There are very few games that can truly pull off that large scale battle and make it actually feel like your fighting the hoards. This is one of the best.

Can we talk about the fact that when Sephiroth showed up the face Cloud, the other Heartless deadass went: *“Fuck this shit I’m out”*

This was one of the most badass sequences in KH2. Only complaint is that the wyverns and behemoths from the original trailer weren't in teh 1000 Heartless Battle, though in hindsight, I guess they wanted people to actually be able to beat that segment.

if ya'll notice KH was always release after a major release of a FF game. The first came out after FF X, the second came out after FF X-2, now the 3rd might come out after FF VII, but I won't be surprise to see Noctis in KH 3

I would love to see a Dynasty Warriors style Kingdom Hearts game some day, but knowing Disney even though there is already a lot of fighting and "violence" in the series, Disney won't allow it. The 1000 heartless fight is probably the closes we will get to one.

It would be super nice to see this battle improved in the PS4 version, with different kind of heartless and more ACTUAL heartless on screen, not just the bunch of guys surrounding Sora. I do realize that back then there were some technical limitations, but the ps4 should be able to handle it, given that it's just a PS2 game.

now think how much less memorable this would've been as a cut scene. this is really fucking good game design. you don't watch your character kill 1000's of heartless YOU kill thousands of heartless an feel fucking awesome while you do it

Gotta love how before this point in KH2, any continuous onslaught of Heartless or Nobody cut away to the trio getting overwhelmed in a cutscene. After the 1,000 Heartless battle, that came to an end.

I just loved the 1000 heartless battle in the game. I felt so skilled and powerful cutting their numbers down like butter :D

This battle is a big part of why kh2 is my favorite Kh game.

Demyx is really the most logical one in the organizarion he goes against social norms and says you shouldnt judge and its lit (still a hard fight though)

Holy F@#$ing Sh#$!!! I just had a thought! To those of you who've seen Back Cover, does Xigbar/Braig with his hood up remind you of someone? The way he talks, moves his arms for emphasis, subtly hinting to people about something we can't fully guess at. Not to mention that he's one of two people in the KH series with only one eye. I don't have any other proof other than this, but the First Master from KH Back Cover seems SCARILY similar to Xigbar to me after watching this again after seeing BC. GAH!!! TOO CONFUSING!!!!

I remember first playing this when it first released. Like a weirdo, I made a save game just so I can play it over and over again. I loved the OST and the concept leading to it so it was always cool to me.

Which difficulty are you playing ? Becouse i had like no problem on all bosses except Sephiroth and i was like 11 and playing on hard :D Good old memories.

Here might not be the best video to say it, but I love the design of the armored Heartless. It’s too bad they don’t show up in KH3.

I wish Sinister Shadows was more similar to the original KH2's. The more natural orchestral treatment just feels weaker compared to the synthesized strings and percussion from the original.

i love this scene and the battle so much its effectvely what i want form 3 large scale wars that require you to destroy 1000s of heartless.

This is the fight that really seemed to push the PS2 to the absolute limits. There were so many sprites, models, and effects going onscreen with pretty much no slowdown. For the that era, this is probably one of the greatest displays of how powerful the PS2 was. I never saw one scene like this in any game on the Gamecube or XBOX. My only gripe was that I wish it was a little more difficult. Even on Critical mode, the fight isn't hard, but I guess it's also meant to be a cinematic display of how strong Sora is.

That was in my top 3 most favourite battle sequence in all Kingdom Hearts especially the 1000 vs 1. I just love seeing those fools thinking they have a chance and come at me so that I can destroy them. It was an amusing battle.
