many thanks for these 3 tributes. can't believe it's 12 years since i saw this programme. i was a regular at leeds in the 60's and 70's. terrific memories. RIP Billy.
Wait a minute. Hasn't know one clicked on to what Paul Reaney just said!! He left his son with Billy and then came back home with no underpants 😂 Wonder what little Billy got up too 😂
what a smashing wee player he scored a belter against us in the european cup semi final we still won the tie though and this is a great tribute. from a celtic fan
I had the pleasure of meeting Billy when i was 7 yrs old at my old school.. it was a fund raising event and Billy was brilliant with us..true gent and excellent footballer..R.I.P Billy, never forgotton
Only saw wee Billy play a few times for Leeds but saw him many times in the dark blue of Scotland. Scotland has produced many great players, Dalglish, Law, Jimmy Johnston, Bobby Collins to name a few, but none played with the heart, quality, skill and passion that Billy had by the shed full. I've never heard a bad word about him at Hampden. Thanks for the memories.RIP Wee Man
Scotland had a conveyor belt of talent over decades- not forgetting Mackay, Baxter, McGrain, Gray, and old timers like Gallacher-, a shame it has almost dried up. Many don't know Scotland dominated the early years of international matches
And there is the giant gaping chasm between players from that era, and the players of today, "He was a great man off the pitch." Today's divas are aresholes, that just happen to be able to kick a ball about. So they should for £250,000 a week, and to think Charlton was on £25 a week.
Clough was nothing without Taylor and not a single club in the top league were interested in signing him as a player. He was a sad man who thought far too much of himself. When you listen to ALL the other managers and players of his generation to a man they all disagree with Clough. Just like Clough you try to make what they say suit your viewpoint. what they actually have said if the other side starts to kick us then we would kick back otherwise we just played football. Notice that IF the other side started the kicking.
yes i would say it as a Leeds fan of 46 years The 1974 Leeds team was the best club team England ever produced Rest in peace Billy and all your team mates who have recently re joined you
I would say that Leeds team which was basically the same for the 10 seasons Revie managed them in the first division was the best English club side in my 50 years watching football. Had the club had a decent keeper then they would probably have won another 4 or 5 trophies
