Trembling shakes the earth and quakes Bonds fetter and burst A shuddering World tree and the absence of light Decaying roots and waters that loses its glory Skies split asunder. None stand above! Swallowed = the golden sun and the moon devoured Soil stained and the sky poisoned Wolf run free and the Serpent rises from slumber Scorched and burned the crust of the earth Hearts of stone On Vigrids plain A hallowed land Hark! Hear! The resounding horn Carry us home When we fall On Vigrids plain Heimdall! Blow the Giallarhorn As the stars now tumble from the heavens and the Watcher sound the horn at last All will sink beneath the sea Seen in the fog the ship of dead mens nails Bring forces of Chaos All ablaze colliding. The nine worlds burn! Hearts of stone On Vigrids plain A hallowed land Hark! Hear! The resounding horn Carry us home When we fall On Vigrids plain Heimdall! Blow the Giallarhorn Hearts of stone On Vigrids plain A hallowed land Hark! Hear! The resounding horn Carry us home When we fall On Vigrids plain Heimdall! Blow the Giallarhorn
'...to North' is a spectacular album but this song is especially wonderful. The concept, the lyrics, the horn in the intro, the ominous female singing towards the end, and of course the riffs/beats, all amazing.
this band takes metal back to the fundamentals. they arnt flashy or putting themselves on the map like most bands try. if they keep doing what they do they will make it to the top due to the fans, not some stupid promotions.
hmm, first of all, Amon Amarth are a great band, and so are King Of Asgard, but the two bands doesn't really sound the same, so i don't see the idea of comparing them. These guys have alot more darker/colder feel over them, and makes use of more black-ish elements in their songs
Amon Amarth, King of Asgard, Tyr, Korripiklaani, Eluvietie, Turisas, and Ensiferum should do a World Tour called "The Great Heathen Army". I would drive a thousand miles to see that.
haha, the intro riff: Look Down - Les Miserables. Sorry to be the nerd that points it out, but it’s the same other than the 4th bar =P. still a kickass song
If we're ignoring the fact that the great heathen army was vikings only, we should definitely add Finntroll to the list, mythical troll that killed missionaries...

they do use them sometimes, though. regardless, both are varied genres. melodeath is more than just og, belakor and insomnium. and metalcore is more than just trivium or sonic syndicate. theres similarities between them, so sometimes they can sound similar, but eluveitie definitely fit more into melodeath. (which is what theyre listed as on wiki, btw) ive never heard anyone else call them metalcore.
Listen to enough metal and you will be able to hear the differences between a band that is actually viking metal, and a band that just sings about vikings. I too questioned the legitimacy of viking metal as a genre at one point, but it is indeed its own musical style. For instance, Bathory, early Enslaved, Einherjer. Its a mid-paced melodic black metal type thing. Also separate from pagan metal, which I believe also has its own distinct style
