That's cuz basketball players are the type of people that would have been famous before the internet. In ancient times being larger than everyone around you was what made you famous. Probably more than the same they can have today because there were no real concepts that would prevent you from doing whatever the heck you felt like
that is as much an overstatement as if new yorkers would regularly see some stars every day. i have been to monaco and most people might be rich, but there is not many famous people walking on the street at all.

there is only very few sports stars that will continue to be famous after quitting the game. lebron will be one of them, but the hype around him will get less and less, when he does not play. he could also wear camouflage and be hard to notice.
Is being rich and famous worth giving up your peace and privacy? I think the best outcome for anyone is to be well off enough to live comfortably, but not rich enough to owe tons of taxes. F the fame all together….

lebron probably laughs about your concerns when he sits in his 20 million house behind walls enjoying his privacy with his family and having his chef cook him some delicious dinner right now. he knows everytime he is out on the street he will be in the spotlight, it does not bother him one bit. he is used to being the center of attention since he was a teenager. he can choose to go undercover by jumping in a darkened bus and drive to some fancy club or restaurant where most people will have to leave him alone. he can rent houses where nobody but his closest entourage can enter. it is not like he is out in the public all the time. he has people buying stuff for him. he just felt like walking a bit outside and certainly the hundred or so people were not crazy many people compared to the fans before big games.

I was in a NYC restaurant when he sat a couple tables away from us 12-13 years ago. Aside from the sports heads, he came and went relatively unbothered. This is a whole other level now. It must drive him nuts sometimes. Only a handful of people in history have had to contend with that level of recognition. When celebrities complain that they miss the anonymity, this is why.
This is why I rather be filthy rich than rich and famous. Some famous people crave for it. I just cant imagine just wanting to get a cup of coffee in public but you cant
