Thank you! I wanted to see the difference as I will be buying a Kinect to use with my Mac and Reconstuctme for a 3D printing class I teach. Looks like its worth getting the v2.
This technology should have never been used as a controller for video games. It is better for other things like motion capture, recording animations and everything that isn't awkwardly flailing your arms around to control a video game
The data you are displaying is rendered incorrectly. The image from kinnect 1 has overflow problem (zebra like patterns) and the one from Kinnect 2 doesn't even look like a depth map at all. There's no color map displayed in the case of color coded depth map which also makes the data impossible to read properly.
Just thinking how this compares to what we see in some augmented reality tech and phones with the LiDAR/dot projector devices. Is that in Kinect v2 if not wonder how it would be with that technology included. Would be cool to see it included in the new Xbox with a V3

This was available in 2014, you can still find them for sale online but they are getting scarce. You will also have to get the pc adapter kit. The software development kit is free from Microsoft.
@@doverpara-tech4090 thank you! I never even saw them out there! Any newer ones in the works anywhere? Also, I have most of the parts to build another SLS- if I use the newer Xbox 1 camera, will this improve anything? Or does this too need an adapter?
@@NavyDocHM3 Microsoft has scrapped the Kinect development, so there will be no new ones. They do however make Kinect azure, a bit more expensive and I am not sure how you can get it to work with a tablet, that is above my paygrade. The Kinect V1 uses USB 1, and Kinect V2 (Kinect one) uses USB 2, so your tablet has to have one. You can see in the video above the quality differences between the two. here is a video link for Azure, but for the money, I would try to find a Kinect V2 if you have a USB2. The software algorithm is far superior. By the way, you will need a Kinect V2 adapter as well. Hello friend, I saw you could use and configure kinect in your computer. I installed the program SDK 2.0 on windows 10, but the camera kinect 2.0 (the one for xbox) is no recognized in device manager because the diagnosis program of SDK reported that the PORT USB 3.0 didn't recognize the camera. (I added a pci card USB 3.0 with renesas chip 72020) but the camera didn't turn on the lights or the fan. What would be the problem? Can you help me to fix it? Thanks a lot for your advices.
Hello, first did you install the device drivers as well as the SDK? I know there are issues with some USB controllers. Bom dia! Tudo bom? Eu comprei um Kinect V2 e estou tomado uma sura para ligar ele ao Windows 10 mesmo tendo a fonte original, eu consegui colocar ele para funcionar com muito custo e depois que o PC reiniciou ele parou de funcionar no Scanner 3D e na parte de desbloquear o PC via reconhecimento facial não funciona, nem é reconhecido e segui uns tutoriais de 2015 e não deu certo. Eu estava lendo e está escrito que o Kinect com esta fonte e adaptador ele não faz reconhecimento facial, eu vi uns vídeos no youtube de 2015 que o pessoal ligou o kinect 2.0 no windows 10 com o adaptador e aceitava fazer o desbloqueio com o reconhecimento facial, agora fiquei na duvida porque comprei um kit o PC reconhece o Kinect mas não faz a "Update Configuration Definitions" e o "USB Controller" que fica com uma exclamação amarela, com esta fonte 3.0 ele iria funcionar e acabar com esta exclamação amarela e mudar para o "V" em verde? Você saberia como ligar e configurar de maneira certa no Windows 10 e onde baixar os software já que a Microsoft tirou as paginas do ar e fica aparecendo um Helicóptero de cabeça para baixo e com o código 404, então estou tendo estas dificuldades, você saberia me ajudar ou dar uma luz?
