I'm in full agreement with you, but I don't get why both side label their opposing party "stupid" when both sides are nearly equal in stupidity in this divided country. This country where so called "republi/libertards" (yes I have seen and heard people say republitards) have the incapability of their ideas being wrong. Modern American politics are so disgusting and their followers, again, on both sides, so delusional. I do have to admit, most of these congressmen wouldn't be enjoyable to be around. In fact, I don't think very many people who's occupation is political would make a very good friend. I'll make an exception for Barrack Obama, while I disagree with the majority of his political views and doings, (and even think his presidency, of course along with Trump's, are the reason America is so divided) he seems like an outstanding guy and would likely make a great friend. What I'm trying to say is, I usually see political views as something that should not affect my stance on whether they are a good person or not, and I wish more people would that way. Lastly, one of my greatest pet peeves is people who go on political rants about the terribleness of the party they don't belong to. I have to single out two specific people, Sean Hannity of Fox News's rants of the "Liberal Agenda", and Megan Amram 's extreme tweets about the president (Many people who I inspire follow her for some reason). But even both of them, who dare I call extremists, occasionally have something good to say, take Megan Amram's stance on climate change. Of course, Sasha's genius use of satire, is a rare exception.
