i remember growing up as a kid, i used to hate all these songs by artists like ksa, orlando owoh, ebenezer obey etc, because i never used to understand what they were saying. now i truly appreciate the artistic creativity and musical wizardry of these musicians because their music is so inspiring. everytime i see stuff like this, i miss nigeria so much. ok, let me not go off on a rant lol
I'm an Igbo boy and I can't here one word he was saying. But I so much LOVE this song . I can't stop playing it. I want to be like M.K.O when I grow up.

Just seeing this in 2021 ... I won't be surprised if some kid will come back here to watch this video in 2040 .. MKO Abiola is a legend ... Legends never die
men this music reminds me of my grandparents and nigeria....i miss home and my grandparents. i remember when i was a kid this music would be playing in my grandpa living room...men i miss him
The chorus translate to 'please let me be as successful as MK Abiola'. MKO or Mashood Kashimawo Abiola, was a very popular and widely respected Nigerian politician, he won the presidential election but that was taken from him by an army officer. He was put in jail and he died the day he was to be told of his release. The song is praisng MKO and am sure it was commisioned for his election campaign. Sunny is just singing his praises. Hope that helps.
Thank You for this explanation. If you could, could you write the lyrics please? Was MKO murdered on his release day or was it a natural death? I know there are assassinations in Africa -just like all over the world- of great leaders.
Aare Ona kakanfo is not a chief that is conferred on just rich people. That's a misrepresentation of Yoruba culture. The titlle is the tradiditional prime minister of the Old Oyo empire. for over ten years that the last one has died we have not appointed another. it is a very sensitive and sacred yourba post.
Thanks for posting this music video. Please can you post the rest of this "King Sunny Ade - M.K.O Abiola"? I can still recall that the rest of this track contains KSA's song for Chief (Mrs) Simbiatu Abiola (MKO's late wife). I will really be happy and grateful if you can upload the rest of the track. Thank you!
