It's great to see ladies doing what was originally looked on as men's jobs, especially in the military. If they can do the job, good on them. They are no doubt just as good as the men, some even better I presume to add, and if they have gone through all that training and passed, then why shouldn't they be there?

In a time of advance knowledge and understanding, why are we still using metal bits in horses’ mouths?? The native Americans used leather bits or nothing. Metal bits destroy horses teeth and gums, causes sores. No wonder they throw their heads around!
@gennibeaumont737
@gennibeaumont737 2 года назад
I have often wondered if a French snaffle might be effective. The bit is leather, in two or three joins.

@@gennibeaumont737 if I were a horse owner, my horses would never have a bit in their mouths. Isn’t there a bitless halter they attach a lead to? Why not attach reins to a halter and forget the bit?
@gennibeaumont737
@gennibeaumont737 2 года назад
@@skipdar4396 My honest reply is I grew up riding first an evil bad tempered pony (not really) and I actually used a halter with reins to improve “my seat”. Problem was the period was still pretty much have bit and reins for the horse. Oh, your horse has a hard mouth, then let’s hurt more with say martingale or Pelham and you must have a double bit. We left New Zealand and went back to the United Kingdom. Different world, trainers had years of knowledge, understanding and mostly ex-Military. I then found out that cruelty need not happen. It truly changes how you relate to your horse. You get to know you are not deliberately hurting your steed. Does not matter if your tack differs from others. What matters is how you and your steed interact. Nothing better in the world, than that head on your shoulder and slobbers. I am sure you get what I mean.

@@gennibeaumont737 what are martingale and Pelham? I never had the opportunity to ride or own horses, but I still love them. I’m turning 61 this summer but that has not stopped me from wanting to learn new things. I appreciate you being willing to educate this old girl! 🙂

@@skipdar4396 never too old to learn and never to young to start to learn. I found two URLs for you to look over. They have good photos so you can get an idea of the tack. I was taught the British way to ride. We started with Pony Club, then moved onto Gymkhanas. In the western parts of the US, these are called Omoksee. This is Native American Indian language and means games on horseback. horserookie.com/best-horse-bits-for-strong-horses-jumpers/. And www.equus.co.uk/blogs/buying-guides/martingales-buying-guide. My Father supervised our riding. Bless his heart, he put the horse first in terms of being looked after properly. That meant we had better experiences. Hope you enjoy these.

It does seem that now Charles is King with zilch interest in horses which make up a huge amount of our pomp and circumstances. Will we all have to salute a potato or whatever so he can feel at home? Will we have to salute a tobacco plant so his second wife feels at home.? It’s all so wrong,especially Charles having an affair with CPB when he was still married .
