Thanks for watching :) this Little "Table Log Splitter" is actually a present for my grandmother. She don't wanted to use a Axe anymore thats why she is allways asking for some small pieces of firewood. Finally it is possible for her to cut it by her own.
The blade is a old file and the so the handle. With the strange design is it possible to split wood from 8cm till 26cm.
This is not a step by step instruction Video how to build a log Splitter.
Hope you get inspired.

That's a wonderful solution for elderly or disabled people. I know that a hatchet is probably a better solution for able-bodied people, but for those with issues relating to coordination or joint pain, this would be far easier and safer.

Very cool. If Grandma were to have the grandkids around, I'd suggest you might design a locking mechanism of some sort. Maybe one that would cover the blade when not in use, like in the garage. Kids might just root through the stuff, and an exposed and fixed blade isn't something they'd be on the lookout for... But wonderful invention!
@av8orCH-47
@av8orCH-47 2 года назад
I'd be sure to lock all the kitchen cabnets with anything sharp, too. And make sure the kids are wrapped up tight with bubble wrap before they leave the house...and make sure they have their helmets on to walk down the street. Or.....just tell your kids not to touch stuff. But you do you.

Does it work on thicker bits - so starting with a chunk of 2*4 or similar and gradually cutting that down to kindling size? All the vids I can find of this design show it working well cutting thin bits of plank, but usually I'm starting with timber that's bigger, and it's not clear if this would be up to the job. Also, the example where the axe didn't work was when it came up against a knot. Does this work with timber with knots in?
