@@Lumber_jocks I hope it plays more like 2 than 3. But they added some stuff and the end of 3 that gives me better hope. I just want sora to be less floaty.
I really hope KH4 will bring out the dark atmosphere again. KH1 often times was VERY dark and haunting. I’m praying KH4 leans into that. KH3 was way too light hearted for what it was supposed to be in my opinion. The KH1 secret ending with Roxas is the vibe/mood I’m BEGGING for for this game
I think they could lean into that. KH 3 was probably so light hearted because a lot of the Dark Seeker saga games were actually genuinely tragic. I'd actually argue Dream Drop Distance and 3 are the only super light hearted games. I do agree 1 has a different feel though haunting is right which still makes it a unique and valid game to play to this day. BBS and 358/2 are more depressing and tragic if anything not necessarily haunting. I think 4 can go back to that mood with Quadratum being called an afterlife and them being in a new universe potentially that the characters know nothing about atm
Yeah that's why KH1 is my favorite game in the series, its great and creepy atmosphere, simple story, more complex world designs and a more grounded combat system are pretty unique compared to the rest of the series.
What do you mean only 2050? It will be 2060 once the entire game releases. We only get a half DLC before the next half is complete. XD but seriously I hope I’m not dead before this one comes out
Or maybe this is his new model for the next generation consoles (Edit: so people stop flooding my inbox with the same comment) Before everyone starts trying to argue with me that this is exclusively how Sora looks in Quadratum, remember that at the *end* of KH3 he was in Quadratum, both fighting Yozora and in the secret movie, and his character model looked exactly the same. Also Yozora, MoM and Riku maintained the same KH3 style during this cutscene. (Albiet a bit more graphically defined, for the cutscene).
@@guccigang5269 He got demoted from a first boss to a tutorial boss. Now he’s either demoted to a cutscene boss or he’s promoted back to the first boss.
One of my oldest gaming memories is my mom helping me race Riku on destiny island in KH1. On Christmas morning after I’d gotten a PS2 and KH for Christmas with the PS2 booted up and save file was called “Santa”. I always have a spot for KH.
Mhm! In 2010 I was only 5 playing it with my uncle on his ps3 it was just a goofy Disney game now look at it it’s amazing how quick graphics have improved I wish more games would use these type of graphics
@@Nodnarb69 And your making it seem like they didn’t care about it. From one of the directors mouth (Tai Yasue): Speaking with Newsweek, Yasue was asked specifically what caused Kingdom Hearts 3's lengthy development (it was originally announced in 2013): "One of the main factors was the decision to switch the game engine to develop the game. Our current engine is great in terms of developing a high end AAA title, but because there was a change in technology and work flows, it took some time for the team to adapt and adjust." Oh and let’s look at a famous Franchise called COD. They release one every year with shitton of bugs and op weapons. Hell even the newest one is being called “DLC”
@@jibanyanawesome8577 I’m not saying they didn’t care about it, it just wasn’t a top priority for them. They were focusing on other games and some of which were other kingdom hearts titles. They didn’t have a dedicated team working full time on the game, they were on and off. Yes they switched engines, but it’s funny because the switch came later and they decided to wait to start up the process of remaking the barebones of the game. You’re making it seem like they were consistently doing something with the game, they literally shelved it for another time. And that’s fine as long as you like to wait. But there’s no reason why you should think they’re working on kh4 every week.
The direction the art has taken is impressive. The one thing I kinda hate is that it may be another 10+ years of waiting. I'll be a man in my 40s when this comes out.
No kh 3 had issues mostly because of ff 15 development. After kh3 major success. Disney and Square gave Nomura more of a budget. So instead of one team working on KH games rumor is he has 3 full teams working on kh games. Usually it takes 4 to 5 years for a major game too be developed. So my guess is holiday of 2023 or early 2024.
@@kiddroach7156 it wasn't just 15 they switched engine's from the luminous engine to unreal engine 4 they had to re start from scrap that's why 3 took so long in general trust me well be getting 4 much quicker than 3
@@jman7481 yup another saga. Most likely a other trilogy. Which is why the reveal for kh4 was so quick to be announced. They probably worked halfway thru kh4 while finishing KH3. Probably so that us fans don’t wait as long as we did after kh2. They’re cooking up something good , I can’t wait for more kingdom hearts.
