The neat thing is that we get to see some genuine Africa culture. Not Hollywood tripe.
@blixer8384
@blixer8384 3 года назад
The "Sacred Dance of the Great Watusi" (actually the Tutsi Lion Dance) is pretty much the only inclusion of actual African Culture in the movie. Most of the other Africans are actors who were hired on site. Pretty much all of it is "Hollywood Tripe" made up by the writers to make the continent look more exotic.

I'm not making a racist, statement. I'm just saying truly, great african american artists. Like Nat King Cole, Sam Cook, James Brown, Otis Redding, etc. Had real God given, talent. They didn't depend on studio tricks. And gimmicks. They just simply had incredible, talent.

Nobody can dispute that they had talent. Your comment does seem rather incongruous to the video though. I don't understand the connection you have formed between this movie, racism, Nat King Cole and Soul music.

That what I thought. I've not seen any of the movies yet but I have just read the book. I don't recognise a single event or line of dialogue from the book on this trailer. Allan Quatermain describes himself as "unattractive and cowardly whose only skill is marksmanship" not an "handsome adventureer". Alligators ? white women ? What's that all about ?

Goaded into a charge for the camera, then shot by professional hunters. Look for dust spurts on the elephants, those are bullet strikes. As I recall, a couple of african laborers were killed as well. Disgusting

This one is so ridiculous. The movie was made to highlight Deborah Kerr and Stuart Granger. A married couple. Deborah and a dorky husband. Go into the jungle. They meet up with the handsome guide. He knows everything about Africa and more. Of course, it doesn't take too long before Sparks fly with the most handsome guy in Africa and a wife. By the end of the movie the white doll belongs to the Safari King. What a contrived movie. Made for one reason to see the excitement between Deborah and Stewart. Holy cow all that money to see the excitement of infidelity. Whether it happens or not. Not for me. Actually boring and very predictable.
