This record came out exactly on the month I got divorced. Hierophant on repeat helped me to walk through such a tough time. Thanks for that. I'll wait forever for a live version of the song sang as in the record
just discovered this album a moment ago, been a fan of King Woman for a few months. I'm a fan of both slowdive and windhand as well. i couldn't agree with you more haha.

What i've been fortunate to hear is testament to a sonic coven that invokes a sonic confluence of melancholic-ethereal atmospherics tempered with low slung frequency oscillation and glacial shoe-gaze inspired forays into glacial momentum. Prominent guitar presence anchors this conjuration-forge to something that resembles My Bloody Valentine on Heroin and depressives. Imagine the funeral-doom density of Esoteric in a head on collision with the celestial shoegaze of My Bloody Valentine and you're close to describing the sonic conjurations of King Woman. Epic, melancholic,immense yet fragile.
Iam amazed by this album. I hear some Alice In Chains mixed with a very doom metal sound that is depressing and dark as fuck. The vocalist is amazing, her ghostly voice is an instrument to the band and mixed with the darkness of the sound it creates a strong record.
you begin to think the band has overtaken the vocalist based upon past recordings, then you question if places have voices and if in the undertones this is how they sound
saad ahmed well you have to consider #miserable and the effects of smoking cigarettes into the mix, this many productions later, i mean, if that is the place the vocals were meant to go, this really hits hard advocating for the vape-life; a third of the way through and i'm pretty well impressed "my heart is heavy"
Many commets say this album is kinda dissapointing, the vocals and all. I thougth like that too, but it grew into me. It's an album that is ageing more than well, I think we were all a bit rushed to the conclussion, for now I think is one of the dearest albums I have in my repertory. You guys just didn't give it time.
Probably is the dreamy shoegazy/chelsea wolfe style production as noted, see them live as I did with them supporting Wolfe and you'll change your mind, I found they were loads better live and she actually has a really powerful voice that lends itself to sludge and doom, not that you'd know it on this studio release...They sounded a lot heavier and rougher live, hopefully they'll embrace that power and harshness in their sound in future releases...
+Himmelslaub Agreed!! Uninspiring and Boring at best!! I am not sure why critics raved about this release. It sounds like this group formed after a dope party.
I'm a tad disappointed in this. i think musically they have achieved it perfectly as to what style of music they play on their Doubt EP. For a 4 song Ep, the songs are more memorable than this. But I don't hate the band. It's only their first album.
Yeah, the EP set up expectations that this fullength really wasn't able to deliver. :< But I'll have admit that 'Hierophant' is the standout exception on the album; A track you can listen to for over an hour on repeat is one worth keeping.
