Thanks for the question! The corkies bob around in the current, the weight holds them from drifting. Last year the water was low and slow, 1 oz. was almost too much. This year the water was high and the current was stronger and 2 oz. was almost not enough. Also, you have to adjust the length of your leader depending on the current, too short and the corkies won't swing around in the current a whole lot or be forced right to the bottom. You just have to experiment with the length. Ideally you want to have your corkies bobbing around 6 to 12 inches off the bottom. Hope this clears things up a bit.
