Man if I saw one of these in a clothing store I would be so happy. Opposed to having to dig through the thousands of mismatched outfits on the racks, I could simply virtually try on the things I really like, get a feel of what is available and get the representative to get me what I want to try on.
You'd still have to try the clothes on, though. This system leaves a lot of scope for fraudulent representation. Tweak the appearance of the shopper here and there and she'd look good in anything. So you'd need to make sure that the stuff you're buying really fits as well as shown.
KyriaNunNuit Perhaps, but it does save a lot of time having to dig through the clothing on your own, carry it to the dressing room etc. Why not use the available technology, see how things will look on you and afterwards select what you love the most. Ofc you still have to try it on, it just saves the hassle of having to dig through racks of clothing to find what you like best. Basically you pick what you want to try on without running all over the department store, and the representative gets what you want.
agrowingpain Yes, that would be a great time-saver and you could even get this first phase sorted long-distance. Personally, I can't wait for this tech to be readily available in all clothing stores.
@@Alexander_Byrne the old fashioned way is a good workout there's too much technology, all the time taken to improve the shopping experience, changes it into a benefitial marketing tool for the consumer to spend even more, it's of no value !
I thought about this idea and I almost started the first steps to patent it then I saw this video and damn it i was so sad to see it already exists and so happy in the same time that I thought about it without knowing it's already exists but hey i will keep thinking about new things 🙂
Still need some serious software guys to build this type of stuff, and I think a lot of people would be leery right now because the NSA (and all 'law' enforcement) can snoop, take pictures then too, and would then be watching everyone in the store. So, thanks again NSA for ruining something that could have been cool. Otherwise I think the technology is fantastic, and some day somehow we'll get past the idiots that are trying to own us and we'll be able to enjoy what technology has to offer.
it's hard to know who came with the idea first, because while Virror was in it's very early stages, there were also other people toying around with that idea at that time (there ware two blog called Kinect Hacks about that kind of stuff), but they were mostly incomplete concepts, I think we're one of the few who have a complete solution now, the only competitors I'm aware of are face cake and fitnect.
Cool idea, it's a big trend these days to have such technologies. BUT you don't really get the feel of wearing the specific items, how the fabric feels against your skin, how it really fits your body shape. In the end, it's a tool to keep all this lost generations waste more time in the store, while good salespersons lose their jobs.
can the virtual clothes follow the body size of the user? Like if person with bigger/smaller body will also have a bigger/smaller clothes too following the user's body?
it should becoz it works via AI where a laser is projected onto you and then fed into the machine learning algorithm which then tailor the outfit according to your body.
Hello, we're a boutique from Canada and very interested to purchase one for our store. How could we acquire all this? Is this some sort of programming or it comes from the console itself? Please let us know. Thank you.
Nothing will be able to replace trying clothes on for real. The way clothes FIT and how they feel cannot be replicated by a visual. Our skin is our largest sensory organ, we rely on it much more than our eyes. We'll see how long it lasts when everyone starts bringing their clothes back after finally getting the try them on for real once they get home - who wants to make the drive back to the store when you can just try them on for real in the first place. Nice try though, it LOOKS cool, but i don't think it will feel nice.
Ethan McCaslin Ofcourse it won't replace the on-site shopping where you can fill the clothes, but is time saving if you are happy onky ny how it looks.
hi guys, am really interested as to how I can use a kinect for windows in this kind of scenario, would someone kindly explain to me how I can configure it with my PC and it gives me this kind of result?
yes it does and you can get the unity template if you have kinect v1 for windows and some 3D dresses design skills and programming, codecanyon.net/item/virtual-fitting-room-ar-unity3d-app-project/22853717
You can pre-order the v2 sensor here www.microsoft.com/en-us/kinectforwindows/Purchase/developer-sku.aspx Additionally, the SDK 2.0 public beta is being released on Tuesday (7/15/14) and you will be able to download it for free on our site www.kinectforwindows.com