@@pizzaofdarkness4041 I wouldn’t say it was complete garbage, much of an overstatement. However the previous themes were definitely better, though my opinion might be biased cause of nostalgia
Youll never convince me that kh3 delivered. After it I was over the whole thing and would just cherish my memories of 1, 2, and chains. But this trailer unfortunately got me hype asf again lol
For these graphics alone. The story could be absolute dogwater but I'll be coming back for these graphics, bby. PLEASE don't pull a KH3. After FF7R there's no excuse
The way this game looks is already telling us the game has entered it's next gen phase. It's amazing how smooth everything looks compared to modern day Tokyo. I'm so excited to continue this story.
Never base your opinion of a Square game (specifically Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts titles) on the first trailer. Based on their track record, for better or worse the game will literally look or play *NOTHING* like this by the time it comes out.
I feel like the story became so convoluted at this point that I'm not gonna question anything and just enjoy the ride. This trailer also confirms Disney owns the real world now, pretty accurate.
I mean we knew they were going down the FF route with KH4 (Quadratum, FF Versus 13 etc.) but damn I didn’t think they’d transform our boy Sora into a full-on FF character. It looks amazing, I can’t wait to see more 😍
@@dullahan_of_light6047 Yeah most likely, they've already been working on it and this time they have an entire library of assets and knowledge on how to work on unreal.
I'm so surprised, I never _never_ in my life thought the next numbered game would happen so soon with such fantastic graphics, I'll miss the stylised look that the kingdom hearts series has produced in the past but maybe this might be the best way forward if it means we get to see sora and the gang again Edit: since people seem to love reminding me like I don't know, here is the reply I made to an earlier comment. *Oh yeah you bet your arse they'll spend the next 5 years giving out a trailer per year before it get's delayed twice, the team working on it get's mixed about and when they do finally release the game it''ll be 2029, ten years since 3, with 4 other spin-off's using the old KH3 style with less polygons like Missing Link.* *I'm just suprised they actually anounced it, I hope they'll learn from their mistakes and not rush to anounce and release the game, I'd rather quality than speed.*

You don't know wtf you are talking about. This world is the world of unreality and sora looks like this because of the environment. Wait for him to travel to other worlds and the game will be exactly like a kh game is. Nomura said it.
I really like this new design for Sora. Like others have said, he looks very much like a final fantasy character now. I think the series is going to begin to stray away from disney content and lean more towards ff. While I loved the cartoony look we’re used to, it was fitting for a game that took place in disney worlds. If final fantasy becomes a bigger part of kh’s core, this design is perfect imo
Not even just FF...you have Nier, Dragon Quest, TWEWY and so many more insanely badass stuff to use instead of fucking Olaf from Frozen. Seriously, I hope Kingdom Hearts grows the fuck up because I don't know how much more of this I can take.
@@herbaljellyfish9842 Yeah olaf is an annoying character and i feel the same way as you about hoping to see kingdom hearts growing up. I remember hearing that kh3 was meant to be the one with the darkest themes in the series... sadly we got the opposite and various problems caused by a rushed development plus questionable decisions. I hope kh4 can do better because should it repeat the same mistakes i saw in kh3, i'm considering to stop buying future games in the series that continue the story and just watch them on youtube
While I think it would be good to have the next Kingdom Hearts game focus more on FF this time round, I feel like stepping away from the Disney worlds completely would be stepping away from part of the games core identity. FF7 remake is a good alternative for the more action focused rpg fans that would rather play purely in the FF worlds.
@@happyjam92 THAT! I always loved KH for the combination of Disney and FF. Leaning more towards one franchise would be off brand in my opinion. It just wouldn’t be kingdom hearts anymore.
Bro, Sora running straight TOWARDS the danger hit so different with his new look. It's like he's a proper anime protagonist now~! I'm so hyped!!! AND HE'S ACTUALLY WEARING NORMAL SHOES, WHAT IS THIS BLASPHEMY!?!?
