I noticed no one had properly synced the infamous Hyde Park 8mm film, so I took it upon myself to sync this very short, tantalizing footage to the audience recording. I used the unedited VHS copy as a base and spliced in the HD official snippets when possible.
This footage originates from Greg Lake's archive and I have heard rumors that it was possibly his parents that filmed it in the crowd, giving a possible explanation of where he acquired it. The location of the reel itself nowadays is unknown, but it can be assumed it's in DGM's archive since Greg implied the reel was given to Robert for release.
Fortunately, a VHS copy of the entire unedited 8mm circulated recently, allowing me to get my hands on the unedited Crim footage and sync it as accurately as possible. The whole 8mm is actually two reels covering all the event's acts and preshow. Unfortunately, only less than a minute of it is actually of King Crimson. Here is a link to the full film, which is silent. The description contains a much more informative overview of the film's background, including things I didn't cover here, so be sure to check it out: • Hyde Park 1969 silent ...
It is still unknown if Granada TV filmed any of the acts in color 16mm film other than the Rolling Stones' performance. Photos of King Crimson performing show operators manning at least one of the professional cameras right in front of the stage, but still nothing has turned up. The possible outcomes are either the show was filmed entirely, only a few clips were done to test the cameras or be used as stock footage, or maybe even the camera operators weren't filming yet and were just messing with the equipment before actual use. Fripp has claimed that they didn't film the event, but with the Chesterfield film popping out of nowhere, they could have just not gone through all the necessary means to contact this third party and see if they have it. Granada didn't have nearly as destructive of a policy as the BBC's infamous one at the time, but they didn't keep everything, so even if it was confirmed to be filmed, it would still be a question if it even exists anymore.

Hello. Thank you very much for this work on proper synchronization with the sound source. I also read with great interest the background story and history of this 8mm film in the description. I look forward to more KC releases in the near future. In particular, I'm very interested in the following four. I would like to thank you for your work on this films, Montreal 73 8mm Sync Central Park 73 16mm Edit Montreal 74 Documentary Footage Sync (this one's a big maybe) Central Park 74 8mm Sync I can't even imagine what the Montreal 74 Documentary Footage Sync will look like, but I'm excited about it. It would be appreciated it if you could tell me in private. Thank you in advance.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm glad someone else enjoyed this film being properly synced. Seeing Greg's bass playing before the verses line up was very satisfying to watch as I made it. The Montreal 74 Doc footage is the silent 1974 footage that's been floating around. Unfortunately, there is no recording of the show, the film is out of order, and there are some shots overlayed with others, so it's definitely the most difficult project I have on the docket right now. I hope I can eventually get it to a satisfactory state for upload since it seems no one else has ever attempted a sync of that footage.

Thanks for the replies! I, for my part, am glad that someone was able to properly restore and sync these very rare King Crimson videos. As for the Montreal 74 Doc footage, I checked the internet for silent footage from 1974. Yes, there is no recording of the show, and the film is out of order, which must have been very difficult to work with. However, I wish you success in completing the project you have on your hands. I would like to see this video synchronized as soon as possible. I eagerly await the final upload in a satisfactory state.
