What are your thoughts of this trombone?
@spencerfreed6947

Love it!! Awesome playing!Really enjoyed the history lesson too man!! I thought I knew Kings history. I own a '67 2B Liberty and it does have 'Liberty' on the bell btw but I think some later 60's 2B dropped it. Sent mine off to BAC and had it completed restored and customized but I did keep the hand engraving on the bell. It plays and looks amazing! I love the sound of Kings! The dual bore slide makes the horn easier to play and more responsive imo. I currently play with an old Schilke 42 mouthpiece but I'm interested in trying out some new ones. Have you ever tried a JC Custom mouthpieces?? Thanks for all your hard work and awesome content!!

You sound beautiful as usual! The King 2B has a 'sound' and feel, and it's working for you for sure. Dumbest thing I ever did was sell a '50's vintage HN White 2B Liberty about 25 years ago.....but!...I just picked up a late '50's 2B SilverSonic Sterling bell in great shape!!!! After a few days, I'm in love all over again and excited about the feel and sound for me of the King. They are special horns if they suit you as a player. Keep up the great work as usual, and thanks for all your efforts in the trombone/music world!

Oh you sound amazing on this horn above all. As a bass trombonist who loves Kings, I especially appreciated the easy, sharp attacks and full sound in the lower register. Super responsive. I wonder if indeed this has become a principal player for you. Thank you for all you do!

I also have a beautiful King Liberty 2B that my parents bought for me (used) in 1966 when I was in high school. It came with the original King M21 mouthpiece, and a black faux crocodile case. I love the response of this horn even though I'm still such an amateur. I had it reconditioned in 2004, and still love the juxtaposition of the silver slide and brass bell. I do have to say I've changed from the King M21 mouthpiece to a Yamaha 46B which I have become more comfortable with. I've loved your videos over the years, Paul - all of 'em !!!

That’s a dazzling horn for sure. I happen to have the Jiggs as my main Axe (7 years nearly) and though I haven’t played a liberty I can say definitely check it out, it’s light as a feather. The uppers are great, slotting is sometimes tricky bc of how responsive it is, but I love it and it’s easy to get used to. Low range is great, I use a larger Giddings mouthpiece in it, the Harry Watters model.

Hi, I am interesting in buy an old king Tempo 2b, but I have a doubt. Do you tink the horn may be affected because it was re-niquel plated? Personaly I prefer the horns with it's original niquel no matter if it doesn't look good aesthetically, but I have heard people saying the Re-niquel process affect the sound. Thanks, and sorry my english is not good

You sound great on this trombone. I imagine that it took a few minutes to adjust to the horn’s unique characteristics? Great lead horn. I prefer how you sounded on the 3B - a fuller, darker sound, but very versatile. I mentioned a comparison to an Urbie Green model Martin on the 3B demo.

I played on a dual bore 2b light weight before it was called a Jiggs Whigham model back in 1980. bought a new 2b in .491 bore. Crazy as it sounds I found a Conn Pan American from 1952 that plays better than my King. I have 5 others of that model and they are all dogs. Just shows, every horn is different. I have the new 3B Silver sonic and it is a great horn for concert band.

@PaulTheTrombonist

Great question , I’d go somewhere you can try them all and see which one resonates with you most. A lot of players really like the HN White era (pre 1965) but I’ve heard the other ones are good too. Every person and instrument is totally unique. I’ve actually never played a silver sonic yet. I hope to get one here on the show so I can compare for you.
