USB-C is the only thing missing from my Oasis. It's kind of sad that nobody's come up with something significantly better in the 5 or 6 years since that came out.

My paperwhite started glitching after a year of use. Now I switched again to my 2010 kindle. At least I don’t have to restart my device every time the touchscreen doesn’t work properly. The only thing I miss is background light and sync with my phone app.

My husband has a Paperwhite and kids have Kindle basics. I myself had a Kindle Paperwhite for about 10 days before I sent it back and switched it for a Kobo Clara BW. I *immediately* clicked with the Kobo UI, much like love at first sight LOL... something the Kindle never did for me. I now own 2 Kobos, both are from the Clara model except one is in B&W and one in color. For me, this is everything I will ever need. Sure, I felt the Paperwhite was really nice, but I guess the Kobo's UI (and a few other things) really made it worth sending back so I could switch over. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Yeah the Kindle UI isn't great is it. Way too much prominence to the store for sure. I'd like to try a Kobo, maybe if the channel ever makes decent enough money I'll pick one up!

@@SamHarrison2099 Clara BW is a god tier device. Absolutely love Kobo Clara BW. Easily the crispest, sharpest ereader screen in the market. Kobo device with Koreader software is a reader's heaven. You will be able to nail down the customisation for your reading preferences to a decimal.

I also returned my paperwhite and settled on Kobo Clara BW. That screen is a sight to behold. Paperwhite felt like reading on a tablet and felt fuzzier and tiring to my astigmatic eyes.

How interesting. I just returned the Boox Go Color 7. I didn’t like it compared to the Kindle Paperwhite and Scribe.

I think if you're a bit of a tech nerd like me and you're willing to put up with some very minor stuff then the much more versatile Boox is a no-brainer.

Interesting, I made the exact same move! There is one reason why I still use my Kindle PW sometimes and that is when I am on family trip or holiday. You can throw it around, read it next to a swimming pool (or in) or on the beach without I have to worry. I am not comfortable doing that with the Boox.

I like the Kindle, but I agree about the e-book getting dirty. I especially don't like its back, which is covered with a layer of some kind of rubber. Over time, this layer became very sticky, as if it had been doused with something sweet. It was unpleasant to hold in my hands. I cleaned it as best I could and sold it. Yesterday I ordered a new model of Kindly Paperwhite this year, a case for it and an e-book Kobo Clara BW to try out. If Kobo likes it, I'll keep it to read on the way to work Colored e-books are probably a good thing, but when reading regular books, I don't need this function.

I've heard great stuff about Kobo. I like to keep easy access to my Kindle library without having to do Calibre stuff, and access to indie books that are Kindle exclusive.

Is the back of the new Paperwhite (the one that came out a couple days ago) not rubbery like the previous one ? I’m considering getting it and I’ll probably get a case for it but I fear the kindle + case might start to get heavy.

I bought a silicone gel case for mine as i didnt like the sticky back either,i prefer a plastic back

Thank you. Why not do a video on your internet book sources ?
@SamHarrison2099

My internet book sources are the same as everyone's - primarily the Kindle store, extremely infrequently I get early review copies or am sent a copy by the author. I've bought books from Humble Bundle too.

I dont like that the book covers look very washed out and difficult to see,the contrast is terrible in the library,yet when i look at yours they look very clear with lots of black contrast maybe mine is faulty

Yeah I'd seen all the predictions it would be today last week, so I edited and published this video before it was completely irrelevant! I actually filmed it in August, but didn't want to post tons of kindle reviews in a short period.

I've been considering a Boox Go color 7 for a while now. After the new kindles announcement, which is underwhelming, I think I'll pull the trigger.

The price is absurd for the kindle colorsoft, plus the contrast is awful. Lots of testers have been posting about it, even if your plan is just to read text on your "color kindle", they have shown that the device lacks of contrast for text compared to the regular version of other kindles.
@terriersforever23

@@joeg9003I don’t think any of the color e-readers are particularly great at 150 ppi you may as well carry on on using the normal kindle or kobo least it’s 300 ppi.
