Man, from watching him when he was zoo kid (a child) to king krule (an adult, a father) has been an amazing journey to watch unfold before my very eyes. I can't thank you guys enough for all the music you put out and to all those people you help heal with your music. Much love from Upstate New York!
There is nothing wrong with expressing your emotions as a man, cry when you need to cry, smile when you want to smile, do what you want, be what you want to be. You can do this!
listen to A New Place 2 Drown & his older stuff when he was in Sub Luna City, similar vibes, I'm glad every once in a while we still get to see this side of Archys prod. chops
This is honestly one of the most surprising and satisfying musical collaborations I've ever experienced. Both of them have made me cry MANY times in the past, so hearing them come together like this made me sob within seconds of hearing it. Maybe it sounds dramatic, but I am so very grateful for everything that led to the creation of this song, and everything that led me to appreciate this as much as I do now. It feels like divine alignment. Much love to everyone reading this 🖤
I've gotta say, on first listen of this album I felt underwhelmed with what I was hearing, and I thought that this would be the first King Krule album that I didn't care for. This was probably because the music was so subtle in it's beauty that I couldn't immediately appreciate the smaller details which combine together to create such a fantastic composition. It really grew on me as I listened more and now it feels like I'm swimming in the depths of an immense soundscape chock full of emotion and flowing with creativity.
Definitely a grower, felt the same initially but I quickly got immersed in all of the details and subtle changes. It's also one of the albums that I generally listen from start to finish because all the tracks complement each other so well.
holy shit, Im glad Im not the only one who feels like you. I was really unimpressed at first, but after a couple more replays, I grew to love it so much
This album grown on me so much. Heard it for the first time on a packed train in London on a 28 degree day in May and it really just passed me by. But the second and third listen in my flat actually just put in a trance. Unreal piece of art
I think this may be my favorite song of KK, what a trip. The collab we didn't know we needed. Reminds of Tirzah and Mica Levi's production, and they're god tier
I stare in awe, her eyes as dim as the moonlight which cast a lonely shadow over still water. The night water which consumes my heart. If I sink don't save me, as I want your love to be everlasting.
I had 2 friends who I really trusted and valued deeply (named June and August.) They were siblings. Her and our other best friend, Andy, became very close, spending days together, but she never wanted to be in a relationship with him, despite him being respectfully forward and her breaking down and crying when he told her how he felt. We noticed her trying to get romantic attention from many, many different people. At the same time, she broke boundaries between her and Andy many times, trying to force herself on him. We eventually came to find out that she was sexually assaulted earlier. As much as I love her and understand why she is the way she is, I can’t be friends with her, knowing how she treated my best friend Andy. Andy and I still talk about her. We worry for her. Unfortunately August is a very difficult person to contact, and the only way to get to him is through her. So, we will effectively never be friends with him again. June puts herself in dangerous situations, dating manipulative, destructive people and going to parties by herself, getting drunk there. All that self hatred and rage is just too big of a burden for one girl. If there’s a god, I hope they give her peace in this lifetime. I dedicate this song to her.
Take, take, take, take Take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take... Take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take Take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take, take... Take, take, take, take... Water falling from my fingers (take, take, take, take...) You stare in awe Call me Seagirl Painter, he is quite a thinker Let him paint me, his Seagirl Her underwater ecstasy You could easily be the death of me I swim through (take, take, take, take...) And if I start sinking, I'm probably overthinking Ooh-ooh, he comes to me Ooh-ooh, stuck on his knees (take, take, take, take...) Ooh-ooh, asking for better days Don't turn me into wine Something to pass the time I know that when we're done (take, take, take, take...) That's when I'll fall in love (take, take, take, take...) Mmm... Mmm... Mmm... Mmm... (take, take, take, take...) Take, take, take, take...
This song feels like waking up anywhere besides your bed in the morning after a long night of substance abuse. But somehow everything ended up fine, probably for the last time.
