'
'The most majestic part of the whole landscape was seeing the mist collide with the sun as it went down in the edelweiss field,' says Kallula, 'It was otherworldly, we were challenged by the altitude going up, but as soon as we got there it felt similar to why we love making music in the first place.'
Amongst the crew were director of photography Endra Prastowo, drone operator Septian Rosadi and sound assistant Hadi Prayitno. It was edited by Edo Dunggio and assisted by Dennis Yonasa.