So Sora's finally in the final fantasy arc, glad to see it. I feel like this will finally be where Kingdom hearts can finally become its own without having to worry about Disney trying to have full control of it. Plus a solo journey for Sora means harder game play possibly, which is awesome!
@@MiloKuroshiro Yes but they only advanced the story in little ways and filling in the gaps. The numbered titles are the ones that actually advance the story in major ways.
@@Webshooters1 I don't play KH but I like to look at game play but i agree. I think it's odd that they release games like that. It makes following the story confusing. I do wish they focused on working on the main story and just add proper side missions that add more substance, and make some mentions "to be continued" until the next major release to the game more substantial so they don't need to make so many little "sequels" it takes YEARS for them to release these games, I just think most of that time is spent on them reading previous scripts from all other games then trying to write a new story with as little plot holes or contradictions as possible, paired with the usual development time for something like this
You need to understand one thing. This trailer have sora doing some crazy parkour stuff. So my guess it won’t be on the final product and as much they wanna add that it won’t happen. More on that this game probably gonna take 5yr to finish due to all the stuff Nomura gonna try adding but can’t too much bugs.
From first witnessing KH2 being played at a friend of a friend’s house, to getting KH as a gift from a family friend pastor, to over a decade of story and games, it’s a new beginning and starts with this
I’m 28 & thought this franchise died after 3. I feel like you guys have very low standards for games if you think this looks good lmao. Square Enix clearly hurting for money after all those flops of theirs recently.
I actually like the look of this Sora. He looks normal! And really handsome. No longer a kid but grown up and developing. How his personality is...we'll see.
Uuuuh he just has now a different art style (FF looking character) ... he has the same age like KH3 so far! My guess? He just has this new art only in QUADRATUM! ... Might be possible at least! ... like Sora got his design in many other worlds, this is the one in Quadratum!
I remember when this was first released and the hype we all had seeing this and Sora gliding on the inside of the building, so looking forward to it's game release!
That line at the end: "If you do leave this world, don't expect to return to the one from whence you came." I think this more or less confirms that Quadratum is but one world on this other side of reality. This could give Nomura the freedom to use stuff like Marvel and Star Wars and have it all make sense by saying they're worlds on the other side of reality.
@@IcyWind14 And what about the VERY next moment? The fungus growing on those trunks could also very well be from Endor, but is there chance we are also getting Pandora: The World of AVATAR? @@philatio1744 How so? The logic is sound. This IS a game series where you go around to various Disney worlds and such. Nomura is a huge Star Wars fan and has wanted to find a way to use it and Sora being in Unreality as we understand it could be the perfect way to use properties that were not originally Disney.
For thoses who have seen dark road, you can recall there is a moment in olympus where Hades says (you) as in someone approaching him. I believe the final scene of the trailler was meant to reference that because he will be important in the future (after all he is the lord of the dead)
@PiePierrot right? That was my first thought too. I dont know any other characters with the color dynamic and flames like him that are in this franchise

I started playing KH1 when I was 9 and loved it. I’m 30 now and still keeping up with the story. Have the whole series for PS5. Looking forward to this one.
Same here ^^ First game made me cry. I just bought the collection for PC. Booted the game first time and "Dearly Beloved" in a remastered unlocked all feelings I had a child once again XD
I was 7 when I got and finished the first kingdom hearts ! 28 now…time flies. Didn’t like kh3 really but liked the fan service it provided and seeing all the characters reunite but I’m very excited for kh4:) kh3 seemed catered to children so I hope kh4 shows love towards its older and OG fans as well!
It's a bit personal this, but now i'm struggling with episodes of huge anxiety and stuff like that. However, that part of the theme makes me imagine this same scene, but instead of being afraid of all my "internal devils", I just ran towards them, facing them determinated. Sorry if i sound like a kid, but the trailer inspires me to it.
i can feel the developers are having the time of their lives with this one. KH is no longer just happening in the fantasy world, but in a city inspired by Japan. Cars, traffic light, people, phones mixed with shadows, keyblade, etc these developers are merging their reality and their imagination, i can tell theyre excited when making this one
Meh I prefer over gameplay and story over the next gen graphics… it’s all fun and games until they ruin it by focusing more on graphics like what they did with the third game.
