The reason the reins broke in the first place was because he was balancing off of them, and then he grabbed the mane/neck because he couldn't balance off of the reins anymore 😂
@@OakWood.Equestrian yet he still stayed on. all in the end, if this happened to you going at around 40-45mph on horseback, what would be your reaction if the reins broke?
I mean yeah we do hold some kind of support in the reins when going this fast usually but it's possible and i often do let the reins go now and then to check myself that i don't balance on them. I'm trying to imagine myself in that situation hahah and i think that i would probably stay on but like in the video loose a bit of balance for a bit and lean more forwards 😅 but u never know.. i'm gonna try it next time to just let the reins go when gallopping outside hahah will be a fun test! @@sara.asbb12
@s.saddleseat first of all I wouldn't be balancing on the reins so they wouldn't break in the first but anyway. I would pull the other rein around for a one rein stop or do an emergency dismount.
I think the only reason they do that (at least in racing) is because with the stirrups how they are it’s hard to tell your horse to go. In this video the stirrups are normal so they can tell the horses to go a lot easier. It’s still not good that they whip them as much as they do in racing though.
@@Someone_is_watching_UWhips don't make them go faster though. Many studies have suggested that the PAIN might makes them go faster, bit the whip itself.
@@Sophia_Mse i know what a racing saddle is its just there for the jockeys to have stirrups. and its "supposed" to let the horse go faster. A properly fitted english saddle wont rub or damage when going fast? You can literally go full speed in a stubble field and it be fine (obviously depends on the ground conditions)

@@EllieHaysonTFPulling the reins doesn't slow horses down. It just inflicts pain. Abd there us no way of knowing if you're going to win until the last second.
Exact proof that the people are holding the horse back,so when people have super tight reins and whip their horse because they “aren’t going fast enough” they just need to shut up because if they don’t know that they are pulling the horse back to slow it flown then they shouldn’t have the horse. Jockey here we hold the horses back like that to stop them burning out too quick. If you let them go they will run blind and burn themselves out before the end of the Race . You need to to control the speed until you need them to go full at the end, thank you for reading.
This just proves that u dont need to pull hard on the reins to go fast ! Someting i always keep in the head as an equestrian : every horse can go fast but only a few can go slow .

My horse loves to go fast, but is also a western horse aswell as english, shes pretty green and can go fast and slow. She has to have an extended trot and then a jog and etc for other gaits. I think every horse can go slow. (this isn’t meant to be hate)
Every horse can go slow bc sometimes ppl use them to much Liek 19 hours per day riding like give them a break I only do 1 fun ride or hack per month and I only do jumps ever 2 weeks and every other 2 weeks I do western 😭😭
I guess I will be the paragraph person today. So this is Kincsem a national treasure of Hungary and she was one of the best race horses out there, she won all of her 54 races, and never had been defeated. This is a movie about her story, and this scene is mostly about her rider. He made a deal with the father of his love, so if he makes Kincsem loose, he will get the girl. Kincsem refused her rider, and won the race anyways, even with him dragging her down.
As a Hungarian I know this story very well and infact this horse wanted to win cause the jockey tried to pull her back, she won every race she ever went to.
This proves you don’t need to abuse the horse it’s all depending on how you treat the horse and on it’s natural speed I would give anything to help the horses that were abused and died.horses won’t listen to abuse they will buck and become angry they will listen to love and gentleness and they will show the respect back ima horse rider and I understand the horse won’t go but you don’t need abuse If you agree 👇
I had an OTTB and when they race, the horse grabs the bit, leans into it, and runs. The trick to getting them to stop the behavior is to just let go of pressure, im pretty sure the horse would have tripped 😂
@@Ozzys.Oats.Olives.And.Pasta. true but the OTTB I ride got taught to keep running. The thoroughbred breed is bred for running. They would run until they drop dead no matter if you’re trying to stop. Only a really well restarted or trained raced/in racing will actually stop without giving a fuss.

I'm guessing he was pulling on the reins hard enough for the horse to go slower so when they broke the friction or tugging stopped which made the horse go faster
My mom recently got hurt because a horse who’s reigns broke went crazy and rammed into a gate and he get hit her, the rider had no control over the horse and it’s odd the horse didn’t stop before the gate but he tried to jump it, she was knocked out cold for a little bit and 13 stitches above her right eyebrow…she’s doing okay now and she’s healing up fine. 👍👍👍

This video is proof that a horse does not need to be wiped like 100 times in order to go fast,if you just let the horse run with a lil more rein and not aggressively beating it up then it will usually go fast and even if it doesn’t win than at least you weren’t beating them.❤
And that’s most likely why normal reins aren’t used when racing. They have specific race reins, different from your standard reins or fancy reins (grips or handle pieces) you might have. Love seeing thoroughbreds move, you see the front half pulling and the back half pushing, interesting to watch.

This happened to me when I was on the feild galloping on my uncles horse and luckily she was a sweet heart noticed something was wrong, Steadied herself and slowly came back to a walk and I was completely fine thanks to her and my trainer who told me what to do in a situation like that.
Horse hair is very turf and strong so you are able to hang on to the hair, and the reins also work but if you pull the reins back that slows down the horse, so that's why they snapped.