@@legendaryviking281 yeah I mean it's gonna be kinda disappointing if that whole fight scene is basically done by "pressing triangle" again.. it's all well being flashy and cool to look at it, but hopefully it's actually engaging as well.
@@legendaryviking281 Well they definitely listened to a lot of the criticism in KH3, which is why they added combo extensions, critical mode, super bosses, ect. Definitely think at the very least they're going to continue to incorporate those things into this game at the beginning rather than through dlc. There's a lot more they can do gameplay wise, so hopefully they take some positive creative liberties.
I feel it’s so accurate having these people be more worried about taking a good photo of the random heartless that showed up out of nowhere than run away straight away.
Honestly, I don’t know what surprises me more. How freaking good QUADRATUM Sora looks (finally becoming the FF anime boy he was always meant to be) or the fact that we’re going straight to KH4 right after 3. No decimal sequels this time around? No 3.5 or 3.8 or 3.9. Rounding off straight to 4. Beautiful. But jokes aside. This game looks beyond fantastic and it’s not even the final graphics yet. This is still in development but already I’m psyched for this! This is coming for the PS5, right? PS5 and Xbox? Maybe even PC and Switch since KH in on PC and Switch now. Either way, a good time to be a KH fan!
Well there's no handhelds to split the games for and all consoles get the same version of a game now (or cloud in switch's case) Wouldn't be surprised if they only go for round numbers now unless they get some exclusivity deal or something but I doubt it
1. Not Switch, until KH4 comes out there will be a successor, 2. The mainline games never had decimal sequels, they were just collections of a few KH Games plus the main game
Is that Hades at the end? I thought the red to blue to red flames thing was his pastiche, but I wasn't sure (I also have no idea what Japanese Hades sounds like)
@@Muhammadwasapedo He did every game, Birth by sleep include. I thinks he's not in Hollywood's good books for a long time, so Hades in Kingdom Hearts is one of his most reliable income.
Technically speaking, some games, even during gameplay; not just cutscenes, have already surpassed the graphics of that movie -- which is also rendered in only 1080 by the way.
Star Wars would totally fit in this game. Because of how the dark side is related to the heartless and darkness. I would love to see a lightsaber keyblade.
Though an early development stage footage, but already I'm liking how this is turning out. And those two go to Hades of all people for help? This journey has really made them crazy.
Well he is king of the Underworld, if anyone would know about death it's him, and if they are going for a more realistic take they could give him sort of a redemption arc
I kept screaming "Oh my gawd!" because of how beautiful this is! Sora fighting a kaiju Darkside Heartless, Strelitzia ending up in Quadratum, the gameplay, Sora looking realistic as hell, Donald and Goofy getting help from Hades to find Sora, THIS IS ART! Can't wait till Square Enix gets more information on KH4 today and later this year so we won't have to wait for so long like with KH3.
So im not the only one who already recognized that this guy can be only hades i mean its really obviously blue flames and then Red flames and the fact that sora did sacrifice himself in kingdom hearts 3.
This is really well done, I'm looking forward to when the game is released. Hopefully Sora won't be the only playable character in the game, it'd be nice to play as either Riku or Ventus.
Well yeah but in the third game, you got to play as Riku sometimes. And you always get to play with different characters. So you did get to play as someone else. Not much. But you still got that little feeling of being someone else

I believe that the color scheme of characters influences the player's mood and attitude to a degree, and maybe that's part of the reason a lot of his creations feel dull even though they shouldn't. So yeah, all of Advent Children, Kingdom Hearts II and III even, Final Fantasy XV: all black clothes lol.

Fun fact the world Sora is currently in is based on the world from the video game in the Toy Story level of Kingdom Hearts 3. Which itself is adapted from an early concept build of Final Fantasy 15 before the game changed directors and the story was redone. It also was a candidate to be Square Enix's next big game but they decided on KH4 and since they didn't wanna split themselves between two big console games they decided to focus on 4. The lore of the games is just as complex as the lore behind the games.
